I am LOVING the look of that golden knight, and in fact that whole set in general.

The troll fortress I was looking forward to the most.....now....not so much. Still need to see better pictures though, to be fair. Still it really does seem to lack detail and finesse. (sp)

The Troll Fortress looks more pleasing assembled, I have to say. The Troll King seems to have a new torso as well!

And I'm relieved that the Drawbridge Defense has that blue plate to connect the tower and the slope (although I do miss baseplates as well). I just adore that queen-minifig, and the golden knight is splendid in all his sparkliness.

Oh, as a sidenote, the freshly released pictures of the Indiana Jones sets reveal yet another new female minifig hair! It's a good year for female minifigs, this one.

The picture don't show us everything we would like to see but the bridge sure is a thing of beauty and a surefire all time classic.

The Troll fortress, while still not what I had anticipated, is also marvelous and I should have a lot of fun 'fixing' it up as only a troll knows how.

I hope, however futile it might be to do so, that the abscence of the chariot means Lego are going back to the drawing board on that one.

Loving a lot here. I think the Troll Fortress is going to be better than most people are giving credit for right now. My favourite part about it is that it isn't just a fortress, it has its own unique building aesthetic and design that really stands out as trollish. Just look at this pic:

legob9.jpg

The arch, weed, and diamond window above that really sell the design. I'm glad the King has a new torso, that cape looks neat too. Of course the troll witch is exciting too. I also really want as many of those giant flame pieces as I can get.

Drawbridge Defense is looking even better than before. The literall Gold Knight is fantastic, can't wait to get him, the fact that they have a jester is wonderful to me, considering I didn't get the Advent Calender. Love the Queen fig too, as Sandy said, this is a great year for female minifigs which in my opinion is a huge step forward for TLC. The actual design of the Drawbridge is very food, I love the contrasts in construction between the races.

Yep, sadly more money out of the pocket for me this year...

Batbrick Away!

Troll Fortress looks good except for the seaweed pieces...they look out of place to me. Maybe dark green regular foliage pieces like the King's Castle would have been better? I know they aren't supposed to be seaweed, but I'm instantly reminded of the ocean or something when I see them.

The Drawbridge Defense definitely looks impressive and the Golden Knight looks great. It's a solid little edifice and a great parts pack. Funny how the queen has Willie's hair on the box art! Great mix of figs and parts, this one is a definite must-have.

I'm still not loving the Troll Fortress. I appreciate what others say about it having its own troll-style aesthetic, but it doesn't go far enough for my liking. It seems like a half-modded King's Castle Siege replaced with dark bley slopes and the zillion or so leftvoer dark brown slopes produced in 2008  The flame pieces look like lollipops and those seagrass pieces look better in trans-green (and I normally love dark green!). 100 of the pieces from this set must come in the form of Viking horns or dark-red teeth. It's OK, but not amazing.

Thanks a lot for the pictures guys! As i saif d before, to me they now look WAY better than before. And i was right that the troll's fortress can be assembled so it's closed! The Drawbridge is deffinitely a win for me, maybe the ebst one made so far

Like the Drawbridge even more than before.

But I still don´t like the troll fortress. The prelim pictures showed three towers, now I can only see two ones. Or did they left out one tower because he looks the same as the one we can see? (Speaking of the smaller tower)

Well, I'm even more convinced as to the quality of these new sets. Even from the prelims the Troll Fortress looked suitably imposing. It looks like a serious quantity of parts! It's nice to be able to see the detail of Drawbridge Defense better. I liked it before, but now that I can see it better, it looks very nicely designed. Very convincing Castle-style. The golden knight, I wasn't sure about, but it looks quite neat now! I'll absolutely have to get these sets... even if it means leaving much of the awesome Space Patrol line-up on the "might buy some day" list.

Just as well the chariot is missing, I might be accused of "whining" again if I explained the particulars of why it didn't interest me! Actually I hope it's released even if I wasn't buying it. I wouldn't like to see an absence of any smaller sets.

I think they set up the Troll fortress wrong ,there is supposed to be 2 towers right next to the gate, but this mistake is good because it means that the fortress can be taken apart in sections like kings castle siege.

Wonderful, new pictures. :classic:

Drawbrige Defense looks pretty good. I'm loving the new Queen minifig. We also get the Jester fig which was previously only available in the Advent Calendar. I'm also glad that TLG decided to be generous by giving us a real golden knight instead of a yellow or orange one. I'm estimating this one will for around 30 USD.

The Troll Fortress, however, doesn't look that great. It's a lesser version of the King's Castle Siege, IMO, and I imagine that the price will be high. We also get yet another King... wouldn't a dwarf (or even a dwarf king?) or a human prince be a wiser choice? I have to say that the Troll Queen is awesome, though.

My favourite part about it is that it isn't just a fortress, it has its own unique building aesthetic and design that really stands out as trollish.

The arch, weed, and diamond window above that really sell the design.

Now this I agree with. It will all depend on the price for me...

I'm glad that TLG decided to take it down a notch with Castle this year, too, since all of the other great lines (Space Police, SW, etc.) will be eating up my money.

Trolls Mountain Fortress looks better than I thought on these new pics, more color-full with some neat and more trollish structures indeed.

Drawbrige Defense still looks like an a little better, parts-wise, KK set to me... a parts- and figures pack, not so much more... but maybe

some bigger pics´ll reveal some by now (for me) hidden beauty as time goes by...

Thanks again, Bricks!

Guys, there are still three towers. In the first picture the other "gate tower" is just separated from the rest of it and it got cut out of the picture (you can see the corner of it), but you can see it clearly in the other picture with the king standing in front of it.

Don't go complaining about things that aren't even true.

I'm holding my breath for more pictures and angles of the troll fortress, since there's so much to capture beyond just a couple shots. I actually like the color scheme of light bley. It's not all just made out of wood and piles of rocks, but rather it looks like a half-way attempt at a fortress intended to compete with the majesty of the king's castle, and due to limited resources and civility it's all strung together haphazardly and shoddily.

King's chariot I couldn't care less about - chariot's too big for one horse, IMO.

Drawbridge is my favorite of this lot, though - an incredible set in its own right (looks like it would fit in perfectly as an addition to the king's castle with a little modification), not to mention it comes with the queen, jester, and gold knight. :cry_happy:

The drawbridge defence looks a lot better in the new pictures, and it looks wider and more fleshed out. IMO, the only flaw with the set is the small fact that the skelies are attacking at a drawbridge with melee weapons - all the crownies have to do is take up the bridge and their home-safe with a moat in between them and the skelies. All the skelies can do then is jump in the water!

I'm loving the look of Drawbridge Defence. That will be my top priority of 2009 methinks. That Golden Knight looks like he'll be pearl gold, which is awesome.

I'll also pick up the Troll Fortress at some point too. I noticed that the Troll King doesn't have a crown yet. Perhaps they haven't finalised the design of it?

If only the new Space Police stuff didn't look so cool...

Finally we get these better pictures which give us the possibility to have a better idea of what LEGO is preparing for us...

The new pictures make me liking more the Bridge defense even if the presence of a jester, a queen and a golden knight make me thinking that the price would be a bit too high for the parts we get.

I'm not convinced at all by the troll fortress as I wasn't before: it doesn't give me the impresison of a "troll's building style" and I'm very sorry for this. Furthermore it seem there is an abudance of big pieces which is very bad in my opinion.

If I think at the 2008 dwarves' mine I can see a big gap with these sets.

I don't know: my impression is that is better save money to get a second Medieval Market Village than buying these sets... :cry_sad:

Well I am impressed with the pictures. Thanks for posting them.

Is the catapult next to the witch made with some new container type of piece. It looks rounded like a big bowl of some sort. The new flames look great!. I can't wait to put those to use. Although I agree the seaweed pieces look a little out of place, I am glad they are now making them in dark green. Very useful that!

The golden knight does look pretty flashy. He's all pimped out! I like him. Not at all rainbow like...

Hmm... That troll king's torso may be new, but looks awefully similar to the grey troll torso from last year. I would have thought TLG would have changed it up a bit more if they were gonna make a new one altogether. I wish I could see a closeup of that. I also note the large trolls don't seem to have made an appearance yet.
