the zillion or so leftvoer dark brown slopes produced in 2008

Hey don't go trash talking dark brown!

Is the catapult next to the witch made with some new container type of piece. It looks rounded like a big bowl of some sort. The new flames look great!. I can't wait to put those to use. Although I agree the seaweed pieces look a little out of place, I am glad they are now making them in dark green. Very useful that!

The golden knight does look pretty flashy. He's all pimped out! I like him. Not at all rainbow like...

I'm pretty sure the witch's catapult's made out of the cup half of those ball pieces you see in a bunch of Star Wars sets.

And two pimps this year? Would make sense, Gold Pimp vs. Orc Pimp..

I'm definitely going to get the Drawbridge Defence now, my reservations about it are gone. Liking the little ballista on top.

Methinks I'll get the Drawbridge set; at first I was dismayed. It looked a lot like the Castle stereotype drawbridge set, but seeing the Queen and the Jester and that knight guy... Oh ya...

And the Troll Fortress of course. I think the Troll King deserves a new head; or maybe he has one? It looks a little wrinkled...

Some better pictures are needed but the mountain fortress looks too much like King's Castle Siege for me. I was hoping for more of a mountain look like the Agents Volcano set with a lot more dark green and brown thrown in.

I was hoping the Troll Fort would be a cross between the Volcano Base and the Viking Fort. I'm not sure about the design-tack they've taken with it. Hopefully the final design will be better...

I really felt in love with this new Castle sets!

They are so awesome, I love especially the fortress and the drawbridge attack. -Must buy-

But one point I didn't understand: Why they made now again a set with skelleton's?

So great work TLC!

Why shouldn't they? They are part of the current castle line, just vecause they were absent for a year it doesn't mean they are gone at all. Actually they weren't even absent, cause there were some in the advent calendar.

But..what forest and skeleton attack are you talking about?

I think he meant the fortress and the drawbridge attack.

Just noticed this (and i know i'm extremely late) . The drawbridge defense has skellies instead of the usual trolls!!! I personally like this a lot more, because I never liked those smaller trolls at all, and I'm glad to see the skeletons return :classic: .

Dangit!! I go away for a mini-vacation and now I come back to find you all have been ogling these new pics!!

Love the Fortress and even the drawbridge. The design of the arched walkway is cool.

I like the Troll Fortress, but the color scheme still bothers me,I think its because everything of the trolls is dark, their siege engines, their outfits, their boats, but their fortress is light and looks like an old crowny fortress, that all they did was add a few parts here and there. Also the Troll fortress seems like it lackes the chains, flags and spears, the trolls always seem to have.

I think this is really pointless, since we still haven't seen really good pictures of the whole set, and also we still don't know if this is already the final version of it. And it wouldn't change anything anyway, if most people here don't like the color scheme...

Edit: Just saw your signature, SiRoa, you got a few mistakes in the set names there, and also you can find most of these sets at S@H.

That's a great explanation!!! It's an old Crowny fortress they trashed during a raid. Remember their sense o aesthetic is null.... I would also prefer it to be dark gray or with a color scheme similar to that in Vladek's Dark Fortress, but if it comes in this lighter color scheme, that's the explanation I'll use to give myself some peace of mind... :D

i actually think that's exactly what TLG was thinking when designing it. I mean, orcs and trolls are really silly and simple creatures, and there's no way they could design and build a big fortress on their own, so they raided a crownie castle and made their own fortress out of it.

I don´t believe, that "really silly and simple creatures" could build things like siege tower, the battle wheel or the assault wagon ;)

Perhaps they stole them? I really like the new printing on the large trolls, and I really with they'd make different troll faces.

The fortress would have looked nicer if the light bluish gray parts were dark grey, but i understand why TLG decided to use LBG for the walls, if they were dark gray they would blend too much with the rocks. It would have been better if the walls were brown (and dark brown). A bit like the viking fortress, but then with no log pieces and a lot of dark brown.

I don't understand why you alla re talking about "what would have been better" Guys, this is still the PRELIM version, and it could look completely different in the end. Maybe they just used light parts for now. I don't get it why people are bashing about sets that are not even finished yet
