Scop Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Maybe i am wrong with that, yeah. But still i think that it really could be a raided castle they took over. I like the idea of a raided castle too. Quote
Dadster Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I don't understand why you alla re talking about "what would have been better" Guys, this is still the PRELIM version, and it could look completely different in the end. Maybe they just used light parts for now. I don't get it why people are bashing about sets that are not even finished yet Wasn't the box sitting behind it? My opinion is that it would prob look better with more dark/ rocky elements. I really like the idea of cobbling the Dr Inferno volcano hideout into a Troll fortress... Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) I was thinking about what the Fortress would look like if they changed the burps color to mocha and changed the light bley to dark bley, the red spikes to silver and maybe add some chains, spears, shields and flags.I think these changes would make the fortress look more trollish and also make the fortress look like its in a more desolate land. p.s. on a different note, I think the new Molaram(the Thugee Priest from the Temple of Doom) helmet if it were in silver,or gold would work good as the Troll kings crown. Oswald the Rabbit Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Also in the Temple of Doom set Mola Rom's headpiece has tan cow horns. Quote
Gaebril Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I really like the drawbridge defense. I appreciate getting the newer minifigs instead of the same old soldiers - there are already a lot of those. I'll try to get this set when I find the opportunity. The Troll Fortress... well, I would much prefer if the final version has more brown or at least dark colors. I might skip it if it's really bley. Quote

I really like the idea of cobbling the Dr Inferno volcano hideout into a Troll fortress... Yes it was, and on the box is written "preliminary" all over it. Just because there IS a box or a set is assembled at a fair, it doesn't mean it's finished. Edited January 29, 2009 by metalandi Quote
gogobig Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Absolutely love trolls fortress-getting that one for sure drawbridge isnt that bad-nice touch with jester and queen. Golden knight can be like a special general or a hero-love the idea. King's chariot-nice chariot for building a chariot army (like the ancient egyptians used to use). The only downfall would be multiple king's figures :( Getting one of each for sure :) Quote
TLV Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Drawbridge defense looks good. Solid construction, and some really interesting minifigs. Its a definate buy for me. The troll fortress on the other hand doesn't look so good. I was hoping for more brown pieces in it and a darker colour scheme to it, something like the siege tower in 7037 (tower raid). But its still too early to say. Until the final model comes out, I'm still hopeful. I wonder why there are so few castle sets being released this year? I wished they came out with some more troll sets, especially a troll battle pack. Then again it's not sucha bad thing as it means I can focus my spending on the medieval village and the new pirates. Svelte Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If they're showing solid, 3D, bricky preliminaries at a retailer's toy fair, they are not going to vary *that* much from the finalised product. There may be minor changes but the design of the Troll Fortress must be pretty much set. Quote
KimT Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I can't wait for those new sets to hit the shelves. The Troll Fortress looks awesome and so does the drawbridge. A clear win-win in my opinion. Now we just need pics of the King's Chariot to round of the next wave. Quote
SWMAN Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Now that I see that the Troll Fortress is not simply a flat front but is enclosed, I like it better. Still, not the best sets ever. Quote
fiske Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 where is the poll??I agree, to change the color.. Reply to the wish list; The skeleton ship attack is very hard to get, because its a limited addition. In Europe it's almost impoissible. Try Amazon germany. I just bought it there for 80 euros. Pricy; but worth it, because it's a great set. And one more thing; if you come to Denmark; dont buy lego; it's really exspensive. Wish we had the same price level as the USA. The new sets are okay; but they will be much better, when they come out. Quote
MrTools Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Stranglythe only new st im not to hapy about is the Trolls mountain fortress. im not sure why, i guss its just the overall design of it somthing just doesnt seem right. But that might be because the box is behind it and i cant tell the set from the box art I will just have to wait until i see it with a solid color background Quote
Algernon Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 You know guys, it is supposed to be the Troll Mountain Fortress. It makes sense that it's got a lot of gray, and I think gray actually works way better with the "troll" theme than excessive brown. Quote
GloriusShadow Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The troll fortress doesent look that good. But the photograf should have taken a picture of the whole thing. But the draw bridge looks excellent. And where is the picture of the offical Mola Ram? Quote
metalandi Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Mola Ram what? I think it was actually forbidden to take photos there, this would explain why we still haven't got really good pictures. Quote
TheShnomon Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hmm, anybody else missing the Skeletons? I think they need a good new figure, instead of just throwing a hood on one and calling it a day. Maybe a new helmet or arms? The Trolls have so much more stuff right now so I'm hoping they do the same for the Skellies before the line ends. Quote
metalandi Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 New helmets - yes, i'd appreciate that. But it won't be possible to have a lot of new looks going on, because..well, they are skellies, and are, ...skellie Quote
SiRoa Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I miss the skeleton, but I wonder why LEGO release any Skelly?? in the orc and dwarf era.. Quote
TheShnomon Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Well first they had the whole army of the dead fighting the valiant knights, then they give us the orcs and dwarfs. But then they decide to throw in the knights with that saga as well, and now it just has me a bit curious as to why they dropped the skeletons so quickly. Maybe it's because there was only so much they could do with them, but some new armor would've changed that up. I mean, if the orcs can have some giant megablocks troll thing, tons of different armor with color variations and all that jazz I think they can do the same for the poor skellies. I know we're getting that new set with the gold knight(An excellent figure btw) and some skeletons, but the skeletons are the same as always. But wait, one has a hood and a scythe! That hasn't been thought of, right(coughbattlepackcough)? Everybody is getting a good new unit or two in this upcoming 09 wave, all except the goddamn skeletons... Quote
Scop Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Skeletons were the main reason for me to come out of my dark ages. In general I like stuff about Skeletons, Ghosts, Death and something like that, and one day I went to a local supermarket to buy some food and discoverd some small Castle-Sets with that evil looking bone-people. Of course I hat to buy them and since then, I am back ;). So I really like the presence of the skeletons in 2009 and I am still hoping for a little skellie set (maybe in 2010). :skull: Quote
TheShnomon Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Personally, I'd rather the Castle series not live til 2010. I don't want it to suffer the fate of what Knights Kingdom became. Sometimes Lego just tries to milk the franchise too much, so it's best if they end it this year. I mean maybe they could bring the Skeletons back at the end of Castle as the main enemy once again? I'd love to see the series end on that note. Quote
Wouwie Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) Don't know if this has been posted yet... Sorry for the bad editing.. EDIT: Never mind... Edited February 9, 2009 by Wouwie Quote
TheShnomon Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I've actually seen that quite a few times at my local TRU. I think they also have a cop, fireman, and pirate one as far as I know. Quote
Tyrant Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) I'm glad to see that the skeletons haven't been totally left behind. It helps cement the idea that they are allied in some way with the Trolls (I prefer to think of them as orcs). Or that the knights are being hit on two fronts at once. As for skeleton diversity, there is already some diversity to them. They have white and black varieties, their knights (I refer to them as Death Knights, like in D&D), the wizard leader, 2 female figures (the skeleton queen and the witch), and their own horses. That last one is the big one to me. We have had the same horse mold for a couple of decades, and then these guys get their own horse. I would love to see one or two other animals like that. Maybe really combine them with the orcs and have a skeletal version of the larger trolls. Either way, I would buy them as my skeleton army is getting quite large and a little more variety would be nice. So, I agree with the general idea that a few more new things for the skeletons would be welcome, but I am just glad they are still being included after a year without them. Now I just hope we haven't seen the last of the dwarves. Edit: And now that I see there is to be a Pirate magnet set and more Star Wars magnet sets, hopefully there will be a Castle magnet set. Given the content of the others, it isn't unreasonable to believe that it will include some harder to find figures like the Skeleton queen from the older chess set or possibly the new Orc king. Looking at the upcoming Star Wars magnet sets and the hard to find figures they include, I am suprised the Pirate set didn't include the maiden from the new pirate ship. I wish it had.
