The video game seems to use a range of meshes, from ones that look exactly like the movie, to ones that are slightly modified for game play, to ones that match official LEGO sets (which may be scaled down from the movie), to ones that are completely different altogether (the train comes to mind). For me, it's interesting to see the different interpretations for different uses.

Thanks for the comments! They are appreciated, as always.

The latest in fashion, straight from Bricksburg! These are approximations of the energy domes created for Mark Mothersbaugh for his performance on the Emmy Awards. From looking at the pictures, he had at least two created for him. The one on the left is the earlier one and the one on the right is a newer, re-sized version.

Q: Are we not minifigures? A: We are Master Builders! [with my sincere apologies to Mark :-) ]

I'm just joined to the Eurobricks, but following it since a while. And closely following this topic, well, since the beginning.

When I saw the Movie Green Grocer, I immediately decided I have to build this. So I made a complete redesign on the internal structures, to find out the angles, which allows a smooth build. It took 2 weeks to finish the building in LDD. That was end of October. Since that? I'm collecting the bricks. Almost exactly 7000 bricks. I expect to receive the last ones this week, then I can start assembling.

But first I would like to say thank you for the original design, and the rendered images. And especially for the design of the 3rd, invisible side of the building. They were a huge help during my redesign process.

The ceremonial placement of the foundation stone is already happened. The mayor, the press, several VIPs and stars were all attended.

I don't want to flood this topic with my images, so I will probably create a new one to show the assembling process.

kodlovag--Welcome to Eurobricks! I'm so excited you are building the Movie Green Grocer! It's quite large for a (non) modular.

You are welcome to post as many pics of it here as you like. I'm especially interested to see what you came up with on the inside. I think I posted here several times that the inside of mine is a royal mess. I built mine "hollywood style"--that is, it looks good on camera, but isn't very "functional."

I'm also curious to see how you handle the center tower roof on the "hidden side." That was one detail I never could get to look exactly like the one on screen from all angles (assuming it wasn't changed from shot-to-shot).

Thanks for your post! Let me know if I can help with any closeups of my build.

Hey, you are on the front page! Congratulations!

Here is the base floor in my Movie Green Grocer. There are three shops, one at each side. There are also three entrances to the staircase at the center of the building. Here are the mailboxes too. As you can see I tried everything to minimize the number of the bricks, it was already a little bankrupt to collect all of them, so there is no furniture. Even the floor tiles are missing in the shops. Maybe I will complete it later, but at this point it remains empty. I focused on the outside and on a functional internal structure.

And... Today I collected all the bricks, sooner than I expected, so I can start assembling!

Thanks for all of the comments!

kodlovag--Front page? Hey, cool! Thanks for telling me.

Your floorplan looks really good. It's very straight-forward. I like how you kept the lobby with the mail boxes.

Thanks for posting that-,I look forward to seeing more of it!

I'm here again. I'm still building the first floor, I hope, I can finish it tonight. Last night I spent 1 hour with searching 5 missing 1x8 light bluish grey bricks. Finally I found them where they should not be: within a big stack of white bricks, which were put aside, as white bricks are not needed for the first floor. The grey bricks were hiding at the bottom of the stack. If I continue with this speed, I can finish assembling only at mid March. :classic:

But anyway, I post the model of the 2nd floor. And the 3rd. They are completely identical.

There are 3 apartments at each floor. That's all together 9 apartments, however there are only 6 mailboxes at the lobby... They have to share. I switched the inside walls to white. It looks nice, and far much cheaper, than sand green bricks. I also changed the sand green 1x2 bricks with groove to masonry profile bricks. In the original design I built in 342 pcs of 1x2 groove bricks, while that brick costs EUR 3.50 each. Just imagine, only these bricks would cost far over EUR 1000. I will never be that rich. The masonry profile bricks cost less than 1/20 of that, including shipping. So I had to modified the design, also switched some of the masonry bricks to plain 1x2 bricks, and I think, the result is even better, than the original. It's still using 270 masonry profile bricks together with 154 plain 1x2 bricks, and not counting the 1x1s.

Now I'm going back to build, otherwise I will never finish it... See some more images in the flicker album.

Good call it was on the frontpage!

I browsed the first page of this topic and my jaw dropped deeper and deeper... :wub_drool:

This is really mindblowing, a lot of members told you so before. Are you doing anything else since September besides this?

Thank you so much for sharing your creations with us!

I have to admit, I was too lazy to browse through all of the 12 pages, but where do you get your inspiration from? The movie alone, or the video game or also LEGO Dimensions?

Really amazing designs. I'm blown away. I specially love all the living space in the different buildings.

Hinckley--I wasn't aware there was a facebook page for the Town theme. Good to know--thanks!

pittpenguin123 & -Noel- -- Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them!

Holodoc -- I start with the original LEGO set instructions and screen grabs from the movie. If I need more references when something isn't shown very well in the movie, I look at behind the scenes shorts. If that doesn't work, I view youtube videos of the LEGO Movie video game.

BrickFit26 -- Thanks! If you are referring to the images a couple of posts up, those are from kodlovag, who has been adding interior detail to one of the Bricksburg buildings.

kodlovag -- Another great design! I look forward to seeing the physical build. I'm familiar with LDD and I know there are several other software tools for LEGO building--which one are you using? Your images have a very clean look to them.

I got a note that this topic got mentioned on another website: http://www.tilesorstuds.com/2016/02/backyard-of-emmets-street.html
