Actor Builder Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 alex54, that's really weird. It shouldn't be hard to use a different SNOT piece instead though, unless I'm seeing it wrong. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 !?! Lemmie see how I did that area on mine... I'll post pics... Quote
alex54 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This is what I did too, but it's strange that LDD allows this. Pics of the result soon! Quote
Xon67 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Here's another warehouse-looking building that is used in several places in the background in Emmet's neighborhood. The taller one sits behind the hotel. The shorter one is used multiple times on the opposite side of the overpass from Emmet's apartment (behind the "Listen to Popular music" sign). Quote
alex54 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Before pictures, I have made a LDD file, which you can find here, of my modified version of Kabob stand: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/alex54/my-city-mocs/Bobs-kabob-stand/bobs_kabob_stand_mod.lxf In real, I missed the two white rounded pieces from the front of the stand, the grey doors (only have in white) and the greens are replaced by red and yellow. And last, I don't have brown and dark red 1x1 round plate with holed strud. Quote
Kristof Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Wow, I just discovered this thread and I can barely belive my eyes. Such a dedication. I love the studies and comparisons with real sets. You are doing excellent job here! Quote
lostdriveway Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I know I'm hijacking your thread a little bit but here are a couple of screen shots from the Scooby Doo short I was telling you about. I have a lot of them so if you want anymore just let me know! I have inside and out. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 alex54--Looks good! I look forward to seeing some pictures. krisandkris12--Thanks for the comments! Keep checking back, I have more coming. lostdriveway--That's an interesting mansion. Challenge accepted! I'll start a new topic when I'm able to begin on it. Quote
lostdriveway Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 lostdriveway--That's an interesting mansion. Challenge accepted! I'll start a new topic when I'm able to begin on it. Excellent! I would love to put it in brick form so I'll be looking forward to seeing how you go! Quote
Actor Builder Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Xon67, I know you've got a lot of stuff on your ever-growing list, but I have a brief thought: Metalbeard variants. From when he rebuilds into different random things. Like the singing dancing monkey-ish "Down on The Farm" thing. Also the Copy machine. Or maybe the copy Machine mid-transformation. Or maybe a walrus. Or whatever. I'll enjoy seeing whatever you make, so it doesn't matter in the end. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) "The Many Moods of Metalbeard," huh? I've wanted to do the copy machine for a while. I'll have to take a look at the "Down on the Farm" monkey to see how do-able it is. I could even throw in the Sea Cow set vs. the Dual set vs. the on-screen version. And let's not forget the "Hearty Crew" and screaming head with explosions in the background massacre-too-terrible-to-speak-of versions... Edited December 16, 2015 by Xon67 Quote
Actor Builder Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Haha, don't speak of that. It's too terrible. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Okay lostdriveway, I've started a new topic under the LEGO Licensed Theme for the Haunted Mansion. If you're going to build this out of real bricks, be prepared for a LARGE build! The link is in my signature. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 I didn't include the source for part of the office building when I first posted it. It includes the side walls and roof with skylights from the Town Hall set. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 (edited) Here's something that I thought was interesting. This is set 309 / 1309 Church, released in 1958. While it isn't the same scale as the church in the movie, I can't help but think that it had an influence on the final design that made it on screen. Edited December 20, 2015 by Xon67 Quote
miahbrick33 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 My G- O- S- H, this is amazing work! I noticed you mentioned Metal Beards copier, I have tried to build one and would love some critique on it! I have always wanted to share my lxf's of the Lego Movie I have been working on, to Eurobricks. 0000078 MCS PIRATES CODE.lxf by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr Quote
Xon67 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Hi miahbrick33--That looks awesome! If you have more, I'd like to see them. Feel free to post them here. Quote
miahbrick33 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Thank you. I wish that they were more precise, I have only used my dvd for reference in creating them. I have tried my hand at the Octan filming studio, but I am not sure why Bluerender does not like it. I will try again later today. The most interesting one so far was my TAKOS, getting the bands around the supply hose has been real fun. I was not too sure about where to post any of these so thank you so much again. I can't wait to see more of the building though, Its been a real holiday treat to stumble upon these! 0000114 MCS TAKOS.lxf by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr 0000609 MCS WHERES MY PANTS.lxf by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr 0001063 MCS 1980'S TECH.lxf by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr 0000208 MCS THINKTANK PRISONPOD by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr Quote
Xon67 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 miahbrick33--those are all fantastic! Thanks for sharing! I have all of those on my "to build" list as well. Keep posting--it would be great to see more. Quote
Actor Builder Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 miahbrick33, Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm a regular on this thread but I don't make any LDD files because computers hate me. I love the "Where Are My Pants?" Studio! Great job! Oh, and the copier looks accurate to me! Quote
miahbrick33 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Actor Builder, Thank You! Those two were just the prelim builds I created for the studio. I have pressed my laptop to the max and it took 49 minutes to render the "playset" studio, I call it that after noticing that the 80's something tech is at a different actual position than where I have placed it here. I also added some of my own touches and a video game easter egg. I was trying to find more shots of the layout and looked at the game, only to take the camera in the end. I have a larger angle shot posted with this one back at Flickr, along with link to all lxf's (as I don't know how to add them here or may not be able, due to my lack of posting). Thank you again for a place to post some of these. A Lego Movie PlaySet 002 by Jeremy Griffith, on Flickr Quote
shannanigan Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Wow... amazing! So much work... I applaud your dedication! Quote
Xon67 Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 That looks great! It's cool to see someone else also recreating the movie sets. Quote
Xon67 Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) Here's another condemned building from Emmet's neighborhood. It sits on the edge of the construction site. At the beginning of the movie, it gets blown up with explosives and knocked down with a wrecking ball, yet it still manages to remain standing at the end of the movie when Emmet returns to Bricksburg from Finn's basement.
