CM4Sci Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 They've already got some Mixel costumes out... Quote
Exetrius Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Fun bit of news Robert, thanks for sharing! Maybe I can now finally become the real green ninja, in an official costume . Seriously though, I am curious what ranges and figures they will be covering. Ninjago and Star Wars are mega popular, so I expect some ninja and a Lord Vader costume. I also wonder if these costumes will be available at Shop@Home. EDIT: Oh look at this: http://www.disguise.com/brands/shadow-ninjas-uprising Rip-offs! Edited September 6, 2015 by Exetrius Quote

Savage Oppress Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I am thinking maybe Lego Dimensions and Ninjago, since Disney already has Star Wars and Marvel covered and DC is already covered by WB Quote
DuckBricks Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I am thinking maybe Lego Dimensions and Ninjago, since Disney already has Star Wars and Marvel covered and DC is already covered by WB Dimensions would be tricky as I'm not sure how they represent mini figures- a Batman Minifig outfit could easily be represented as a regular Batman outfit, for example, unless somethin is done to distinguish them as minifigures... (Although I do really want a Doctor costume!) Quote
kingmob75 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) I am very excited to see what sort of costumes this will yield - I'm hoping for a Classic Spaceman and a Pirate Captain! To be fair to Disguise, it could be argued that Ninja have been popular in the US since the early to mid 80s, and that the concept of multi-colored Ninja characters in American Pop Culture dates back to around the same era, specifically with G.I. Joe [snake Eyes = Black, Storm Shadow = White, Jinx = Red, Cobra Ninja Viper = Teal, etc], or for a more recent example, Power Rangers. PR has done the multi-colored team of Ninja-esque warriors shtick in Japan for 40 years now, but they even specifically featured actual multi-colored Ninja characters in the US, about 20 years ago to be precise, with the Ninja Rangers in the third season of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers series [which itself used elements from the 1994 Japanese Super Sentai series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger]. TL;DR Version - it's a bit unfair to accuse Disguise of ripping off Ninjago when the precedent for Multi-Colored Ninja was set long before Ninjago's existence. If you want to accuse anyone of anything, how about calling LEGO out on ripping off Power Rangers? I wonder if they are going to release these costumes: Those would all be great! Or how about the new Monsters CMF characters [considering that they're a Halloween company and all]? Edited March 12, 2016 by kingmob75 Quote
Cagast Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Mixel costumes?? Never knew they are that popular. Quote

If you want to accuse anyone of anything, how about calling LEGO out on ripping off Power Rangers? In this case, you're right. Other than the sword, there's nothing here that Disguise could be said to be ripping off from Ninjago. They're just multicolored ninja, which LEGO has no exclusive rights to. However, there do exist some costumes from other companies that pretty blatantly rip off Ninjago minifigure designs, like Party City's Ninja Avenger costumes. It's fortunate that LEGO chose not to partner with a company with such a cavalier attitude towards their own IPs. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) Yes, I think the all thes monsters in the CMF theme has chances to be released as costumes I really hope this won't be only about licensed characters Edited September 11, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
Soupperson1 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I wonder if they are going to release these costumes: Probably not as there minifigures in existing costumes, so you could buy an existing one if you wanted Quote
Aanchir Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Yes, I think the all thes monsters in the CMF theme has chances to be released as costumes I really hope this won't be only about licensed characters Since Mixels costumes are already confirmed, that's not really a concern. Brickset categorizes Mixels as a licensed theme, but it is not really a licensed theme any more than the LEGO Movie is — all the character designs come from LEGO designers and LEGO and Cartoon Network share the rights for the brand as a whole. gamejutzu Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) To be honest those Ninjago costumes suck. A lot. It's just the same suit, with different colors. And it probably also comes in medium and large. I get that they're for kids, but.. gosh... There isn't a single good Ninjago costume out there. Each day, I keep thinking to either make one, or contact a skilled costume maker and just give him a deepstone ninja. (that suit would be the BEST in real life) Edited October 30, 2015 by gamejutzu Quote

It would be so cool to have a detailed, well-made high quality costume... Deepstone Lloyd suit, or Samurai X (ToE).... You'd need a specialized costume crafter for that, along with a big fat wallet, probably Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Uh, not sure where you have seen the Ninjago costumes, they aren't on their website as far as I can see. Um, it's on disguise's site. They suck though. Sorry, but it's true. You'd need a specialized costume crafter for that, along with a big fat wallet, probably It would be worth it. People can finally see what a real ninja suit looks like. All the other ones Halloweeners and cosplayers wear don't make them as detailed. And the companies making them create them quite generic. I'd probably try and have Cole's deepstone armor suit made. Edited November 6, 2015 by gamejutzu Quote
kingmob75 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Um, it's on disguise's site. They suck though. No, they're NOT on Disguise's site. http://www.disguise.com I've searched it up and down, the only LEGO-related costumes I can find are Mixels [which look pretty cool, even though I'm not into Mixels]. If you can find them, please provide a link; in the meantime, it's probably best not to spread misinformation. Edited November 6, 2015 by kingmob75 Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 No, they're NOT on Disguise's site. Oops, misinformation there, I confused it with Amazon's. They call the outfits "disguises", so my mind went to Disguise.com. Quote

Arctic_Ace Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 If the costumes are made by a different company, are they real LEGO or are they "fake-o"? I would like to see LEGO release a "clothing store" with spare torsos, pants and headgear. Quote

I would like to see LEGO release a "clothing store" with spare torsos, pants and headgear. They're not fake, even if they don't qualify as sets. They're just as real/official as any other LEGO licensed products like the storage bricks, display cases, and lunch boxes. They look pretty great too! I love that they actually imitate the trapezoidal minifigure shape instead of just being form-fitting, and that they even include shaped "gloves" to make your hands look like minifigure hands! The printed faces are also spot-on. I wonder what other character costumes might be available later this year. Quote

From the press release: “We are thrilled to be working with Disguise to produce official LEGO costumes. This is a great opportunity for us to enable children to truly become their favorite LEGO character and engage in their favorite LEGO play experience in a new way,” says Andrea Ryder, Senior Director, Licensing, the LEGO Group."
