...but I'd hate to see all the entries being either mobile-, tower-, harbour-, or crawler cranes :classic:

I would love to see several tower cranes!! Especially interesting to see different builders, solve the same problems. The best will definitely get my vote

So can we do a nasa skycrane ?

Sky cranes are not allowed as the emphasis needs to be on the crane.

Just so we're clear can it be something like the 8436?

094.jpg

It has no other function other than the crane

Also great contest idea, should result in some interesting entries

What is the judging criteria? Is it aesthetics? The ability to lift the most weight? The tallest crane? Best replica?

Just to make the crane that is better than the others :) Voters will decide. Obtaining any of the achievements you mentioned is certainly a plus!

Exactly like 8436 is not allowed, since it cannot hoist.

Also, The emphasis needs to be on the crane. So make the model that, when someone sees it, says: "Wow look at that crane!" and just then, few moments later: "Oh, it sits on a truck!" :)

There's just so much to choose from.

I for one can't decide between these:

220px-Sandhill_bare_areas.jpg or 220px-Anthropoides_virgo_-Cape_May_Zoo%2C_New_Jersey%2C_USA_-head-8a_%281%29.jpg or 220px-Grey_crowned_crane_at_Martin_Mere.JPG

Hmm, its ok, but please note that right now they have a grab attachment, they need to have some hoist mechanism :)

Hmm, could probably be arranged.. I'd have to do some real life testing first, before adopting it to Lego.. I'll let you know how it goes

I have been discussing this with Milan. Allowing al previous LDD created MOCs isn't entirely fair, but we feel a bit sorry for you. On the other hand; you can probably create something similar (without exactly copying) in real bricks.

Thanks for the opportunity, I will consider this my plan B. I have another (twin) project in my mind, I will focus on this first. This contest is a nice excuses to actually finish a MOC  .

One question though, what is the motivation for the mandatory video? Does it need to explain the functions or do you consider it as a sort of a proof of authenticity?

Great timing! I'm building a large Liebherr right now, but it was started well before this was announced. Is it OK to enter ? It hasn't been completed yet or seen elsewhere.

If it was not posted before, it is perfectly ok. In fact, now as you teased with the big Liebherr, you must enter! :)

This could be a way to display your entry and demonstrate boom and chassis strength.

Sweet!

Arent you going with your mega-Knuckleboom-lots-of-thin-long-penumatics-in-three-version-marvel-crane? :) I was really looking forward to see that monster!

Both :) And we want to enjoy in observing all those great cranes in motion.

As with every video of the moc, try to present your model the best you can, with all the functions, modes, features etc.

@ Milan: they work very well actually and they sit on a 8X8 chassis with leafs springs! But as I've shown them already (even if a little of) they won't be "never seen before"!

@ Jim: thanks Jim, this time I won't disappoint you asi didn't make the TC7, Sariel got me a it upset that time and also disappointed with that request of closing my post down!

I have an Idea for a special tower crane! But let's talk about it when I post some pics!

You can always enter with a "fourth" version of that crane, based on the similar design. I would really like to see it, but a proper tower crane would be awesome as well!

In that case, count me in! Thanks Milan.
