Looks like a crane (or hoist) to me!!

I'm not so sure about extending the deadline.

The deadline is set, and known to everyone. Everyone can make some sort of a guess how much time they have over the coming two months. People should adjust their model and scale to that time frame.

You can start building a 1:8 scale LTM1500, but it won't be done in time. So if you want to win, don't build a 1:8 LTM1500.

That's true. In my experience, the more time people have the later they will start "because they still have enough time"

(I for one work best with a little pressure)

A hoist is a type of crane (imho). So a hoist is crane, but a crane isn't necessarily a hoist. Why does it matter?

Do you want to build something specific, which was not covered so far?

Regarding the deadline, Jim has always left a grace-period of few more days (even if he did not need to), to help thise few more entries get to the finish line.

We could discuss this later (a month from now), but please, for now lets stick to the current deadline.

I for one have been building nonstop (after all my college work is done) because I'm worried I won't make the deadline in time

Just want to check, in a container crane, it has a grab attachment to attach to the containers. This is allowed right because it's main purpose is hoisting.

I vote for keeping the deadline as originally stated. Build smaller people.

What happened to the pro beginner categories from TC7 ?

+1 Because it means that those people like me who don't have as much experience/parts as the people with pro tags can have a chance at doing well (Just look at ZBLJ's progress so far ). It makes the contest seem more doable and will cause more people to enter the competition. Another factor when people vote is the fact that I can imagine some people's votes will be persuaded by if the entry is made by a well known and popular builder.

Currently there are no prizes (yet). So there's no need for two categories.

Does future or concept crane fit within fantasy crane, and therefore not allowed?

Some freedom is certainly allowed, but as we noted before, try to stay within known types of cranes.. What exactly you have in mind?
