Zerobricks Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Here's the finsihed thing, Jim please remove the [WIP] Summary of functions: - All wheel drive (8x8xx) powered by 4 XL motors - Full live axle suspension - Working lights, fake engine and steering wheel - Four angled supports with pneumatic rams powered by an autopump - Liftable crane also powered by an autopump - 3-part extendable crane arm with working winch and slewing - Working winch with an automatic stopping system - Tiltable cab to reaveal the V8 piston engine - All functions with exception of winch are remotely controlled Length: 89 cm Width: 23 cm Height: 30 cm Total weight: 5,5 kg And of course the video: To summer up: This was one of my biggest, longest builds... I recorded the model on different locations at least 5 different times, totally recording over 5 hours of footage / 30 Gb of raw data. The video took me at least 5 days to edit, with an exceptional amount of tweaks, edits, greenscreen effects, fish-eye lens compensation, color correction and more... This was also ym first time I used LDD aniamtion sequences with additional opaque frames. I learned A LOT from the whole process and I think it helped me advance and opened up more possibilities for the future models and especially videos. So even though it may not be the best looking or functional model, it was still a great learning experience. P.S. And this is what the crane looked like after recording: Edited October 29, 2015 by Zblj Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Thanks again for another excellent build! Nice video as I told you at YT... Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Looks like it would be useful for trial truck challenge, though it has a couple extra XL motors. Great job modeling it at a large scale. Quote
MacKaiwer Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Wow! This is seriously cool! My jaw dropped so much when I looked your video that my mouth is still open It's so huge and still so elegant, it has so excellent functions and your video is amazing I definitely will remember you when voting begins Now I try to put my jaw back to its' place. Freakin' awesome! Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) Zblj! Great truck! Maybe I would like to see it's skills as Trial Truck... Did you tried to drive it on any truck trial style roads with obstacles etc... When you got more videos you can make then so simple video from it... Thanx... Max... When you got more videos you can make then so simple video from it... Thanx... Max... Thank guys! At the moment its has somewhere around medium offroad capabilities.. BUT Yes it could be used for truck trial, but without a crane and softer suspension. Also steering system would have to be reinforced a bit to take on the additional streain from bumps. And raising drive motors a bit higher would also allow it to go over larger bumps. Oh and lastly... NO DIFFS! Quote
Technic Jim Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I impressed that you managed to build this at such a big size and at the same time as your 2045 Mercedes Benz truck. This will definitely have my ten points. Thank you for sharing this amazing model with us. Quote
A Gallifreyan Cat Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Or you could use it as a trial truck and hoist other trucks out of ditches with the crane... Quote
Sir Wolf Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Wow! What an impressive crane! The video, it's really great, lot's of nice work you've put into it! I especially like the mud parts! Awesome! I bet it wasn't so much fun to clean the thing, but I was surprized by how clean the underside was. Good work! Quote
Lucio Switch Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Great Truck! I really like it! Especially the steering system! The fake engine is not connected to the driveline, right? And, how is the rigidity of the chassis?..just curiosity considering that I'm building something similar. Quote
