rodiziorobs Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Unlike a lot of commenters here, I quite like the mustache and beard pieces! As far as skirts, I like any kind of cloth, although I don't usually use them on minifigs. I guess there aren't really any that I dislike... Quote
CaptainToad Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 The scimitar with nicks is disproportionately large. It might be OK if it had a longer handle and therefore could be considered a two-handed weapon, but it doesn't. As for the short, scruffy beard, the top edge is wrong. Human facial hair doesn't grow at that angle. It should be flush with the face. I also can't stand fleshy parts, but I was thinking more about unfortunate moulds rather than colours. What parts do you not like and why? I like the beard piece - the scimitar is not that bad The first thing that you notice about the minifig is that its totally disproportionate. I mean have you ever seen people who have bodies about three times the size of their heads? :) Lego's scale and size is not realistic - if it was I would agree witht the beard - otherwise its a nice addition to me. True, the scale is not completely realistic, but at least most of the weapons and accessories feel proportionate to the minifigure. The scimitar feels like a sword that's as big as a person, it looks ridiculous compared to all other swords. Quote
Abaddon127 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I don't like the Flintlock Pistol, or the Flintlock Musket. If they could just lengthen the barrels of both, and get rid of the Blunderbuss muzzles, I'd love them. Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I hate the schimitar, and capes when used for jedi robes lego could have something way better now, I also hate the plastic hip/holster thing on the old phase 1 captain rex figure it makes leg possibility useless, i also hate the old Mando head since there head couldn't turn. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Ditto for the scimitar. It is really being overused right now. Basically, most bad guys regardless of theme, seem to be assigned this weapon. I am also not crazy about the blasters that shoot round 1x1's, which have been in some of the Star Wars sets. Quote
Iria Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Not a fan of the wrench- Way too big and they tend to dwarf the minifig in possession of it. I know there are wrenches in real life that match that scale, but they're not an everyday item. Quote

I'm not sure I have used it as a minifig accessory... Quote
Robert8 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Not a fan of the wrench- Way too big and they tend to dwarf the minifig in possession of it. Same with the popsicle part Quote
Takanuinuva Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Same with the popsicle part I think its just fine. Who wouldn't want to eat a popsicle the size of their head Quote
fred67 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 ^^ Gives "brain freeze" a whole new meaning. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) And the same goes to the Erlenmeyer fask piece. It's totally out of proportion I think its just fine. Who wouldn't want to eat a popsicle the size of their head Edited September 16, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
Space Police XVIII Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I don't like the Flintlock Pistol, or the Flintlock Musket. If they could just lengthen the barrels of both, and get rid of the Blunderbuss muzzles, I'd love them. Agreed. Those things are just ugly. That huge scimitar has its use, but it's being overused right now. Zombie Pirate would be better with a regular scimitar. The stud shooter pistol is terrible if it's a pistol, but there's a variety of pieces that can be stuck on the back to make it a two-handed heavy weapon, which looks halfway decent. One thing I really can't stand are cloth bits. Quote
Darkstone Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Agree with jFox, the leg armour on Star Wars figures is awful, you can't move or pose the figure. In general I'm not a fan of the fabric accessories either, plastic parts for me please. On the subject of over-sized accessories I've always wondered why the walkie talkie radio things are so big. Quote
x105Black Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I didn't get any figures with that leg armor, but I was considering picking some of it up. Now that I've read these posts, I can see why that would be a bad idea. Quote
Sven F Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I agree on the beard piece, it just doesn't look like a beard, not a fan of skirts or slope dresses either, but i think the worst piece is that humongous turkey from scala, it looks like a fried dinosaur. Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 On the subject of over-sized accessories I've always wondered why the walkie talkie radio things are so big. seems about right to me Quote
AmperZand Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 Haha, that sword and beard is part of new Series 14 CMF Zombie Pirate. Indeed which is why my zombie pirate has neither: I don't like fleshie parts. They clash with my yellow goodness from the 1980's. Couldn't agree more. Quote
Borex Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I don't like that short legs won't bend. Quote
CptPJs Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 (edited) I find all the accessories are far too big, because my first experience of most of the accessories was in the hand of Belville figures, where they seemed perfectly proportioned! Edited September 18, 2015 by CptPJs Quote
AmperZand Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 I don't like that short legs won't bend. If you're a non-purist, try: http://www.brickfortress.com/ ... which I used for MOC goblins: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/goblins.jpg Quote
x105Black Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I don't like that short legs won't bend. I'm on board with that. I've gotten used to the idea that any set with dwarves will need a separate purchase of regular sized pants. Sure, they're not dwarves anymore, but I like them much better with full legs for a wider variety of poses. Quote
62Bricks Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I'm going to be honest: I've thrown several of those scimitars away because I thought they were MB! They appear so un-LEGO to me I never even looked closely to see if they actually were... Quote
obsidianheart Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 The problem I always have with short legs and dress-slopes is putting the character into a vehicle without it looking weird or resorting to replacement "real legs". Quote
Robert8 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 The short legs is an issue they'll have to fix at some point It's just too annoying Quote
