September 16, 20159 yr Congrats on a great looking model. I had been working on the same idea for a long time and just posted my model. It looks like yours could turn out a real gem. I especially love the front bodywork. I worked forever on that and could not get near what you've done
September 16, 20159 yr Red rims are planned. Not sure whether will get custom made covers or whether I will paint the power-puller rims red... I think both options can work. Custom covers may cost slightly more than 4x used PP wheels + model paint. Looking forward to the photos!
September 17, 20159 yr Author @JBrost On the inside the tyre fits perfectly on the rim, on the outer side it is clamped behind the rim flange. It does not look that good. It is possible to glue the tyre to the rim. Whether I will do that depends on my decision: cover or paint. Tyres are GMade Bighorns...exact the same width as the PP rim. @GroundskeeperWillie Thanks! I like you design, too. Lots of functions within a small space...respect! I will be in America shortly and I think I will get the tractor tyres....that will be aaaaawesome pic: Edited September 17, 20159 yr by JBTechnic
September 18, 20159 yr Author ...forgot to mention another feature: the front swing axle https://flic.kr/p/yKkJPb Edited September 18, 20159 yr by JBTechnic
September 22, 20159 yr Author The size is great! Nice work! It's just the type of project that I would see a set of these tires on: http://store.rc4wd.c...ire_p_4319.html Red covers (or red 6x6 dishes) would also give it a nice realistic touch if you decide to go there. Hope the kids liked what you built! ...checked out the tyres and found out they are to big in diameter..current ones I use are around 131mm,,, ...going to 151mm tyres would mean to relocate fenders which would be out of scale... original tyres on the Xerion are around 2100mm (scale of 1:16 => 131mm) Still on the search for tractor tyres with an outer diameter of 131mm....

There is a 1.9" version at 113.9mm, but I guess that might be a few mm too small in diameter. Also the inner diameter might require different rims. Good luck in your search! I know many people have been searching for good tractor tires (and motorbike wheels/tires, but that's another story).
November 19, 20159 yr Author Stumbled over these: http://tamico.de/Tamiya-Reifen-Spike-Monster-2-Stk-50374 Look more like tractor, don't they?
November 19, 20159 yr Yeah, they look like a deep-treaded tractor tyre, I think they would suit the Xerion nicely as long as they're big enough.
November 19, 20159 yr Author They are 1mm smaller in diameter and the width is 56mm. So should be good. Edited November 19, 20159 yr by JBTechnic
November 19, 20159 yr Very nice model JB, I like a lot. I wonder what rim/tyre combo TLG will come up with for there own version of the Xerion?
November 19, 20159 yr They are 1mm smaller in diameter and the width is 56mm. So should be good. This is a great site! Some good choice here. Are these 1.9 inch that you're looking at? They seldom give the inner diameter in mm so I find it difficult to tell. I wonder what rim/tyre combo TLG will come up with for there own version of the Xerion? I won't be surprised to see more balloons rolling around. Some new treads would certainly be due!
November 19, 20159 yr They are 1mm smaller in diameter and the width is 56mm. So should be good. They are 127mm. 121 without spikes, and 58 width. The 56 mm (2.2) has more to do with the rim size.
November 19, 20159 yr Author Thanks! I hoped they would not count the spikes. 121 might be a bit too small. The width of 58 is fine. The 2.2 (56mm) is the same I do have on my Bighorns, so they will fit on the power puller rim... Let's see how they will look like.
November 19, 20159 yr I didn't know that 2.2 would fit. That's good news then! Happy to see the photos if you get them. Edited November 19, 20159 yr by SevenStuds
November 20, 20159 yr Author Currently I got these on the power puller rims: http://tamico.de/Gma...Reifen-22-2-Stk The width is what cause some trouble: https://flic.kr/p/yGXA6L Here a picture where the tyre is clamped between the edges: https://flic.kr/p/yNqmTV This works fine wth steering and speeding but doesn't look that good. November 21, 20159 yr Author Tyres arrived :-) ..... They do fit on the power puller rim :-) ....They do not look good :-( ...Diameter is too small...by approx. 5-6 mm :-((( https://flic.kr/p/ARTFCu https://flic.kr/p/AmCzXZ Edited November 21, 20159 yr by JBTechnic
November 21, 20159 yr I agree the looks are not that good as you would expect... Especially those studs are weird, don't you agree? To bad, quite some money spend I guess...
November 21, 20159 yr ^I think they would look more like Agri tyres without the spikes too. Edited November 21, 20159 yr by Technic-Kobaltz
November 21, 20159 yr Author Yep! I was hoping it would be OK. Wasn't that much money because they we're on sale... and I can return them. ...and the search continues...
January 6, 20169 yr Author Hi! Worked on the three point hitch and used long cyliders. I fear that it won't lift that much...any suggestions? Like to stick with an air powered hitch since there is not that much space for a mecanical solution. Regards Jörg
January 7, 20169 yr Happy New Year! Put some color on my socks.... https://flic.kr/p/BNtZfA That looks really good!!!!
January 8, 20169 yr Author Hi all! Pumped up the air tank with the manual pump...worked good! Think I need to work on the pump..maybe a double pump?
