The first Version is now running smooth. The steering works fine and the pneumatische is also doing its job.

Howerver In decided to look for more space and I started to work on the front axle:

Lego Xerion swing axle

This way I can make the frame stiffer and it will be more like the real one (no portal axles). The reduction is now right at the motor.

Hello JB,

Don't know if the question has been asked before, but which rims did you use?

From the looks of it, this one is bigger then the new one from TLG.

The ones from the power puller...painted Claas red (sorry to all Lego purists

No offense taken, I've painted my pneumatic cylinders white to put on my white crane on the back of the Actros I am building.

Changed the cabin a bit ...new picture wil follow

Edited by JBTechnic

The cabin is nice and overall it is a great model but i think that the back axl is mounted 1 stud to low. That is why the tractor standing higher at the back and lower at the front. The ladder to clime in to the cab is for that reason not in a upright position. The other thing that is not right are the cilinders of the 3 point hook, they are to long.

  • Author

Thanks!

I cannot think of something that made me design the rear axle at a different hight than the front one :). I think it is the angle of the camera...I'll see.

Regarding the cylinders, what is your suggestion, keep in mind I'd like to use pneumatic functions?

JB

That is much better. It was the angle of the camera. Maybe you could use the small short cilinders. Then the up position now could be the down position.

it seems like you have various positive and negative experience with 3rd party tires fitting wheel racing 62 x 46 (the one on your Xerion). did you find tire that fits the same wheel or 56 X 34 that is 135mm x 50mm and that tread is as close as possible to new 107 x 44 from LEGO. because I plan new tractor project from autumn when LEGO Xerion 5000 will be available

thanks to everyone who can help me

Hi John!

Sorry, I am also on the search for more tractor like tyres...don't get me wrong, the Bighorns my Xerion is wearing are cool!

This shop has some really good ones but it is almost 25 EURO a piece!

...or check this out....tyre #432 is pretty cool...

Hi

first of all thank you for info. I'll see what kind of tread for tractors is "compatible" with new LEGO Xerion tire which is good for front.

On second page, second row could be promising.

http://home.arcor.de/hobbybedarfkunz/Preisliste2013_Seite%202.pdf

so I have to contact moder tire manufacturer to see what can be done. Just hope that Tires are not to heavy, but I'll see what can be done...

btw I don't think that I'm John. Perhaps as a John doe my life would be better, who knows...

thanks
