His mission on Crentium had gone well, and due to his putting in double and occasional triple shifts, he had managed to work off nearly 20% of his restitution to M.A.N.T.I.S. The hazard pay had helped, although it had made the work miserable. His work had been enough to get him off of probation, which meant he could do some actual science now, and possibly be eligible for more spying missions. Scorpio was even further elated that their missions on Crentium's polar regions had finished. He wanted nothing more than to leave that desolate snowfield. His excitement melted when he received his next mission: Marden. Ugh. Kawashita had established an early presence there but abandoned it, and Scorpio knew why; the whole planet was an icy wasteland. He would be accompanying Big Sal on a science expedition. Sal wanted to test a new laser system and suspected Marden had the right kind of fuel to enable his experiments. Andromeda Week 15ish by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Andromeda Week 15ish by rodiziorobs, on Flickr He was piloting a craft designed for quick maneuvering over the snowy terrain, like a rocket with skis. It sported two massive air intakes to enable the velodrive thruster on the back. This particular propulsion system produced a thick green exhaust, but was incredibly efficient in cold weather, enabling very high speeds over the ice. It also featured twin laser prods on the front, in case of the occasional stray Wampa. The laser was a success, but he needed more fuel to power it--a kind of bean which grew plentifully on Marden. Scorpio quickly gathered what he could, stowed it in a jar, and sped off to Sal's location. I practically SNOTted myself to death trying to get this to hold together, but am pleased with the result. Edited September 14, 2015 by rodiziorobs Quote
