Vorkosigan Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I couldn't find much evidence of what that book was, probably something similar to the books they make nowadays to tie in to various themes: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Nexo-Power-Rules-Knights/dp/0241254051 lightningtiger presumably thought it was an unreleased book and its title would have indicated a return of space police. lightningtiger Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 That is not a new book, its from 1998: http://www.biblio.co...nna/d/258117872 Well according to Book Depository release date is 3/12/2015, funny and what is it to do with Lego - it's written for Lego plus what is next years sci-fi theme if any ? Aanchir Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Well according to Book Depository release date is 3/12/2015, funny and what is it to do with Lego - it's written for Lego plus what is next years sci-fi theme if any ? Arguably, Nexo Knights. Star Wars and Super Heroes too, if you count licenses. And Ninjago also has shades of sci-fi, as usual. Really, there's no shortage of sci-fi sets for 2016. Remember, LEGO doesn't break its themes down into the same categories Eurobricks does. The Action/Adventure subforum on Eurobricks is on some levels just a collection of all the themes the other subforums have decided they don't want. Quote
tafkatb Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Neo-Classic Space fans might want to check out that astronaut in the Series 15 Minifigures! Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I think he is more City than Sci-Fi The flag has a gorgeous CS planet logo print. Quote
Artanis I Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 The new version of the evil mech is good though. Quote
tafkatb Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I think he is more City than Sci-Fi Well, yeah, I was mostly just mentioning it for the classic space logos. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Speaking of classic space logos... does anything about this screenshot of the Nexo Knights Merlok 2.0 app catch your attention? No guarantee that'll be showing up as a printed shield in a set, since the Merlok 2.0 app is designed to scan shields from not only the sets but also books, TV episodes, and LEGO.com. But it's a shout-out that I for one appreciated, and that I will be looking out for in future sets and media! Edited December 14, 2015 by Aanchir Quote
danth Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Speaking of shout outs, check out the space ship in the background of this picture: Quote
Ralphel Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) Speaking of shout outs, check out the space ship in the background of this picture: the base on the left looks similar to the terran base in starcraft Edited December 19, 2015 by LuxorV Please do not quote images from the same page. Thank you. Quote
Ardelon Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) I think its more about the spaceship looking like the Futuron 6932 Stardefender "200". Not to mention the UFO looking like the 7052 UFO Abduction, or the cockpit part of 7065 Alien Mothership, of Alien Conquest. EDIT: replaced image Edited December 17, 2015 by Ardelon Quote

Bob De Quatre Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 Guys the wait is over!! TLG heard us and we'll finaly get a new Sci-Fi theme in 2016!! Quote
Artanis I Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 If we are lucky this could inspire more young space Lego fans, bringing about a market for exploration/adventure based system sets in a few years. Quote
Pimbo Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Guys the wait is over!! TLG heard us and we'll finaly get a new Sci-Fi theme in 2016!! <image> I'm... confused... about these pictures.... what? Oh well, I suppose we had rodent motorcyclists from Mars in my days... But with all these Disney licences there's bound to be another sci-fi theme in the future.. but I'm not getting my hopes up for a normal yellow minifig theme anytime soon... The 6932 reference is awesome though - some Lego designers might be as desperate as we are for a classic space theme. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Guys the wait is over!! TLG heard us and we'll finaly get a new Sci-Fi theme in 2016!! Ha, I got a giggle out of this. Truth be told these sets are really cute. I absolutely LOVE that little slime alien! If we are lucky this could inspire more young space Lego fans, bringing about a market for exploration/adventure based system sets in a few years. Yes, I agree. Up until recently there was a serious dearth of space-related Duplo sets (as opposed to, say, Castle or Pirate or Town Duplo), but between this theme and the "My First Rocket" set it looks like we're finally starting to see more sci-fi even at the preschool level. Isundir Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I'm... confused... about these pictures.... what? Oh well, I suppose we had rodent motorcyclists from Mars in my days... The best kind of motorcyclists for sure. Quote

NotMegalodon Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Yea, I agree and I think that's about it... It is. I think the background is from the minifigures online game, where a 'space world' is included. Which is based mostly on classic space. Quote
-zenn Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) About this year; Nexo Knights, mix of Castle and futuristic features... It's too much Castle IMO. I don't like it. Why not a proper Space Theme!? A Whole new race or something. They could expanded on several of the collectible figures. For instance; 'Galaxy Patrol' Hey Classic Space 2.0! or 'Space Miners' How about a Mining Rig installation dispatched by OcTan Corp on a meteorite... And the Classic Alien just ask for an abduction theme... with a lots of testing with probes (been watching the new X-Files) Edited January 31, 2016 by -zenn Quote
