the fixer Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I highly doubt the set will come with the checker cab. I guess a big 'feature' like that would've been mentionned in the description, no? Would've been cool though.. I just hope pictures will surface soon so a lot of our questions will be answered... Quote

8BrickMario Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 While it is a long wait, I'll be very surprised if no other info leaks between the estimated reveal and now. LEGO just can't keep anything under wraps these days. In the meantime, I'll be happily watching the movie(s) in anticipation. I will forever respect LEGO if they include the metaphor Twinkie in there somewhere! Quote
6ix Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 They should include the ghost from Ray's dream Quote
legonerd54321 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 They should include the ghost from Ray's dream That'd be a sly move for LEGO So, here is all we know: 1.The pavement will (most likely) have the pink ooze...oozing out of the pavement. I'm guessing it will come with some hot pink 1x1 and some transparent pink 1x1 to represent the ooze coming out. 2.There will be mini figures from both(?) movies. [Just a thought] 3.There will be a few play features including a)Containment unit [most likely having it burst into a few pre-built pieces] b)Firepole(s) [self-explainitory] c)Placing ghosts around the firehouse (not sure if considered a play feature but I like it) Things I'd like to see: 1. Proton streams. I'd love to see them as pieces. 2.The brick built PKE Meter we see in LEGO Dimensions 3.The Dancing Toaster. Please. 4.The slime cannons from the 2nd movie I'll edit this when I think of some more Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Dunno how this works, but is it possible to add the new set description to the first post? I was looking to reread it, so I headed there, since that's what happens in the other threads I'm following. I found it, so no worries, I was just surprised it wasn't there already. Also, They should include the ghost from Ray's dream HA! Edited October 21, 2015 by rob-ot5000 Quote
Aegis1984 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Perhaps it will include a brick-built Stay-Puft marshmallow man too? A few years ago in the Star Wars clone wars line, there was a small Jabba's son (Rotta?) minifig. Could that be tweaked to be Slimer, perhaps? Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 A few years ago in the Star Wars clone wars line, there was a small Jabba's son (Rotta?) minifig. Could that be tweaked to be Slimer, perhaps? No need - we already know there's a special, dedicated Slimer figure coming in a LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack. They'll surely use the same molds for the character in this set as in that one (though they might conceivably tweak the print for his facial expression). Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Well, once I buy this set, what am I going to do with my duplicate Ghostbusters? Draw evil-parallel-universe-goatees on them? Seriously though, I know this issue has been discussed, but it's still bothersome to me. It looks like there's no superfluous Ecto-1 (I have no love for GB2, so I don't even remember what an Ecto-1A is, even...), but what about the minifigs? It would be nice, for me, if they were all in civvies or something, in order to differentiate them from the previous versions, but it wouldn't be so nice for fans who get this set but NOT the Ecto-1. (Though, honestly, who would do that, since there's presumably no Ecto-1 in this set?) I know the Dimensions version of Venkman has arm-printing and a new hairpiece, but it doesn't seem like enough. I would actually rather the set came with NONE of the Ghostbusters and four more ghosts instead. That way the new set would truly complement the old set without this awkward, weird middle ground. (Although if this ends up being my biggest complaint, that's not too shabby. GBHQ, wooooooo!) In short... ...anyone wanna buy a set of 4 Ghostbuster minifigs? Nearly every licensed theme duplicates characters between sets; it's not remotely a Ghostbusters-specific issue. Someone who collects one of every item released for The Simpsons, for example, is going to have five minifigures of Homer Simpson, four of which are extremely similar to one another, and the same again for Bart. And that's nothing compared to the numbers of Harry Potters, Gandalfs and Luke Skywalkers collectors of those other themes will have, especially if they get multiples of sets. Even with characters appearing in different versions (different outfits, ages, etc.), some duplication is practically inevitable. Heck, I have over fifty minifigures of Indiana Jones. __________________________ Now that TLG is getting a bit more adventurous with transparent minifigure elements, as seen extensively throughout the latest Ninjago sets, I wonder whether the library ghost might use a lot of trans parts to capture her ethereal nature. This is definitely a valid point, but with GB, it's a bit more noticeable since there will be only two products attached to the license, not counting the Dimensions "sets", whereas all the other themes have had lots of other products. As for me personally, I haven't been back in the game long enough for this to really be an issue yet, not with the sets I buy, but yeah, I definitely have plenty of Batmen. Don't suppose you'd want to trade for one of your Indiana Jonseses?? Quote

kelceycoe Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 So it looks like the Ecto-1 IDEAS set is getting a re-release? Is this news? http://shop.lego.com...rs-Ecto-1-21108 No, it's not being "re-released." It was never discontinued. TLC makes a certain number of sets and this time they sold out again. That's been a new thing for this set since this year and now that more people know about the HQ coming up they're tempted to buy the Ecto-1. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) This is definitely a valid point, but with GB, it's a bit more noticeable since there will be only two products attached to the license, not counting the Dimensions "sets", whereas all the other themes have had lots of other products. I do count the Dimensions sets, since they're still LEGO sets with LEGO parts, after all (in my five Homers and five Barts example earlier, one apiece of each of those two characters comes from the Dimensions packs). With the LEGO Dimensions packs, Ghostbusters will have a total of (at least) five products and honestly I don't think the duplication will be too bad. Someone who gets one of each will have three Peter Venkmans (apparently all unique), plus two of each other Ghostbuster as well as of Slimer. It sounds as though the Venkman in this big set will be a "slimed" version, which will at least give one a reason to have both it and one of the others. It's just too bad the Ectomobile didn't have arm printing on the team, or the better hairpiece options that will come with the later Venkman and perhaps Zeddemore minifigures. But it does offer an opportunity for improvement, which might make it easier for some to pay for a new set that comes with the same four characters (plus a bunch of new ones). I actually like having extras of specific characters, for possible convenience for brickfilm purposes, as well as "multi-scene" MOCs and such that might show specific characters in multiple scenes at the same time (like how the official 10188 Death Star set has two Hans and three Lukes). I've actually wanted for a long time to make a huge Indiana Jones display combining lots of scenes at once. As for me personally, I haven't been back in the game long enough for this to really be an issue yet, not with the sets I buy, but yeah, I definitely have plenty of Batmen. Don't suppose you'd want to trade for one of your Indiana Jonseses?? Um, well... See the above! I feel kind of bad, since I know not everyone got all the Indy sets and I have so many, but I actually do want to keep all of mine. But that said, I might be able to help out anyway, if you're truly interested in having an Indy minifigure without paying aftermarket prices. I think I might still be able to pick up the second magnet set at MSRP - I just got a copy a few months ago, all these years after the theme went on its indefinite hiatus, and I think there are still a few left, if you'd like me to look. The Ecto-1 wasn't allowed to have new molds made for it, but it acted as a gateway toward a restriction-free theme which could introduce better pieces. Now that these are coming out, the Ecto is really about the car, not the figs, but I do appreciate the variety. Quote

Now that these are coming out, the Ecto is really about the car, not the figs, but I do appreciate the variety. I'm aware; the greater disappointment was the lack of arm printing, as the "no ghosts" emblem shoulder patch is the single most important, iconic and recognizable aspect of the uniforms. I think the issue is that while an Ideas set theoretically could have used arm printing, TLG apparently has a much more limited capacity for arm printing than for printing on heads, torsos, etc., as it's a more recent innovation and not all their plants are set up for it, and all their production lines that do minifigure arm printing were solidly booked for other themes. But at least it's happening now. Quote
BritishBrickFan Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 well I've got a couple of Ecto-1s now, so depending on what happens the price is for the HQ, I might buy a couple of those too! Quote
badbob001 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 ...anyone wanna buy a set of 4 Ghostbuster minifigs? If there are lockers in the new set (or if you add them), then you can hang the old torso and legs there. Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 If there are lockers in the new set (or if you add them), then you can hang the old torso and legs there. Ha, spare uniforms. That's a solid enough idea Quote
Fuppylodders Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Oh my gosh, that slimer is perfect! I didnt know about that! I am one of those that falls in the 'wasnt going to buy ecto 1 but now theyre releasing a GBHQ, have now bought it with the intention of getting the GBHQ' category. How many of you fall in that as well? Its interesting to think how many more ecto 1's they will sellbpurely because theyre making the GBHQ... As much as i hate scalpers, i think both these sets will be a scalpers paradise. Quote
