kelceycoe Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 The fact that they even stretched to make a HQ and refused to select any set from this last IDEAS review means anythings possible. Quote

badbob001 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I may need to rewatch the movies, but no other scenes from the movies comes out as a obvious possibility for a set idea (think play features!). Hotel (first job): too boring / no play features Library: too boring / no play features Dana's apartment: too boring / no play features Statue of Liberty: too big Museum: too big / not much action Sewers: boring *Maybe* the apartment rooftop scene with Gozer and the terror dogs? A full Staypuff figure seems unlikely, but they could just show his head and a hand. If anything, it'll only be vignettes and not a full structure as is the GBHQ. It could end up like the Simpsons... only major and adult-oriented sets. Perhaps more ideas will come out with the new movie. Quote

A set based on the new Chinese Restaurant HQ that's supposed to feature in the reboot would be interesting. Quote

Both the Hotel and Library could have exploding functions, like blowout tables and bookshelves. As for the rooftop, yes! "Cross the streams! Edited November 5, 2015 by Aegis2000 Quote

I expect a single set from the new movie (whatever that may be) and that's it. Quote

I'd expect at least two, the HQ and the new ECTO, probably a small one just to balance it out. Basically like the Ninja Turtles movie sets- I'd think two of the Ghostbusters ( A and B ), then the middle set (the car) h aving B and C , and then the large one (HQ) having C and D. Quote

I don't understand what you're trying to say with A, B, C, and D. Do the letters represent the four ghostbuster characters? If the new sets are anything like the ninja turtle sets, then most likely I would only be interested in the characters as the buildings and vehicles would be play-oriented and unrealistic. Would this hq be as big as the one we are getting in January Imagine if LEGO made a GBHQ-quality set for every new theme, similar to the Haunted House for Monster Fighters. The kids can play with the smaller play-feature sets while the adults can have at the detailed mega set. They may have started already: Death Star Temple of Airjitzu A really well done D2C set can get people to buy it even if they don't normally care about a particular theme. The Temple of Airjitzu could be made to be part of a modular town. I'm not into DC/Marvel, but they made a nice Wayne Manor/Bat Cave, I could be tempted. Edited November 6, 2015 by badbob001 Quote

Yeah, considering they're doing a Ghostbusters HQ set based on the original films I will be surprised if there's no sets based on the reboot. Makes sense for LEGO to remind people of the original Ghostbusters first, then do sets based on the new movie. There must be a reason for the HQ to exist as a set in the first place for it to exist. Agent 86 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I wonder how Modular-esque the rebooted GB headquarters would be? If the set pics are correct (http://boston.eater.com/2015/7/6/8901155/kaze-shabu-shabu-temporary-closed-ghostbusters-boston), then it's a smaller building than the original headquarters, so it might be doable. But, just a shrunken façade seems more likely. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Bad news about reboot sets: they might not be Lego. Mattel and Sony made a deal where Mattel is the master toy licensor. Mattel owns Mega Bloks, so if we get building sets based on the reboot.... they would be Mega Bloks. Then again, I could be wrong on all this. But it seems to be the case. Quote

Or it could be like Character Building and Warner Bros... WB gave them exclusive rights to make Scooby Doo building sets years back. Now TLC has those rights. Same with TMNT, Spongebob, and Spiderman. They all three have been passed around between Lego form and Megabloks form. Quote

jonwil Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 We may or may not get sets based on the new film but at the very least we ARE getting an awesome set of the classic firehouse (a set which has already risen to be "equal best licensed set of all time" on my personal list next to the Ecto) Quote

Considering that it's part of the same Ghostbusters brand under the original Ghostbusters films, would we really be getting an original Ghostbusters HQ set if rights to anything Ghostbusters-related like the reboot conflicted with Mattel?
