Bricky Dee Williams Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Are we even sure the video is coming? I'm not really thinking so. We're so close, there's been an official release. I'd say we may not be. Pictures will suffice though, and like I said before, we may get reviews before we get an official video at this rate! Quote
Bricky Dee Williams Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I'd take a review, too :-P I mean, hey! We've already got a few in hand sellers out there. Quote
kelceycoe Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Exactly. Someone has gotta break and review this. Quote
BritishBrickFan Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 does there have to be a designer video? why not just wait for another 4-5 weeks and buy the set for yourselves? that's my plan :) Quote

Maybe Lego has just decided that it's better to share the designer video around the time of release, instead of months ahead of time. But that's hardly a reason to presume that designer videos as we know them are a thing of the past. Edited November 27, 2015 by Lyichir Quote

Lyichir Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) months? It's only over 1 month away so yes there not much time. I said "months" because people have been whining about the lack of a designer video since the set was revealed about a month ago. And a month is still plenty of time for them to release a video, especially if they want to share it closer to the set release. Considering we know that new designer videos were just filmed this month, I don't see why people are even raising the possibility that there won't be one. It's as irritating as having a kid on a long car trip whining that they'll never reach their destination just because the trip is taking longer than expected. No one has been whining, it's just unusual for Lego to have given both press releases without a designer video, and now at least some of this Ghostbusters set have been released into the wild. With such a short time, and with this being all that's missing, it's odd we as an entirety haven't yet received a video. Quote

Because I don't remember seeing any of these shared that were obtained through any sort of legitimate means, and I've been following this topic fairly regularly. We were told that new designer videos would be filmed in November. We don't know when in November they were set to be filmed, and even after that they would still need to be cut and edited before publication. As such, while the lack of designer videos to this point may defy precedent, it's also perfectly consistent with what the designer has explicitly told us. So I don't see why people would assume that we weren't going to get one at all unless they thought Marcos was lying through his teeth. Quote

Okay, there was a non accusing way to say that, but I suppose that's not important. I didn't say they were stolen. just2good has said that factories sell them to locals, who resell them. Er, factory workers. Either way, legit or no, they're out there. The video isn't. No need to get defensive. Stay positive Unikitty. Hope we get a video soon Ah, there we go. PastVPresent Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Anyone think that parts of this will lift off ("modular style") in addition to hinging open? Based on some of the visible plates I hope it does. Simpsons house already showed both could be done... Quote

Based on some of the visible plates I hope it does. Simpsons house already showed both could be done... Not sure. That would be a bit difficult, giving the opening walls. Maybe the floors rest with ing the walls? I don't really think it will, this is a bit more complex than the Sinpsons' House, given things such as the fire pole. It was accomplished in the Fire Brigade, but I really don't feel it will be a modular building. Quote
BritishBrickFan Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 So I don't see why people would assume that we weren't going to get one at all unless they thought Marcos was lying through his teeth. I'm not suggesting anyone is lying, my question was quite simple - why do people think that videos are "required" at all? a lot of people have been recently asking in the Marvel thread for specific information related to sets which are confidential, everyone with access to that information has said that those sets are to be kept under wraps (presumably part of the NDA/licence agreement with Marvel is to avoid movie spoilers coming too soon?) yet the questions continue.... people can, and sometimes do (I've seen it happen to colleagues) lose their jobs over breaching confidentiality agreements, because they can lead to companies losing massive contracts and/or legal action as a result! so.... sometimes Lego need to keep the lid on certain things, purely to avoid breaking legally binding contracts signed with movie companies etc! how does this play into the videos? well, if they reveal something too soon, like they "accidentally" did with the Helicarrier being spotted in another video intro, then this may affect the sales for current Lego sets, if people know that there's no point buying stuff now, wait three months and buy them then when the new sets go on sale (presumably older sets will be reduced just before the new sets go to market) so Lego may lose out on sales revenue Lego have only been doing the designer videos for a few years, and there isn't one for every set - what happened to people having a little patience and waiting till the sets are released for sale, so you have a few surprises when you open the box and build them? or do we just have no patience any more? :( Quote
Sven F Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Nope, patience is an alien term in the world of gaming, tech and everything geek. There's a glitch in our brain. I really think these types of communities should employ some meditation classes since lack of patience is hardly the worst symptom that works against our wellbeing. KlodsBrik Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) I'm surprised nobody who reviews sets bought one of the smuggled sets that was on eBay.. At least it looks like they were smart enough not to pay those rediciolous prices and support theft ! Edit: And i wasnt talking about EB Reviewers by the way, i sort of know how it works here and know that early reviews would never have come from such sources.
