droid747 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Well hopefully we see some pictures of this soon. I already know I am getting this but I can't wait to see what it will loom like. Quote
6ix Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) It would be just like Treebeard in the tower of Orthanc. Oh, I didn't know that. Never really looked into this set. But now I watched Jangbricks' review of it. And you know what? I think Lego should send *him* a Ghostbusters HQ set (if the rumor is true) for reviewing. He really deserves it! :-) Edit: Oh crap, just noticed your screen name. Are you him? Edited September 22, 2015 by 6ix Quote
Jbricks Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Edit: Oh crap, just noticed your screen name. Are you him? No, I'm not Jangbricks Quote
6ix Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 No, I'm not Jangbricks Heh, cheers! Would be strange, quoting you, talking about Jangbricks and it turns at you would be him ;-) Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 No, Jang's an insider, but his only community interaction I've seen are two Brickset article comments. The Stay-Puft Man would be cool, but for the location itself, doesn't make sense, and it would end up being too small. Perhaps Ivo Shandor's apartment building will be next, with Gozer, possessed Dana and Louis, the Terror Dogs, and the MM. It's unlikely, though. Quote
droid747 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I see that that the lego dimensions slimer pack is listed as release date of march 2016 and marshmallow man pack of may 2016 on some websites. Maybe they will have those mini figs in the headquarters set. It makes sense that those release dates are later if they are going to include those in the headquarters set that way people would have to buy the big set to get them at first. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 No. I completely disagree. I have seen both Ghosbusters movies years ago and the Ecto-1 is very recognizable, iconic, etc. I am admittedly not a very big fan of Simpsons but I have seen several episodes at least and if not for the LEGO set I wouldn't even know that the car was pink. Seriously? Even Hit & Run shows it as a pink car. It has also been shown in several episodes. Quote
ultron32 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Seriously? Even Hit & Run shows it as a pink car. It has also been shown in several episodes. It's just not iconic. It's just a car. The Ghostbusters car is talked about and made very noticeable by the design. I don't know how you could see a plain car as being as iconic as a decorated ambulance with lights and painted images. Quote

I'd say the car's almost like a part of Homer's personality. Both cars are iconic IMO. Quote
droid747 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Well you could say the station wagon is just as iconic as Homers car. Truth is their cars are just not that iconic compared to a lot of other stuff in the Simpsons where as the ghostbusters car is more iconic to the movies. Quote
just2good Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Quote
jaesroe Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) As Huw from Brickset anticipated, http://brickset.com/...january-release Would the official set or image be revealed during the Fan weekend in Denmark this week? or Brickcon in Seattle next week?, if the official image is going to be unveiled at Denmark Fan weekend , it is going to be very soooon.... can't wait!!! We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Wow...then 4600 pieces of lego bricks will be totally used for HQ building ? (may be a few bricks counts and accessories for mini figures I assume) then we could raise the expectation of the attention to detail of this set higher!!! Yay!!! badbob001 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Ecto-2 confirmed then! Quote
droid747 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. So ecto-1a then or no vehicles. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Oh just watch the sold out signs quickly appearing on shop at home for 21108 Ecto-1 Quote
ultron32 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I wouldn't bother. I just wouldn't... http://tinyurl.com/pphzbtc It's not just a car, it's Homer's car. I'd say the car's almost like a part of Homer's personality. Both cars are iconic IMO. Vehicles are usually iconic if either a) there is something inherintly unique about them, like a paintjob (see Ecto-1, Fozzie's Studebaker, or the Mystery Machine), a custom design or exclusive physical feature (see most Bat-vehicles or Star Wars vehicles as well as things like the Thundertank) or if it is integral to the plot in some way and/or many recognizable scenes take place in it (see the Delorean time machine, the Rustbucket from Ben 10, KITT from Knight Rider). Simpsons is a show about people who use vehicles to get from one place to another. Almost all of the ones I just mentioned serve some other purpose. We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Neat. Quote
Emmi Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I look at the LEGO Creator Expert Opera House and think ... man, this doesn't even have 3000 pieces and is massive in scale and as detailed as it can be, it's gorgous - now I think of over 4600 pieces the Ghostbusters HQ Firehouse will have - damn, this must be the most detailed, biggest, best and most amazing building/set LEGO has ever done. I'm so so excited! Quote
Robianco Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 http://tinyurl.com/pphzbtc I wasn't expecting that and actually laughed and had tea coming out of my nose when it appeared! Quote

Captain Nemo Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 In The City of New York VS Homer Simpson, it was the entire reason for the episode's narrative and also Homer's means of escape. Being the focal point of one episode (out of 574) doesn't mean it's iconic... --- Regardless, debating the iconic status of the Simpsons family sedan vs. Echo-whatever doesn't belong in this thread. Let's steer the conversation towards strictly Ghostbusters shall we? Quote
Actor Builder Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 (edited) Are we sure that piece count is right? It seems very high. I wonder if they are using a very small piece for a lot of the set, like 2x2 Dark Red plates for all of the bricks. That could be cool. I'm not a huge fan of Ghostbusters, I got the Ecto-1 because I like IDEAS sets. I don't think I'll be getting this set. It's just too much for me personally. If I was a fan, I'm sure it would be a must-buy. I hope it looks cool though. EDIT: Took out the discussion of the Simpson's car, per Captain Nemo's request. Sorry Nemo! How about this, if they made an Ultimate Edition version of the ECTO-1 and Homer's car, which would you think would be a more popular buy? Assume no minifigures are included with the set and it is larger than minifigure-scale. Quote

Assume no minifigures are included with the set and it is larger than minifigure-scale. I think it would be pretty close between them both because they are both hugely popular media franchises. A hard one to call. Could be Simpsons because it's a very popular cartoon sitcom, then again it is impossible not to love Ghostbusters... Quote
