BlueberryWaffles Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 No Ecto-1? Assuming that also leaves out an Ecto-1a. Well, if it's not in it I expect there is room to park it for a 4600 piece firehouse... Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 How about this, if they made an Ultimate Edition version of the ECTO-1 and Homer's car, which would you think would be a more popular buy? Assume no minifigures are included with the set and it is larger than minifigure-scale. I think it would be pretty close between them both because they are both hugely popular media franchises. A hard one to call. Could be Simpsons because it's a very popular cartoon sitcom, then again it is impossible not to love Ghostbusters... Captain Nemo posted just a couple up from you guys to quit it with the car discussion. So quit it. As said above, not relevant to this set. I appreciate the desire to get the discussion on track, but please use the Report button if you think something is out of place so that you don't come close to mini-modding. Quote
kelceycoe Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 I was watching the first Ghostbusters movie last night and it dawned on me... Why exactly do we never see the Ghostbusters walk across room to room? Well... brace yourselves. I read alittle to behind the scenes thinking it's because a lot of the rooms were sets... and the answer actually will help us gauge what can and cannot fit in the Firehouse: The outside shots were of a firehouse in New York. The inside shots were all done in another firehouse but in LA. So what does that mean to us? Tell me what rooms are in the Ghostbusters firehouse. You really cannot without describing the room layout in the LA firehouse. Because we don't really see any rooms in the New York firehouse. So I expect TLC to take advantage of this liberty and just add rooms where people are not expecting them to be, like the Simpsons house from what I read in the initial reviews. We know there's gotta be a place for the trap. Wouldn't make sense otherwise. But that was in the basement - I don't recall anything else being in the basement and a few of the layouts I have seen there wasn't suppose to be. I never have known for TLC to make multi-level sets (unless they're using the baseplates from the '90s that were used for dungeons and prisons) and I don't see them making a small basement just for this room. So I expect, if they even include it, it will be somewhere else throughout the Firehouse. Otherwise, if they chose to make a basement, if they wanted to go "off the mark" like they did with almost every Scooby set, they could add an "earthquake" road where the road can bend out of shape. I know that happened at the apartment building but I'm just saying since TLC is starting to mix iconic moments into sets (Scooby Doo is a great example). Quote
Fuppylodders Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) So, with no Ecto 1, and 4600 pieces, probably 3 fully furnished floors rather than the usual 2...? And probably a hell lot of the 1x2 textured bricks. And large enough to fit Ecto 1 inside it on the ground floor. That would have to be a must... or a missed opportunity... x105Black Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 We're not getting an Ecto-1 in here. Thanks for the confirmation! This is going to be one huge set! Quote
legonerd54321 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 It'd be nice if they keep the Ecto-1 in production so they can make a bundle with maybe an exclusive Minifigure Quote
Robianco Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The last thing we need is exclusive figures when bundling two retail sets together... Especially when one set is over a year old. Quote
ultron32 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Yep....you'd find a lot of copies of the Ecto-1 for sale online. Quote
jaesroe Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Perhaps, we may have to wait the unveil of GB HQ until next week's Brickcon in Seattle then?.....or much later?? Quote

Not sure if it's been discussed in this thread but I'm guessing either Brickcon or New York Comic Con. No later than that, probably? Quote

No later than that, probably? It has been but it doesn't hurt to give us a heads up. Good to keep being reminded, this will be big news! Quote

I do hope so. I personally expect to hear some news or leaks during this weekend, however, it seems that some people also anticipate of unveiling the set during New York comic, con, which will be next week....... Either way,,,Do hope to hear the news asap~ Quote
Cwetqo Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I know it sounds strange, but I just got information that release date will be july 1st, 2016 I checked when the movie is due and it says july 15th, so I guess it makes sense. Quote
antp Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I look at the LEGO Creator Expert Opera House and think ... man, this doesn't even have 3000 pieces and is massive in scale and as detailed as it can be, it's gorgous - now I think of over 4600 pieces the Ghostbusters HQ Firehouse will have - damn, this must be the most detailed, biggest, best and most amazing building/set LEGO has ever done. I'm so so excited! That set had rather big parts in average, hence the big size. I suppose that here there wil be a lot of small parts. Quote
Kez Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 That doesn't sound strange at all Cwetqo; from a business point of view from Lego's side I can see exactly why that may be (due to the hype created from the new film), but it will certainly be a let down to say that us AFOLs will have to wait an additional halve a year to get the set. (Ah well, if it's that good I can certainly wait). Quote
scottwb2010 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I know it sounds strange, but I just got information that release date will be july 1st, 2016 I checked when the movie is due and it says july 15th, so I guess it makes sense. Was looking forward to this being released in January even tho there has been no pictures of it, but a July release makes sense to coincide with the Films release. Probably means it'll be a while before photo's of the set are released! Quote
HawkLord Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Thrilled that this won't be a January release. Right after the holidays and what's probably going to be the biggest movie of all time (Star Wars TFA), means funds would be super limited. July is a nice time for me to plan. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I know it sounds strange, but I just got information that release date will be july 1st, 2016 I checked when the movie is due and it says july 15th, so I guess it makes sense. Hmm...maybe this could mean the film next year is secretly a sequel and the reboot thing is a load of nonsense? Quote
jaesroe Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Well...for me...it is a bit disappointed news if it really comes out in July, not in January. Since it would be based on the original Ghostbusters movie, according to Just2Good, what is the point of releasing this GBHQ set in July when new GB3 release? Also, if it is going to be released in July next year, would it be based on NEW GB3's HQ design, not the original one?? Next July......what a loooooong wait... Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I bet this set is classic, and just a loose tie-in to the new film. Perhaps it'll remind people why Ghostbusters shouldn't be needlessly rebooted! It's like Harley and Deadshot being in a set next year with their comic-book Squad designs to tie into the movie next year. Quote
MAB Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 It doesn't even make sense as a display piece, though. As I say above, the interior won't be viewable when you put it in a display cabinet. Essentially, you're paying for at least 1000 bricks you won't even see. It does if it is shown open in a shop window. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 It does if it is shown open in a shop window. I could see shops buying the sets in and using a couple (one without roof, one with) to display in a shop window, certainly. Quote
Sven F Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) I need something in January to get over the horrid winter, in July i have other hobbies that usually involve a sunny beach with disposable funds redirected accordingly Maybe the modular release is back to January then.
