These Phantoka are quite possibly the best canister villains Lego has ever done. They don't need silly grimaces like the Piraka...they are horrible, creepy beasts. They aren't aquatic monsters, mechanical bugs, creaures that smile all the time, warrior lizards with staffs...these are downright DEMONIC. And incredibly cool.

On the Toa Nuva....what's up with all that dark bley? :-X I can understand Pohatu (gunmetal would've been better), but Lewa and Kopaka? Modding time, I'm afraid. For the rest their design seem pretty good.

Toa Ignika's cool flying board makes up for his sub par design.

The small sets look very nice. I like their design and how they're able to attach to the can sets.

But the biggest disappointement is that Ikky was right....they changed the hip joints! This is worse than bley! Those were just colours, these are new molds.

Ugh..... :-X :-X :-X

Whoops :-P

Wait wait wait...where do you see BLACK and ORANGE double sockets? I just see Visorak double joints here, with the exception of Pohatu.

I *think* Toa Ignika has orange double-thingies, while Vamprah has black ones. Or so it looks. *wacko*

On a side note, I really, really love the Matoran's masks, as well as the Ignika! Great ones!

I think Toa Ignika has regular yellow orange. Vamprah does seem to have black ones.

*Takes another look at the dwarves minifigs*

It's hard to see on Toa Ignika, but I'm hoping for orange, we need more of that! Some nice Halloween pieces that'd give!

And has yellorange really been here long enough for you to call it 'regular'? :-D

I doubt that very much. Why would they make complex CGI pictures of prototypes, and why would they make a new mold in the first place? I'll bet a lot these are final.

-Ikk

True...

One reason that they changed it could be that they break a lot now, and these are a whole lot more sturdy?

The joints are the exact same, they just removed those weird hole things in the middle that did absoulutley nothing.

Absolutely nothing my rear end. Accidentally get an axle stuck in a configuration where you couldn't pull it out, and it seemed stuck? Stick a knife in the holes on the front of the socket and push the axle out. Those holes were life savers more times than I could count when I began MOCing.

That said, I don't see the change as anything to fret over. As long as you do it right, inconsistencies can be your friend. Layer them, so the old ones are inside where they can't be seen, and the new ones are outside. Do it by color, so all white ones are old, all black ones are new. Etc.

It's not that hard.

DV does win. X-D

One thing I hoped to do with the double-joints was recoloring the Metru and/or rebuilding the Hagah. For that purpose, the new ones will look out of place when displayed alongside Toa with older double-joints, unless LEGO starts making the new ones in all sorta colors.

Oh well. I still love the Matoran. *wub*

I love 2008! The smaller sets are the best since the Turaga themselves. THEY HAVE ARTICULATION! It seems there are three Matoran and three mini Phantoka (Phantoka Va, lol).

The Toa Nuva v.2.0 are great. I could use a different mask for Kopaka Nuva v.2.0. It's a bit too much like Whenua Metru's.

The Phantoka are great. I like Vamprah. He reminds me a bit of that monster Obi-Wan fights in Episode II.

Looks like we have wings, jet-packs, jet wings, and propellers! I love the little tiny wings on the Phantoka Va.

GO 2008!

BTW, I've got individual pics of each dude on my Brickself.

I give my utmost thanks to you for the folder description. *wacko*

LOL, you can't say I didn't try. X-D If I could make it in a 100 point font, flash bright red and green, followed by a couple of explination marks, I would. Even then, the mojority of the BZP members would try and see how many people they could show the pics to before being stopped by a mod, lol.

This post. Bionicle&Exo-Force. Above them there're Indiana, Castle, etc.

Hmm... the posts are dated 5/10/2007... but surely these images haven't been online that long.

Buh?

Anyway, calling these the Nuva is just icky.

Another case of a pre-existing franchise having it's main character's names tossed around onto any old body.

Funny that the best Lewa mask ever was his first one in 2001.

Meh... I'll be passin' on these 2008 guys.

The new shooters are lightyears ahead of the lame-o Zamor launcher design... I'll grab a few of those off Brickshelf.

::goes to sleep until 2009::

Europe, Jinzo. October 5th.

Not May 10th.

Why does everybody like these Phantoka again? All I'm seeing is this crappy little action feature that's going to leave them with a big hollow thing in the middle when used.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

All of you guys are so bitter. "2001-2003 was the best years of Bionicle EVAR!" Grow up. The focus group of Bionicle has changed, and so Bionicle must as well. Personally, I think it's interesting how they can come up with so many different types of ammunition from 2004-2008, but I'm not saying I like it. You need to take the good with the bad, though I guess in your case it would just be the bad. Never launch the pod if you hate them so much, or make a "better" modification which I'm sure you and Darth Vader will try. Hell, you'll most likely succeed, but you're not working at Lego and calling the shots, and even if you were, there's no way they'd allow as many pieces as DV uses in a ten dollar set.
