Makuta'sdarkslave Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Yeah. I want to apologfor all my "cussing like a sailor". Its true, I was having a bda day and thought it make my post seem like I was pissed... which I was. Anyways, the disc drive is all messed up (after we finally figured out how to work the thing with screwing up the internet), so I don't know what to do. It makes me kinda sad how nothing is going my way lately. Yes, but it's weird because apparently the sets were not re-called anywhere else except from the store that had them (I have contacts outside my state, just in case they spot early sets), so I don't know what's going on there. Weird. Quote

Holy Diver Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Thanks for the explaination Grevious, I do appreciate the exclusive info they get, just not the rules that follow. Anyway, I think I am going to order the Mistika tomorrow morning if I can afford them all. If not I will just get Takanuva and Onua. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 This site is an 18 and over site, so there's going to be cursing. Yes, new members, ones possibly not being honest about their age are going to look dumb. I think the best policy is to decide how long they feel dumb. The answer is of course "as short as possible" lol. If I had more time to be around here always, I could simply edit their post and drop a "cool it" kind of comment. ... ... ...what the hell was I getting at again? Oh yeah, lol. Whenever someone's cursing gets a bit too ff the wall, just either let it be or see if someone's already addressed it. There doesn't need to be multiple posts speaking of the same thing. Likewise, sorry if I'm the person you think is cursing too much. I've always been this way. Pencoin Posted Today, 03:55 PM so leaked pictures > a sentence from LEGO default_thumbup.gif what its true... no? default_tong.gif default_blink.gif I recall a toy fair where we had pics, while BZ wasn't allowed to post the images (!) and the only "exclusive" thing Lego gave them for their trouble was... a pile of promotional "SO EXCITING!" text (!!) ... ...for a day or two (!!!). But there are occasions where they get first dibs on things other than pics. Of course, personally, it's ALL about the parts, so set pics and Eurobricks is where I want to be. Just remember, even though "BZ sucks!' pertains to a lot of areas, it has done well for them. You might have as much freedom there as trying to play Dance Dance Revolution inside a cardboard box that a washing machine came in, but you can't deny the sheer amount of feedback due to the sheer amount of members... and that didn't happen by accident or by merely being the first site to dedicate itself to a specific Lego theme. I'm not a great fan of BZ, clearly. But I used to be, before I got whizzed on and realized there was better. It's just like cursing... do it too much and you look foolish. Or rather, simply saying "BZ sucks" and leaving it at that isn't telling anybody new to the deal why you're saying that, it just looks awkward and biased in a non-substantive way. Man, i just ramble on sometimes... Uh, synopsis: --curse, but in moderation --say others are cursing too much only if no one else said it already (if you even have to bother) --BZ has it's purposes in the Lego world --BZ has it's problems, but be able to say why Quote
Holy Diver Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Yeah, it says, "server not found". Maybe it crashed? Quote
S-N Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I guess, when was it the last time it crashed, a couple weeks ago? Quote
The Dor Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Yeah, BZ's not loadin for me either. Well, I went against better judgement and bought Gorast and Gali just now... and they are worth it. Gali is a very good Toa set... not entirely a great Gali, but still a good set. Seeing as in the Bionicle world, the girls seem to be the burliest, Gali would look very "feminine." The blaster-only works well with Gali, seeing as the Ghost Blasters are great weapons. I think that it's mostly because you can still fire them while the set is holding one, and the fact they are just as light as most close combat weapons. The neck is a problem, but not so much articulation wise. The shortened eye peice really helps with it. The only reason I fixed it was because I like the longer neck, and the fact it looks more consistant with the blue hips if the neck peice is right next to it. Gali's main flaw... hm... that's a tough one... probably the neck thing... and that's really it. She's a great set. :) Gorast is probably my current favorite set to date... She looks terriffic. The backwards torso doesn't really bother me... it might bother some people, but I'm fine with it. The articulation was a big fear for me, but it turns out it's great. If she had longer arms, the second set really would have gotten in the way a LOT. As it is, her lower set of arms works great as manipulators and weapons, and her upper set is great as wings. Her neck is suprisingly good at showing emotion. She looks much more sinister with her head up, as well as feminine, not sure about that, and much more brutal and angry with her head down. Gorast's only flaw, is that her second set of arms are supposed to have the claws turned in toward the body, as apposed to straight out from the hand joint. This, as it would seem, is incredibly easy to fix. If you are going to get one Mistika, make it Gorast. Also, something I should point out: The new sets use a new plastic, that is much tougher and harder to break. I've so far disconnected every joint on gali twice now, and no breakage has occured. It is no doubt still possible, but much more difficult, and has not affected joint strength in the slightest. Hooray! Quote
Holy Diver Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 I hope you like them Dor. I want to get them to play out the pic back on page 162 . Quote
Zarkan Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Yeah guys, BZP crashed. On another note, I did go to the Bionicle event at the Wilimantic CT library today! It was really a lot of fun for a Bionicle obsessed teen like me – and I even got some cool stuff out of it! Here’s a basic rundown of what happened there: - Before the event started, Greg F. was chatting with us about various things. Nothing special, but it was pretty funny when he told us about his experiences at Comic Con in Chicago. - When the event began, Greg gave us a piece of exclusive info and an update on the new Bionicle Movie! I’ll get back to that in a minute. - After that Greg answered a lot of our questions. Now I finally know why Jaller has two swords in Bionicle Legends 7 and only one in the actual kit! (more on that in a minute as well) - Then came the best part – the trivia contest! I actually won second place (and got one of the new Bionicle graphic novels), although I wish I had won first (the prize was a piece of original black and white artwork for one of the early bionicle comics). Oh well – even though the kid who won first place was probably only half my age, he seemed to know the storyline a lot better than the rest of the younger kids there. If only I had gotten the official guide to Metru Nui in 2004 – then I would have been able to answer question 4 right! (It was about Knowledge towers, for those who are wondering) - Finally, Greg signed autographs for us. I was very thrilled. Now then – how about some exclusive info? - Some of the Federation of Fear members will return in the OOMN/Brotherhood war! (I’m thinking Brutaka) - The Haga serial will involve Toa Haga searching for Teridax’s current location! - The new Bionicle movie’s animation style will be similar to the style used in major motion picture characters like Lord of the Rings’ very own Gollum! (I mean the movement, not the actual design of the characters) - And now the big one: In the November edition of the Brickmaster magazine, there will be an exclusive four page poster of the Great Spirit Mata Nui! Finally, here’s some pictures of the event (please excuse the quality - something went wrong when my dad took the pictures): http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bk504/Bioni...nt/100_1220.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bk504/Bioni...nt/100_1223.jpg http://www.majhost.com/gallery/bk504/Bioni...nt/100_1224.jpg Well, that's all I guess. Yeah, I was really hesitant about her, but she looks SOO much better in hand than in the ToyFair pics. @Grevious: Uh... yeah... you never said why Jaller only has one sword... so yeah... what about that...? Zarkan Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) @Grevious: Uh... yeah... you never said why Jaller only has one sword... so yeah... what about that...? Whoops, forgot about that. Er, well it's mainly because when greg wrote some of the book, he was working from prototype images, and aparrently one of the prototype Jallers may have had two swords for some reason. This also happened with a 2007 set - the Aqua Blaster Blade was featured as one of Nuparu Mahri's weapons in the storyline, despite it being cut from the final version of the set. Edited July 10, 2008 by Grevious Quote
Spirit of the Air Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Jaller Mahri with two swords would have been sweet. Quote
hewkii9 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 That Gollum bit is interesting-so it'll be actors doing the movements, but their bodies'll be replaced by CGI? Or does it go further, and the Bionicles'll be transposed onto real sets? Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Yeah, I bought 2 Jallers a few weeks ago, and even though I didn't make the intended model, I noticed mocs look VERY good with 2 of those swords. It's not impressive on it's own, but for some reason two are. Must be that rounded butterfly type edge they have, just one "wing" looks odd. WAIT wait waitaminnit! You had Greg before a roomful of Bionicle fans and not one of them yelled, "IT'S THE FIIINAL COOOOOOUNTDOOOOOOOOWN!" I am ashamed and saddened by this. Quote
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 A 4-page poster of Mata Nui!?! ZOMG!!! Quote
.:DB:. Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 A 4-page poster of Mata Nui!?! ZOMG!!!HOLY SHIT! cant wait to see him! Quote
Makaru Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 (edited) There are two parts to me. One is the really old, cranky Bionicle fan that wants to see the poster of Mata Nui and immediately scream Ruined Forever, regardless of it being actually cool or not. And the other half of me wants to mellow out to some really cool music. Edited July 11, 2008 by Makaru Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I want to see the land mass that is Mata Nui wake up and walk away with giant <insert that tiresome argument> parts, 9 billion parts in flat silver, SUPER cheesy launcher gimmicks, non-turning waists, canisters and lids with no aaxle or pin connection points and asymmetrical parts. Shoo, SHOO, you big pile of dirt! Quote
