Commander Andrew of 501 st Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) Hey guys I found 2008 pototypes.. proto? Edit: Never mind fixed it Edited August 6, 2008 by Commander Andrew of 501 st Quote
Makuta'sdarkslave Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Man, those are some wacky prototypes if I ever seen any Anyways. I've been meaning to do some reviews on the Mistika sets, but unfortunately, I started to get into MoC-ing with them, so now I have to put them together again to review... right after I finish taking pictures of my MoC and send it to my friend, he needed something new. ~Makuta'sdarkslave Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 To quote a certain SW character: "That's no moon, that's a battle station!" That doesn't look like any 2008 set I've seen - but it does look like something from 2009. Maybe...it's a 2009 proto! Quote
Shakar Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) Take a look at the gallery. You'll see that this is a Bitil prototype. On the prototypes....meh, nothing special honestly. The only thing I'm sad about are those two awesome Metru feet in lime.... *drools* Shakar Edited August 7, 2008 by Shakar Quote
Pencoin Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 This boy is the pure incarnation of evil, the reason we get crappier sets every year . As Always the prototypes are better then the finished product. Quote

Heh, I'd disagree with that. First of all, that lime green warrior is a Gorast Prototype I think, so I'm glad it's not the final version. The design looks extremely cruddy, but more importantly - it doesn't look like a girl in any way! On the other hand, the final Gorast actually looks somewhat like a muscular feminine character, which is very good. Also, the Mistika prototypes are almost exactly the same as the final versions, aside from the wonky colors. I see NO difference between the Tahu prototype and the final version, design wise. Quote
Pencoin Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Yeah i was talking more makuta - wise I think that krika was supposed to be the girl though originally so thats kinda what i meant. Quote

Well, there's many rounds of prototypes, that was just probably the final round of the Tahu prototype. Edited August 9, 2008 by S-N Quote
Ecto Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Guys... Greg has confirmed no TOA Nuva will die this year. There is a possibility that our beloved heroes will turn into turaga and die... just throwing that out there. Quote
VBBN Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 I will not take part of 09 just for that. Kill the turaga, kill the mahri, kill anyone, but save the friggin nuva. Except Takanuva. Killing our favorite characters isn't the way to go. And let me say, those prototypes are amazing! I which those were the finals(only the bad guys). They use NO inika torsos. Quote
Wrinkledlion X Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Uh, they only show the prototypes for the Makuta that already had no Inika torsos. Chances are the proto-Gorast still had an Inika torso. And really, is a one-piece Matoran torso really that much better? Quote

The Dor Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Woohoo got Takanuva woohoo. He is very awesome. And very very huge. Currently my largest figure. Anyways, critique time: Takanuva: Okay, first, his box. It is ENORMOUS. Bigger than Maxilos and Spinax's box by a good margin. Not wider, but definitely deeper and taller. The image is almost life-sized, which caught me offguard. The only thing that isn't is the obviously photoshop'd mask. So onto the contents: Takanuva brings the return of numbered bags. Which is very nice. Building is much easier with the numbered bags. Speaking of which, his build is amazing (for a bionicle set that is). One major problem: the legs. They are symmetrical. Whcih means, you get to build one, and then they just slap a x2 at the end. Very irritating. Other than that, it's a very intricate build that I enjoyed quite a bit. Now, his actual figure: Takanuva as a figure is very impressive to look at. He has more realistic proportions, which I know many of you guys like. However, as an articulated figure, he has a few problems. The first is his hips/thighs. They connect with the same method Icarax uses, which is kind of good, kind of bad. They are a little weaker than previous hips, but they don't creak at every motion. The problem isn't the joint, it's the armor. The Inika foot really gets in the way of the Pohatu arms. The only solution is to tweak it in a certain way, and that locks the legs up a little. This isn't a huge problem, but it is a considerable one. THe second real flaw is the shoulders. They are much sturdier than any previous shoulder, and they need it. However, this support really limits how high he can raise his arms. He can only reach about 110 degrees. I find it annoying, but some people might not. As a final point, his armor is amazing. His mask is very similar, only larger (a lot larger), and with a few stylistic differences. The Takadox heads work very well, although are very creepy from many angles. The new Mistika sheild is very good torso armor, and really holds everything together. Well, there's Takanuva. I would recommend him, but only if you don't mind the articulation problems. Quote

Can Calyx Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I'm very pleased with the 2009 sets. If only their basic builds weren't still the exact same pieces as the last two years. Perhaps I'll get Maium, though, and the small green one. Interesting masks/ pieces. And the White canister set- nice nice nice armor. Best white set since Thok. Quote
