Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 A spirit evolved past the need of a mortal body... a living, breathing cloud of enrgy... driven by sheer will and evil that never dies... ... yeah, a big green blob. :-P -Ikk Quote
Trexxen Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Just curious, although I know the general opinion of the Phantoka, as always with every single new shipment of Bionicle, is "bleh", what one $10 Phantoka is (in your opinion) the best? I'm asking, of course, because I have $30 to blow and I know I'm getting Ignika. I'm thinking I'll get either Kopaka, Lewa, or Antroz (6 inch wings yum)... But I want some opinions on this ^.^ ~Trexxen (Merry Christmas!) Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Kopaka, Lewa, or Chirox. If you must. :-P I'd rather wait 'til all sets have been seen, though... gives you something more to choose from. -Ikk Quote
Kynok Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) Chirox is bleh, Kopaka is bleh-er. Antroz's wings arn't as cool as they seem. Go with Lewa. *y* If you want wings, though, Vamprah comes with two pairs. :-) Don't get Pohatu. ;-) Edited December 26, 2007 by Kynok Quote
Clonie Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Having badly injured my foot on the new trampoline (lol) has given me time to think. I'm a moron. Wow. Okay, I should really lighten up about this Bionicle stuff. It doesn't matter that much. New years resolution and all that: Stop being a <blank>. Okay then, onto most recent discussion. On Icarax: Review. I think he's alright, I mean the gear arm isn't spectacular. The Kraahkan looks weird with a two plus rod as eyes on a Metru head. I tried it. Kinda weird. They could have made the eye piece orange. On the Phantoka: I'd say get Lewa, Trexxen. Despite all his flaws something compells me to buy him. And then play with him. A lot. Vamprah looks to be the best of the Makuta so far, if you'd rather get one of them. Well I should get the Matoran by next week. Yay for post-Christmas sales... Quote

His arms don't hang past his knees, he has a chest shooter (you're already getting a Midak thing), and interesting gun-like blades. Quote
Trexxen Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Well, I read the points everyone here made, and decided I'd get Antroz. I'm already getting a Midak, so I opted for a Makuta...as for why Antroz, 1. I have a Black and Red MOC in the works and the wings would make some awesome scythe blades, among other things, and 2. I like his color scheme. =P I could have gotten a phantoran, but I decided not to - and I may only buy them once they're on sale, and even then only for the masks. 5.99 for 14/16 pieces? Haha no. ~Trexxen Quote
Clonie Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 If you get a Matoran, get Radiak, 'cause 1) he goes with Antroz and 2) he has two more pieces than the rest. XD Quote
Zarkan Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 First off, this isn't a gimmick. It's much more a function than a gimmick. The entire body works around this idea... and is that not the same idea that the Toa Mata, Bohrok, Nuva, and Rahkshi had in common? The Piraka, Barraki, Inika... they all had gimmicks. The Phantoka Makuta are no different from the specific Toa Mata bodies, and trust me, those bodies, just like those of the Phantoka, are NOT useless parts. Hm, I guess this is as good as a time as any to pull out the old websters dictionary! :-) *searches for gimmick in dictionary* GIM-MICK (gim'ik), n. 1. An ingenious or novel device or stratagem, especially one used to draw attention or increase appeal. Well, looking at this, I'd have to disagree. While I particulary hate the tridax pods, I can say with certainty that they are novel, and of couse they are used to draw attention of the 8-10 year olds who love Bionicle. They seem to fit the definition of gimmick pretty well, IMO. :-/ Quote

I got Antroz and his Matoran today. I've got to say, even when empty, the torsos look pretty good. Antroz looks fantastic, I've got no complaints... and his Matoran is a cute little add-on and a fair figure on its own, as well. Quote
Clonie Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Apparently, the're actually called Tridak pods. *wacko* EDIT: Oh wait, some of the bios say Tridax. Okay, I'll just ask Greg. T_T Edited December 27, 2007 by Clonie Quote
Tyranide Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Oh wait, some of the bios say Tridax. Okay, I'll just ask Greg. T_T As I recall, Greg has already said that "Trydax" is right. And, well, kinda good news (new information, unofficial, can't say where I got it, blah-blah-blah) 8688 Gali Nuva 8689 Tahu Nuva 8690 Onua Nuva 8694 Krika 8695 Gorast 8696 Bitil 8698 <unknown> 8699 <unknown> 8941 <unknown> 8942 <unknown> 8943 <unknown> 8954 Mazeka New names ARE STUPID. Really. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Krika, Gorast, Bitil... that'll be the summer Makuta, but what the HELL happened to their names? Well, at least they're new... but really, 'Makuta Bitil'? The rest are probably the three remaining titans and the three super-titans. We already know Takanuva is in one of these groups, and as for Mazeka, I've no idea. But thanks for the list, more weirdos to look forward to. :-P EDIT: Oh, an' it's Tridax. ;-) -Ikk Edited December 27, 2007 by Ikki o' Moopyville Quote
Tyranide Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Well, as there's five sets without names, hope that Mazeka is a titan. Maybe even guy from Order of Mata Nui... Don't know anything 'bout these sets for now. And, well, funny thing. In one of old USSR cartoons was a chharacter named "Gromozeka" Is it a coincidence? Like with Lariska and Lesovikk, whose names also were based on Russian words? Quote

Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 I cant wait until BZPers start googling "Krika" to figure out the name origin :P Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 We feel that, by adding names based on words taken from today's urban societies, we appeal to a broader audience extending across borders, skin color, and even linguistics. This is part of our newest marketing strategy, in which we seek to spread BIONICLE to children of all parts of society, thus strengthening our image as a multicultural company. We hope that message gets across to the parents, too, when their 9-year old kid sees the latest 'Makuta Krika' and 'Toa Niggayo' in stores. This is a message we would like to spread across the globe, to all children: Skit skit, bang bang, nigga! Play on yo, LEGO Let's see BZP's name origin topics deal with THIS. :-P -Ikk Quote
Shakar Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 You think that they're going to be allowed over BZP? We'll have to wait till Toy Fair in February to see them allowed there. But they are WEIRD. Shakar Quote

Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Hey, where'd you get that? Vultraz sounds like a vulture... -Ikk Quote
Trexxen Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) Wait, Vultraz? Where'd you get those two names? (Kills my hopes for Takanuva to be the $100 set with a great fully custom toa and awesome vehicle T.T...not that those hopes were very strong =P) So Taka's the $30 set, eh? Vehicle confirmed...again...here's hoping it's more inspired than "stick with weapons on it" (Lesovikk), and hopefully more pieces than the hoverboard =P ~Trexxen EDIT: Wait, huh? I've found another site with the set list I've confirmed, and it has Takanuva, Vultraz, and 3 others...I'm hoping these are prelim names, I really am: Rockoh T3, Jetrax T6, and Axalara T9. The "T#"s confuse me, and Rockoh? Really? Bleh...However, I'm willing to wager a little something - Axalara is the head of the OOMN. She is female, right? The name seems like one fitting for her, in that case - and it continues the OOMN member trend (Axonn, Hydraxon, Axalara...) Odd. NOTICE: Credit for this goes to Whung - he posted it on another site first, I'm just copying it here. Rockoh...eww... Edited December 27, 2007 by Trexxen Quote
Zarkan Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Okay, seriously, even I could have thought of better names than these. Gorast? Bitil? Rockoh T3?! :-| Then again, when you have to pull random names off an already made list, like Greg and the team have to do, there's no real hope for it to remain okay. |-/ On the plus side, there's lots of titans, so I'm betting that at least one of them is decent enough for me to purchase. :-) Quote
