Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Maybe it was compressed. I mean a Toa made it. Oh well, you're right. Bionicle sucks now, because they don't want to tell us everything. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 No, the problem is that Greg does whatever he feels like without giving explanations. Like Nocturn beaking his island in half for the sake of it. And you can lay off the sarcasm. ;-) -Ikk Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 What's your point again? Nocturn broke his island. Apparently there was no explanation. Outside of BL #7 that is. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 My point is that it was unnecessary, and was just something ridiculously unlikely that Greg threw in for laughs. Nocturn was in a bad mood, he hit the ground with his fist, it broke in half. I'd have to strain myself to think of something more lame. -Ikk Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Well, whatever you think. I don't think it sucks, I just think there are great points and lame points. But if all you can come up with is a feeble attempt at sarcasm, we better end this debate -- it's already waaay off topic. ;-) -Ikk Quote
Tyranide Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) Well, now, I think that's time to reveal some things! I was with Sasha634 and i saw all new sets (but I can't tell where we have been)... Well, text in that catalogue really said about Karda Nui and another good things - all these names are real. Also, I think I'll need to tell you about another sets (we are noe working on getting better pictures, maybe even scans). First... well, there are three Toa and three Makuta in the first half of year, but THAY ALL ARE CALLED Phantoka. That's written on all their boxes. Boxes, by the way, are almost similar to Toa Mahri boxes - not canisters, just boxes. Next... Midak Skyblasters are really looking like mix of Zamor and Cordak - but they have some kind of button on its top. You push the button, and the sphere is launched. I think that these spheres are bigger than zamors, but I can't compare. Next... Trydax Pod, as I recall, are these spheres, but without Midaks. They are launched from Makutas chest - this isn't shown on Chirox pic (no sphere), but launcher can be seen - it's grey piece on his chest/belly. But their spheres are red, and, as said in catalog, "contains shadow leeches" (kraata?). Also, all Makuta designs are based on bats. Well, they are shapeshifters, they can do it. About Matoran - there will be six of them, yaeh, but ALSO IN CONTAINERS. Oh, that's bad - I'm already imagining their price. Their colours: Tanma is green, Solek - white, Photok - orange, Radiak - red (he wears mask that looks like Avohkii), Gavla - blue, and Kirop - black. But what's really important is that YOU CAN COMBINE one Matoran and one big set - for example, Tanma and Lewa. Result looks very like as Lesovikk! But Matoran are UGLY. Kopaka Nuva. I will definitely get HIM. He's not Kopaka I have, but he's still looks cool. His mask looks alike Great Ruru (Toa Whenua's 2004 mask), but with jedi lightsaber attached to it - like telescopic sight. And he has WINGS (like Hahli Mahri's, but without holes). Antroz is red, Chirox is blue... what else can I say? Oh, yes, Toa Ignika. For addition to Kanohi Ignika he also has surfing board - black and COOL. It looks like it's made of Brutaka's swords, Jaller Mahri's sword and Slizer wings (things that now are used in Racer sets). And Ignika's silver, yeah. It's went dark in Ignition 10. Hope I helped you. Edited September 30, 2007 by Tyranide Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 The argument here is that Greg comes up with completely random and completely lame things such as: Nocturn breaking his island Ice sinking Islands floating Islands floating above a dome with an ACTIVE VOLCANO ETC. There are ways to explain such things, such as: Nocturn gets involved in some kind of intrigue and, in an interesting background story, invokes a ceremony for more power that goes awry and destroys his island and he is punished for seeking such power and its consequence The ice is bound to an underwater object, but if broken will float The island is based on a giant iceburg A furnace in the manner of Metru Nui's Great Furnace is here, and due to the destruction around it it has gone catastrophic. ETC. Bu~ut Greg Farshtey is too lazy to actually think deeply and come up with real explanations and reasoning for his arbitrary physics-denying stuff. Instead, he just says, "Physics are different there", which is easily the lamest excuse to guise a plot device ever. He just wants things a certain inexplicable way and comes up with lame excuses such as "he broke his island" to explain them. - Helden Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 How about "Nobody cares about details like that except people who just want to bash Bionicle." Seriously. I never cared about those things, but you do. Hehe, look at me, I'm defending Greg. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I care about having fun in a fantasy universe that makes sense and is enjoyable from all its aspects. I would be intrigued if Greg had bothered to come up with an interesting backstory for Nocturn; saying he broke his island is just irritating. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Because I have been a Bionicle fanboy since literally the day it was announced! Because I love many of the sets and Bionicle has been my toy-pasttime for the past 7 YEARS, to the exclusion of practically ALL OTHER LEGOS. I "Bash" Bionicle out of LOVE for something I see as being disgraced by a bumbling writer and a flawed production (sets before story) concept! I am still here because I am still collecting various Bionicle sets and working and reworking my own take on the Bionicle universe! I HAVE ENJOYED MY BIONICLE ADVENTURES FOR YEARS! THAT IS WHY I AM STILL HERE. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 We care for details and reasons because we aren't shallow kids who eat everything fed to us by Greg. And we are here because we enjoy SOME ASPECTS of Bionicle, just not everything. -Ikk Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Who said I enjoy everything? I like the main story. That's about it. I agree that sets before story is quite dumb. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 But including freakishly improbable stuff in story WITHOUT explanation is still shallow and cheap, no matter how good the main story is. Sad thing is, the main fanbase does consist of kids who don't care about much more than how far the sets' guns can shoot. -Ikk Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I'm sure if he realized the level of nerdism some people have with it he would have come up with more stuff. Just an observation. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) I'm certain he realizes it, given how much time he spends on BZP with folks such as bones. Thing is, he doesn't care. -Ikk Edited September 30, 2007 by Ikki o' Moopyville Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Actually, its more like if he was interested in coming up with a mythology in the footsteps of the great stuff that was layed down in MNOLG :p Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Okay then. What don't you understand? Maybe I could explain... Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 That's not it. There ARE explanations for everything, just takes a bit of creativity -- just like the examples Helden posted a few comments up! But Greg writes it off as "too deep" and "different 'cuz it is." THAT is what's wrong. -Ikk Quote
Clonie Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Why are you debating about the story if you hate it? Most of us already know. We get it. We just want to discuss the toys. Hence the title. And who says those explanations weren't already made by him? I distinctly remember an excuse for Nocturn breaking his home island in BL #7. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Not sure who you're talking to... I don't hate the story. :-| And I don't remember anything else than Nocturn being in a bad mood. :-D But as I already said, this WOULD be better in the story topic. So, no more posts from me 'ere, at least about this. -Ikk Quote
Darkness Falls Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Wow. Two pages of absolute crap. By the way, remember what I was saying about pictures of the entire catalog? They'd be nice. Quote
