JINZONINGEN73 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Oh, Crap! Gali has a million eyes! Look at her left eye! Ugh.. :-X The real shocking blow to me here among all the other problems with this figure... the mask is ASYMMETRICAL. >__< Well! I wasn't going to buy it, so I don't have to worry about mocing with that mask anyway, do I? (Man... and they didn't even give her/it a TRANS mask!) Shameful... Quote
BrotherDog Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Yeah, and pig-like nostrils and moustaches are lady-like. :-| Tell one canister set Bionicle that actually looked like a lady. -ZotS Easy, Inika Jaller. She has that heart-shaped face, and a one-piece Blingkini. Let alone red, a very feminine color. There are only 3 situatuions that guy wears red. Any one or more of the following: 1. Uniform requirement. 2. He's gay. 3. He's a pimp. ...some may bring up Santa Claus, he falls under #s 1 & 3. Red suit, lined in White fur and frequnetly mentions Ho's. Sure he lacks a pimp-cane but come on. Think about it. ;;D As far as the new ones go, only 2 of the canister sets have things I hate about them. I'd like the red-guy if it weren't red, and Krika would be perfect if it weren't for the red crap marbled into that Milky White. Krika must be trying to make it easier to find her, and hit her. They should used a more swampy color like that Metallic Olive Green they haven't used in forever. Also Vultraz set's driver is red :-X , though the vehicle and mask-shape look very sweet. As far just don't like very much is the lack of weapons for the Blue and Black guys. The only Titan I like very much, awesome complimentary contrast in the coloring. Those giant overpriced vehicles aren't titans though. Plus they look more like train engines, with rockets slapped on, plus a few fins and/or turbines. It would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better if they'd made them as rahi-steeds instead. Heck if they wanted them to be that big of sets, they could even have had a team of rahi pulling a large wagon-like command platform. Oh well. Edited February 18, 2008 by BrotherDog Quote
Nako Nuva Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Something funny I should add: When I first saw the Mistika, they were on a french site, and the tag line read something like "Les Mistika arrivent! Et ca va MAL!!!" So, it isn't just us that think the Mistika look bad. I wonder what pieces would work best in terms of replacing the garish muscly forearms on Gali? Maybe some blue parts from Hahli or Takadox? Lord knows the trans blue would have been better than SILVER. Also, anyone notice that none of these Toa has a chest plate for some bizarre reason? I just can't shake the feeling we're being gipped here. I mean, 13 for what exactly? No chests, no tools, hideous faces and more silly launchers? Let me just get this out of my system. DO WE NEED 2 DAGGUM LAUNCHER TYPES A FRAGGIN' YEAR!?? I mean, when they came out, Kanoka made it the whole year, and rhotuka made it the whole year after that. Even zamor launchers made it a full year, a year and a half if you count midak, which I don't, because there was that huge plastic thing. Don't get me wrong, the midak are fun, but the squid launchers and cordak blasters were the epic failure (and undoubtedly lowest point of the otherwise excellent Mahri), but these ghost blaster things? No. Just cut it the snot out, Lego! Give us one launcher and makes us deal with it for the year, okay? Then SIPHON THE DAGGUM SAVINGS INTO RESPECTABLE TOOLS, CUZ THIS CRAP IS JUST WRONG. Okay, glad I got that out of my system. You can all unplug your ears now. [/rant]. Oh, poor Toa Nuva, if only we had listened to those who said they'd ruin you if you came back. Truly, Lego hates you. Quote
Asuka Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Well! I wasn't going to buy it, so I don't have to worry about mocing with that mask anyway, do I? I Quote
VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 I still like the asymmetrical mask design too.... it works and adds to their character, sometimes. :-$ It basicly works well with Ice toa, and the Telescopic eyes. If high gas prices caused the sets to rise in price, why are doing it to the phantoka? Quote
Zarkan Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 By the by, Gorast is the chickuta. GregF confirmed and approved! And your point? None of the three summer Makuta look even remotely like a female, sadly proving that TLC has lost the ability to make female bionicles that LOOK like females. And it was so easy to make them back in 2001 and 2004..... :-| Easy, Inika Jaller. She has that heart-shaped face, and a one-piece Blingkini. Let alone red, a very feminine color. There are only 3 situatuions that guy wears red. Any one or more of the following:1. Uniform requirement. 2. He's gay. 3. He's a pimp. ...some may bring up Santa Claus, he falls under #s 1 & 3. I wear red sometimes.... 8-| :-P If high gas prices caused the sets to rise in price, why are doing it to the phantoka? Dunno, I guess they were just trying to hold off as long as they could. Oh well, looks like I'm not buying any of the Mistika.... ;-) Quote
Icesaber Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 And your point? None of the three summer Makuta look even remotely like a female, I think Krika looks sort of feminine. He reminds me of Roodaka. Quote
VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) I think Krika looks sort of feminine. He reminds me of Roodaka. He? Krika is a she. So says TLC. Oh dear. A PM with Greg: VBBN-Okay, so I understand why the Mistika have higher prices, but at the Toy Fair, the phantoka had 12.99 price tags. Will the Phantoka's prices be raised? And what impact do you think these higher prices will have on Buyers?GregF-I believe the Phantoka prices will be going up in summer, when the Mistika come out, and for essentially the same reasons. As for the effect it will have on buyers, no way to predict. While it is a steep increase on the face of it, the canister sets still remain among the lowest priced LEGO sets out on the market. Add to that the fact that toy prices across the industry are expected to rise 10%-15% minimum in the next year or two (due to oil prices and the cost of increased safety checks), and toy buyers will be seeing prices going up in every aisle. My recommendation would be that if you want a Phantoka set and are concerned about the price increase, buy it in the first half of the year. Ugh, that stinks. Good thing I have the Phantoka I wanted. And matoran prices will be $7.00. Edited February 18, 2008 by ~VBBN~ Quote

Can Calyx Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 These sets certainly arn't worth $13 to me. But then, the dollar is losing value- take solice in the fact that you're paying $13 in 2008 dollar value, as opposed to 1990s dollar value. Still sucks. Ah well, I would've only purchased Onua and Jetrax anyway. Quote
VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 Actually Greg confirmed that Gorast is the she. So the ugly four armed, flying green people eater is a girl? That's kinda strange. :-/ Quote
Kowakian Monkey-Lizard Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I never knew LEGO could ruin canister sets so much. *dies* KML Quote

VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) On Gali-- are those joints dark metru blue or original gali light blue? Metru Blue. Oh boy, nice looking canisters. FlamingShadows Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 ah well, the sets might not be that good, ill get all of them anyway ^^ just keep thinking, it could always be worse, matoran prices up to 13 and canister sets up to 20 dollar for example? or making all the toa huge green slimy monsters out of slippery plastic :-D if u imagine that ANYTHING could've happened, these sets ain't so bad of all sudden :-D Quote
Keyblade Wielder Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Gali does look somewhat feminine...No, she doesn't need tits to be feminine. I must say my favorite is Tahu, and those canisters are kickass. Note how the matoran attachment things is on the back of the Nuvstika -KW- Quote

Avian Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I nerver noticed this but Onua had the same chest armor as Krika. Quote
VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 I saw that too. Nice change from inika armor. Quote
The Dor Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Wait a minute... In this picture, Bitils lid is orange? What the? Why would they make a yellow set have an orange lid? Also, these new sets of images are much more promising. The other set was made of more prototype sets, such as last year's Gadunka with the peeling paint. So: Onua: WIN. He is pretty cool looking. The lack of a weapon really doesn't bother me. He looks good carrying a big gun instead. Seems to fit Onua. Also love the use of new chest armor. He looks good in it. Also love the shoulder shield. Gali: Aside from the fact that she doesn't look feminine, she is great. New armor FTW! I actually like her mask, now that I can see it a bit better. The eye replacement looks much less like a fungal growth, and actually looks good. Her mask also reminds me a little of Matoros Iden. Tahu: This is also win. His shuriken-shield is snazzy. His mask doesn't look like a Hau, but seems much more like a mask of shielding to me. The thick limbs and thin armor seems lame to me, but I guess I'll wait and see. Krika: WOW. He is amazing. I don't like how he has Av-Matoran limbs, but the long claws make up for it. Those pieces will be very useful when I take him apart. When I first saw the piece count on Toywiz, I worried. However, I now see that his structure is very good for 40 pieces. Gorast: She is... kinda lame. The worst out of the bunch, in my opinion. However, I think she should be good with her torso flipped around and some Hahli Inika armor attached. Also hate the Av-Matoran limbs. Except her legs. Those are cool. And her middle pair. Those deserve to be small. But her first pair... should be easily replaced. Bitil: I'm looking forward to this guy. The return of the Mata bent arms gives me great joy. The use of a Av-Matoran body worries me a little, but I think it should be okay... The wing/wing cover things look really cool, and I think they'll be cool folded up too. Well, there's my thoughts on the canister sets. DOn't know about the vehicles and crap, prolly won't get em... Quote
VBBN Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Woah, Look! This MM set has white visors in between the saws! 8- Edited February 18, 2008 by ~VBBN~ Quote

Icesaber Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) indeed, i'm still hoping for more matoran's, i'm not satisfied with just 7 matoran's :-/ Don't worry, there's nine: Radiak, Gavla, Kirop, Tanma, Solek, Photok, and Vican in winter, Vultraz and as-of-yet unknown Matoran (probably Mazeka) in the summer. The thing is that the Makuta don't have the things on their backs....-KW- Yes they do. EDIT: ~VBBN~, the green Toa that comes with Axalara T9 that TLC is pretending is Lewa has the spiky visor too.
