BrotherDog Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Well, I have a bit of personal BIONews- remember that YTV Contest someone mentioned a few pages back? Well, I won a couple figs in it, still not sure which, but pics'll be up when I recieve them. :-$ Awesome. Congrats on that..... Quote
Zarkan Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Wow! Congrats on that win, hewkii! The most I've ever won that's lego related is a free poster and starwars mini in a lego club raffle that I didn't even know about.... :-P Quote
hewkii9 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Wow! Congrats on that win, hewkii! The most I've ever won that's lego related is a free poster and starwars mini in a lego club raffle that I didn't even know about.... :-P Lol, how'd you get in the running for the prize then? Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Much clearer Mistika images. Well, I'd like 2 or 3 Krika sets. The rest... meh. Some good panel fairings, but... Quote
dviddy Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Takanuva looks like crap in that picture. I love hollow, see-through legs! Boo hiss boo. <<DV>> Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Ironic how the sale prices are the retail ones. *wacko* also that picture of onua makes me like it even more! Quote
Clonie Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Here's Tahu and Gali. Vultraz is apparently not uploaded yet. Quote
hewkii9 Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 That picture of Rockoh makes it look good- I might try and get it. Worst name in all languages ever though. Quote
Zarkan Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Takanuva looks like crap in that picture. I love hollow, see-through legs!Boo hiss boo. Eh, he still looks okay to me. I'll probably be getting him long after he comes out. He seems to have a lot of great pieces! And I missed out on the original Takanuva, so I'll have to go with this. :-) Lol, how'd you get in the running for the prize then? It was automatic. Winners were randomly choosen out all the club magazine subscribers. I guess the suprise of it was intentional. :-P Quote
Darkness Falls Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Here's Tahu and Gali. Vultraz is apparently not uploaded yet. Damn, that's a huge cross hair on Gali. Does she need it to shoot in the general direction of someone? Oh, and DV... it's one gap. Plus, you should admire the leg construction as it is. The most innovative in years. Quote
Icesaber Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Hmm. Krika looks better than before, Bitil looks worse, but now I can see he has a double-jointed neck. Gorast looks retarded now, and Takanuva has empty shins! Why didn't they fill them?! And his mask now looks more like a Jutlin than the Avohkii. I wish they'd kept the earlier version. The Toa look better in those poses, but I still think they're utter crap, so I won't get them. Rockoh still looks the same, meaning a lunchbox, Jetrax looks less skeletal, and Axalara's top fin looks weird to me now. So I'm definitely getting Krika, probably Bitil, Takanuva, and Jetrax, maybe Gorast and Axalara, slim chance for Rockoh, and a definite no for the Toa. Quote
dviddy Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Oh, and DV... it's one gap. Plus, you should admire the leg construction as it is. The most innovative in years. "Innovation" be damned if it doesn't also look good. Add to this that I deny the innovation that is claimed to exist in these lower legs. I've seen the near-exact same thing in the BBC on crappy Titan MOCs. This doesn't prove TLG's being more innovative, it just means that (like with the Exo-Force robot arms as fingers) they've decided to search through Brickshelf for ideas. <<DV>> Quote

Also don't forget that large Creator mecha they did a few years ago that implemented minifig legs as fingers. :-D They NEVER would've done that if a million billion Brickshelfers hadn't made it the standard. It's such a non-Lego thing to officially do. Quote

This doesn't prove TLG's being more innovative, it just means that (like with the Exo-Force robot arms as fingers) they've decided to search through Brickshelf for ideas. <<DV>> I doubt they look through Brickshelf. How do you know they didn't come up with the hands by themselves? It's not impossible. New thoughts: Gali: ... Whoa. She looks about three thousand times better now. Even the crosshair looks acceptable. Tahu: Er... could he possibly get better? The Hau looks like a classic... lives up to the original. That pose looks familiar... Onua: I like what's visible. I'd like to see how the torso's constructed, as well as what that blaster attachment looks like. I think the colours could have been distributed better, but it'll probably look good in person. Krika: For forty pieces, he's pretty damn good. I'm not sure about them using that red with white, it didn't exactly look godly on Pridak, but maybe they pulled it off well this time. Gorast: That's better. Nice wings, now that I can see them. Still think she's too short though. Bitil: I might have changed the feet to black, but he looks pretty good. I'd like to see those wings folded up. Maybe a bit more height couldn't have hurt. Takanuva: God. He's perfect. Well, almost. He's still awesome besides the shin holes. Rockoh T3: It looks better in this picture, but it is yet to impress me. I like Pohatu, I guess. Jetrax T6: Looks worse. I don't know. It's okay I suppose... Axalara T9: This is the good one. Awesomeness. Yeah, I don't have much to say on the vehicles. Hah. Nynrah Ghost Blasters: You can see in Onua's picture that they're not pre-assembled like the previous two blasters. So, Nynrah respect +1. Still don't know about the accordion thing, it sort of depends on the texture of the plastic. I like how the Toa have their blasters in neutral colours. Unlike the Makuta. BrotherDog Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 That picture of Rockoh makes it look good- I might try and get it. Worst name in all languages ever though. Rockoh cracks his knuckles and says, "What? Yous want I should break yous leg witta pipe? Rockoh don' like when fellas talks abouts him dat way." Yeah. He sounds a bit too much like a cartoon gangster. I just couldn't resist. ;;D Quote
Spartan_01 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Well I guess Tahu looks okay now. Still not as good as I hoped though. Gali's mask looks way better, but still she looks lame. I prefered ToM's sketch of her that he did. If she looked like that, that would be great. Some armour on the front would improve the Misitika. All in all, Phantoka are better. The Makuta are alright, nothing special. Quote
Makuta'sdarkslave Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Okay... My new reviews are in... You kir all gonna be pretty optimistic right? Good. Tahu: Okay... I LIKE IT! He seems to have less armor than I want, but if it works, I'll just trun the torso around (I do that when I don't like the pieces the was they are, ex. Rahkshi leg for arms, when they are upside down and empty, TURN 'EM AROUND!) The mask seems like a cross between a new Knight's Kingdom Head and a ninja mask, still kinda resembles the original one, though. Gali: Oooh, so shiny... in this... picture, yeah. Anyways, the "ears" look okay, kinda like aero-dynamic wings or somthing... fins maybe... For the torso, I'm gonna say the sme thing for Tahu... I'll proably turn it around. Scope/Crosshairs are nice, not like the preliminary messed up Toyfair pictures. She needs to hlod the Blaster with both hands. Kinda sucks that she doesn't have any other weaons. V.V All in all, she's nice. Onua: IT'S A MORE ANGULAR, LESS KRAHKAAN-RESEMBLING MASK! OMG! Sorry, but it's true, ne? A new fron torso piece, and an extra piece on top of the Blaster, which has a laser-thingy on it, and stuff. Those red things on his legs, yeah, it's not ammo, it's umm... It's jet booster thing-a-ma-bobs. He has a shield and wings or fins or something. Not bad, not bad AT ALL. Bitil: I thohgt those "nipples" were normal studs, but now I can see they are those umm... rods-with-tiny-studs-on-the-end. Double-jointed neck, not too bad there, but in my opinion, he is STILL a yellow Takadox, and will never be anything else. Those wings are pretty cool, but seem to heavy and wide. Gorast: BAH! She looks kinda creepy like that... and ugly, but I think it's not bad. What kind of armor is on the other side of that upside-down torso? Nothing. For shame. Sharp claws. The needls mouth seems to have been moved BELOW the space. Krika: this makes him seem... taller. Creepy, but awesome... Don't like the extra limb for the blaster, makes him look like a... filthy vagina... Takanuva: HIS MASK LOOKS... LIKE... SHIT!!!! I don't like it, nor do I like what you guys (or girls) have been pointing out. Blech. Rockoh T3: Pohatu went through a change, now he is TALLER, AND THINNER which is good. The T3 can trap stuff in an energy field, so that's okay. Jetrax T6: Whether it be Antroz, or the more Tahu-resembling being, he is odd. Axalara T9: well... It's like a stealth plane... and I LOVE fighter jets. It shoots lasers, has "tri-arms" and yeah... =_= anyways. 'Nuff said, I guess. Nynrah: It's hard to tell too much about it, the Toa's colors are more gunmetal based, or black, the Makuta's are a weird green. I guess we'll have to wait until we get more info on them, ne? P.S. I just finished construction on my 100% gunmetal dude, so... Yeah. He's awesome and will be appearing in the story I'm writing. Quote
Shakar Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 To Spartan_01: If ToM was a set designer, things would be better...yet again, that’d take away the fun of modiying things you disagree with for yourself. *sweet* Once I get the Mistika Nuva, Onua will receive a few mods to look bulkier (such as replacing the Rahkshi legs with Vahki ones), Tahu will receive Jaller Mahri’s design, on Gali...I love the set (shoot me), but it’s not Gali. I’m getting 2 Gali. One is going receive a few mods and is going to be used as a Dark Hunter (I love that mask!). The other one I’ll use as parts pack to create the new Gali...I have in mind a great design of mine for her which looks perfectly set-like and feminine at the same time...it involves an Inika body, an Inika shoulder as chest armour, a Faxon...you’ll see. I'm going to maintain the silver-dark blue combo, because I love it. Same for Tahu's silver-dark red combo. Oh, for those who don't know, Rockoh is the vehicle, the orange guy is Pohatu. Same for Axalara, the pilot is Lewa. On Jetrax, the pilot is Antroz. Shakar Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 oh I love Gorast! she have lovely wing pieces and creepy face. good, lego good! Quote
Avian Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Now I know why Takanuva is bigger, he gets bigger after DM after he goes into the universe core, and since av-matoran grow bigger while in the universe core, Takanuva being a toa of twilight grows much faster while he is in the core. Quote
Illuminatus Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I'm glad some nice CGI pics of the Mistika finally came along. I'm still not a big fan of the sets, but as usual, the pictures make them look far better. Quote
Drexer Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) Well, seeing that this is my first post here, I think I'll jump right ahead to give my opinion on the last canister sets, and save the vehicles for tomorrow. In truth, it seems that the only thing that TLC is doing is improving my evaluation of things; or to better say: bad guys are good, good guys are horrible. I pretty much consider all of the three Makuta so and so, and I'm happy to say that none of them displeases me much. Krika is the only one that displeases me a bit more, but mainly because the designers perhaps could have just had the brilliant idea to remember themselves that in the case of arachnoid like characters, perhaps some more flowing and curvilinear forms would be better. Or more simply said: why arms and legs with ninety degrees angles!? Gorast and Bitil, pretty much seem to give a good appearance as villains(though, much more like minions than Makuta's), and they should serve as good parts packs. About the Toa... Tahu ends up being the best, except that is mask is well... what most of you are thinking, and taht if they were gonna get him a completely different weapon, they could at least had given him something more original! Gali is well... I'll just say that the only female she reminds me of is Margot from the Hannibal book, those who have read it will probably understand it; the others, Google it X-D . Onua is at least a bit of a toa of earth, but only in the case that he looks like some kind of burrowing creature, because otherwise... he's best resumed as 'wearing Mantax's feet'. I think I got my interior comments all out for today, tomorrow I should have more. Edited March 27, 2008 by Drexer Quote
Avian Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 FoF 6 is up. Carapar gets killed by Tren Krom. Avian Quote
