Icesaber Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I think that if there's a Toa/Matoran/Turaga of Iron, he's more likely to be gunmetal. I think a Toa/Matoran/Turaga of Iron should be gunmetal and dark grey. Each time I look at the Toa Mistika, I want them less and less. Not sure why... Quote
Tyranide Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Oh, yeah, one more thing... I've got some more Mistika pics here. Vultraz Vultraz vehicle Pohatu from Rockoh T3 Rockoh T3 Antroz from Jetrax T6 Jetrax T6 Lewa from Axalara T9 Axalara T9 And, of course, the best one... Some thoughts come here. a) New Antroz mask at this angle is completely awful. It looks better in isometric perspective' b ) New Lewa mask looks better and... more evil, possibly? But I'm never gonna buy Axalara just to get such a cool mask; c) What kind of freak can do such disastrous CG pictures?! Vultraz looks like a piece of meat. Nothing special here, just cheap version of big vehicles. Nuy only if you have extra money, but can't spend them on bigger sets; d) Yo, Takanuva's saying something like "Give all your money to me" is this pose. I was alrady in love when I saw his first pic on the box, but this one... whoa, whoa and whoa one more time, Gonna buy him and Krika at all costs. By he way, do you know that we in Russian will get all canister sets at the old price? Yup, no price increase. But don't curse me, all canister sets here costs more than $20. Let our retailers be cursed! Quote

Icesaber Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 "Pohatu" is awful. Whose genius idea was it to have him use a backwards Inika torso?! The slim Inika armor in orange and the new visor are good, though. And why would they throw silver onto an otherwise pretty good color scheme? And those arms! "Antroz" is yet another boring rehash. Suffers from length of arms (really, would it really be hard to change the arm length by changing one piece?). But the pic makes it look like a Barraki squid in mask form . Fortunately, CGI have a habit of distorting images (Takadox's head, for example), and I'm hoping it looks like in the TF pics, not like this monstrosity. Because if it doesn't, well, the only potential saving point of the figure is gone. Lewa has the same exact design as Lewa Phantoka save his feet, masks, and loss of the blades and jetpacks. Mask looks interesting, but otherwise, . Taka's new mask looks better from this angle than the other CGI. Less evil. But I do prefer the original prototype in the BZP article. Quote
Wrinkledlion X Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 You'll probably hate me for it, but I absolutely love Pohatu's new form... His mask looks tons better with the spikes, he isn't ridiculously bulky like Onua (As his canister set is), and the backwards torso is a nice tip of the hat to his upside-down torso from the olden days. Quote
Natman8000 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) he isn't ridiculously bulky like Onua (As his canister set is), What are you saying?! Onua is not 'ridiculously' bulky, he is supposed to be bulky (and awesome!). Oh, and pohatu shouldn't even be considered bulky, he wasnt until this year. which to me is very uncreative. I mean he was the pretty much only mata toa with a unique design. Now he is just cookie-cutter garbage. Edited May 28, 2008 by Natman4000 Quote
Wrinkledlion X Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 That was phrased poorly. I meant that his Phantoka form is ridiculously bulky by Pohatu's standards, around where Onua should be. Quote
Spartan_01 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Just curious, if anyone has read BL10, could they tell me why Tahu was picked leader? I read the synopsis on bio wikia, but it doesn't say the thing about Tahu . Quote
Phantoka_Chirox Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Why does most of you keep telling us that you hate the mistika? we know the idea already! If you hate the mistika, Just tell it once that leave it alone! ON TOPIC: My opinion is just to make the pohatu un-backwards. And I think those sets are awesome Oh and it says tahu was chosen leader because the OoMN chose him :P EDIT: does anybody have the bitil prototype pic? Edited May 28, 2008 by Phantoka_Chirox Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I know what you mean! From the box, Hydraxon looks gunmetal, which the actual set doesn't have any except his fingers. And it looks like that Tahu and Gali Mistika will look like they have Mata colors on their boxes, while in reality they have Metru versions :(. Fortunately, it looks like at least Axalara and Rockoh will have the colors as advertised on their boxes (Mata red! and Metru green). Oh MAN, thanks for pointing that out! I almost bought Hydraxon, and hearing only the fingers are gunmetal... well hell with that set and it's deceptive packaging. Similarly, I bought Antroz's little buddy, finding out that his lower legs were dark bley... looked like a totally different color on the package. Then, for SOME stupid reason, I got Antroz, thinking he was classic red. He is of course dark red, but damned if the packaging images indicate that. Adding to the confusion is that the canister housing is in classic red. Like I said, the Barraki had it right, and I bought them accordingly. (A bunch!) ON TOPIC: My opinion is just to make the pohatu un-backwards. And I think those sets are awesome That's just it though. It's a "mistake" that looks so intentional. Like, you know right away it's wrong-looking, and then get the need to get other orange sets to "fix" Lego's design. Unfortunately, that means buying a set for one or two parts that you might not have really wanted. Don't sweat the repetitive complaining. Lego's going to spend money and time advertising them into our faces, so telling them "they suck!" at every turn is just making things even. And hopefully making them smarter in the future. Quote
Pencoin Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 on kingdom it says at the beggieing taht brutaka had just sent into the tunnel thing as did dark mirror im surprised greg didnt explain who heryex (sp) was lots of people are going to be confused i think yep i liked kingdom it was decent i guess (why did you die matoro, could of made a happy world with toa kapura) Quote
Clonie Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Kingdom-Matoro didn't die, he's just antisocial now that everyone thinks he's teh fail, for in fact he is. As for Tyranide's pics. I now have an opinion on the T sets. WANT. Also Krika > Onua > Gorast > Gali > Tahu > Bitil Also Maybe next year we'll be getting people with legs down to their wrists? rofl kthxbai Quote

It's only for people who have read Legends #10 and thus know who's Helryx. Takanuva went through three different dimension before ending up (is this right verb?) in Karda Nui... Quote

Tyranide Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 dunno but i meant to say was in dark mirror it seemed lik he had just been sent by brutaka but in this one it does aswell so im confused as to which happens first First goes The Kingdom ('cause in DM Takanuva already has his Power Lance), next comes Dark Mirror, and the last one is The Journey of Takanuva, as I understand. hewkii9 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 The second part of the Kingdom's up, just as good as the first but no new storyline goodies like Fe-Matoran. Quote
Visorak-kal Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Nice new pictures, CGI and all. I am liking the look of the Antroz from Jetrax (although my main interest in those sets is for the vehicles themselves.) I also like the new mask for Lewa Nuva, it works better with the spiked visor than Pohatu's mask. I don't think the backwards Inika body is too bad, because the silver usage does make it appear like armor, but the choice of armor for his back is no good because it is the armor with the space between teh lower body and the armor. I think the other armor would have been a better choice if they were intent on making him backwards. Plus they should have used the shorter double-socket piece for his upper arms, and kept the longer for just his lower body. That would be more fitting of a shorter Pohatu and would prevent his arms being longer than his legs. Antroz works, good usage of Toa Metru legs as arms, that gives him good proportions I think. And Takanuva is EASILY the best set this year. I don't get the Hydraxon argument, when I bought Hydraxon I knew he was all black/silver except for his fingers. The only CGI problem with him is that central body piece ,the PIraka foot, I thought it was going to be a new style of Piraka foot (if you look, the webbed toes appear armored and no longer webbed) but the piece was the same. Oh, well. Oh, and actually, I think the order of Takanuva's journey is BL10, The Kingdom, The Journey of Takanuva, and then Dark Mirror. I recall Greg saying that Dark Mirror comes after the Journey of Takanuva. EDIT: Ack! Beaten while typing my post--that's what I get for typing a long post like this! Anyway, I read it, and I thought it ended well considering its length and the fact that it is a free bonus story. I really like this idea, however, though I had pictured it differently. My way would probably have resulted in a book, though. Just the thought of the Kingdom gave me the freaky idea of the Makuta controlling an underworld beneath the Kingdom, mutated into even more powerful dangers, threatening the sinking island... But to resolve that would take more time than Greg Farshtey has to spare on a bonus story, lol. VK Edited May 28, 2008 by Visorak-kal Quote

Same, I was imagining some manner of gloomy burnt-out shipwreck world, maybe with tonnes of ruined masonry in the midst of the gloom, but I was also hoping for a bit more time in the Kingdom. Quote
Tyranide Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Greg began to quote MNOLG o_O yo, cool! Well, here's very commonly used plot movem but it's still very good story. Liked it very much and printed. Visorak-kal Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Same, I was imagining some manner of gloomy burnt-out shipwreck world, maybe with tonnes of ruined masonry in the midst of the gloom, but I was also hoping for a bit more time in the Kingdom. That is the tough part about shorter stories like this that are really just bonuses. Great ideas don't really get full time to be fleshed out to their maximum because of time and size limitations. I bet you a great book or BZP Epic could be written about the subject of the Kingdom in a different style. I personally wouldn't even mind taking up a project like that myself, if I had the time. I must say, though, the idea of the Kingdom is a neat one. And so is the story behind that Power Lance--that is one sweet Toa tool! One question, though; Matoran of Iron are Fe-Matoran based on the initials for Iron on the periodic table. But if Matoran "iron" is just metallic protodermis, why would they name Matoran of Iron Fe-Matoran? I doubt they have a Periodic Table. So where did the Matoran get the Fe- from? VK Quote
hewkii9 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) Oh, don't be silly. It's just Greg using what's available instead of making something random like Gy-Matoran or Xz-Koro. And I think I might do a reimagining of the Kingdom myself, too. Edited May 28, 2008 by hewkii9 Quote
Zarkan Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I am liking the look of the Antroz from Jetrax (although my main interest in those sets is for the vehicles themselves.) I honestly don't see what you're seeing in him, Kal. Aside from the fact that he bears no resemblance to his canister form at all (not even any black, for Karzahni's sake), he's just as boring a build as you can get. Piraka torso. Limbs. Head. It's getting really tiring. And Pohatu... oh man, that has to be the worst Bionicle humanoid I've ever seen in set form! Monkey legs that are worse than ever, backwards Inika torso, and terrible choice of back armor! In short, he's a mess. Even worse is the fact that Jetrax looks far more slapped together from the new picture - the engines look completely out of place, and probably block the vision of anybody riding it. Oh well, at least Takanuva still looks awesome. *Off to read The Kingdom part two* Quote
