Posted September 27, 200717 yr Ever have lots of good ideas in ur head but no time to try them out? i been training for a new job and i have no time to tinker with my Legos, so the unfinished project(s) just sit there...staring me in the face. kind of disgusting to think of all the cool ideas layed out in ur head while staring at the MOC but no time to actual do them. i made this because i am working on the new recycle/garbage truck that Lego made this yr. its like half way done and i keep thinking "tomorrow ill finish it" but tomorrow never comes.
September 27, 200717 yr You're not the only one. As a student I might once a month get enough time to MOC a little bit, so I end up with lots of ideas in my head. I usually write down or draw my ideas and archive them, so I can get back to them when time's right. That way I don't need to remember them directly, which for me is desirable since I've got other stuff to think about.
September 27, 200717 yr Try having a small baby to look after. Mine is currently asleep on my lap while I sit at the computer. Of course it means I have to type on handed, but I can also design models in ldraw and assemble small models one handed. Built the new AT-ST with just my left hand while bouncing baby on my knee with the right.
September 27, 200717 yr I have tis problem too, a new job opening up soon, and trying to make ends meet and such, I barely have time to actually MAKE anything! :-D :'-( I don't do a lot of MOCing, but that doesn't mean I don't like to tinker with my Lego, and I have no time! But sometimes you have to make time I guess, so this weekend I'm gonna clear my schedule and be a kid again. Up and Atom! :-)
September 27, 200717 yr Author i know this isnt no where as hard but we just got a puppy a few months ago and it is horrible to try to do something and watch him so he doesnt destroy the house. and forget about dropping anything on the floor, its gone before it even hits the floor right...almost like a puppy powered vacuum cleaner. glad to see im not the only one LOL X-D
September 28, 200717 yr I crushed my right hand underneath a truck last week, meaning I have lots of time cause i cant go to work. I cant really do much else though. Built a couple of small things the other day but i'm right handed and it gets a bit tiring after a while. Have to catch up on movie watching instead.
September 28, 200717 yr I sometimes run into two problems when I begin an MOC. 1) I get busy with other things like we all do, and don't get to it for quite a while. 2) I begin working on an MOC and run into "builders block". I look and look at the model but ideas have ceased. So I begin working on another idea that has come to me. Sometimes I am able to finish one and the "builders block" lifts and an idea returnes to finish the previous model. But I have had "builders block" so bad that I had six unfinished ideas in my workshop. Currently I have lots of ideas, but no space to work on them. I definitly agree that drawing them out is a very good way to record them so you don't forget them, the next time something else comes up. I view my Lego building as an art. As an artist, sometimes I experience moments when ideas don't even come to mind. So I will not spend time working in my workshop. This usually only lasts a week or so, and it doesn't happen alot. I have lots of ideas, but they do not seem to pour out into building. Does anyone else have that problem? You find that the idea is in you mind, but you are just not able to build it. It's almost like your mind hasn't put all the pieces together in your head yet. Once the pieces are together, the idea just bursts out. Am I alone in this process?
