Holodoc Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 At least this is a way TLC lets us save some money in 2008... :-| Thank :-X you :-X very :-X much :-X TLC! *y* ...and you *yoda* for pointing it out. Quote
Eothein Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I love it *wub* ! Perfect for accurately representing a cargo plane rather than the smaller, blocky planes of old. Granted it's more <insert that tiresome argument> than previous efforts but I prefer that slight edge of realism. Especially when it looks very cool, as is the case with this one. It looks like a Lego version of a C-130, I wonder if it will have an opening back door. Speaking of which has Lego ever released any Parachuting minifigs? I smell a skydiving MOC coming up.... Quote
phoinix Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 i dont get you guys. some of you who liked the passenger plane hate this one. they look the same to me. same pros same cons big pieces too <insert that tiresome argument> nice design nice color if you ask me so if you liked the new airport and plane why do you hate this? i was hoping for something better my self but i dont think i will be getting this. i never got the passenger plane either. lets hope they make a building for cargo! and a nice truck! can someone remind me what cargo-post sets we know so far will be coming out this year? Holodoc Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Here you go: 7731 post cargo 7732 cargo airPlane 7734 big cargo airplane 7733 truck and Fork-Lift Truck I suppose the 7733 belongs to cargo. Quote
phoinix Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Here you go:7731 post cargo 7732 cargo airPlane 7734 big cargo airplane 7733 truck and Fork-Lift Truck I suppose the 7733 belongs to cargo. i see.. so i guess this is the big cargo plane.. lets hope that the other one is a bit more classic and brick build i wonder what 7731 post cargo is supposed to be? a building maybe? an expansion to the airport??or maybe just a truck... we need pictures! we have seen castle and Indiana Jones and no city!! why why why?? Asuka Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 It's frustrating, because City is enjoying a great revival in the past 2-3 years, but these monstrous planes and ships just don't have any appeal to me because they don't "fit" with the rest of my collection. I agree for these planes, but the ships have some potential if you Quote
Siegfried Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I guess I'm the only one who really quite likes it? Not at all, I just said that the parts are hard to re-use. I like it as a model, just like I still like my 7893, but I am a bit limited with space so I really shouldn't buy another one as I don't want to add more hard to use parts to my collection. I am more interested in the smaller planes promised at this stage. Even so, when the Vikings came out I said the same, and I bought them all! :-$ Quote
Batbrick Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Thanks for the pic *yoda* ! Anyway, I just thinks it is okay, nothing too great, nothing too bad, just okay. I bought the Airport last year and the plane is really big, but even if it does use really <insert that tiresome argument> parts I like it because it is realistic and I hate the 4-wide design of older planes. Plus the one in the airport set was the smaller one ;-) I am going to hang my plane up, It will look good in the air and won't take up so much space. I probably won't buy this because of the horrible colour scheme :-X , and the fact that it will take up too much space |-/ . On the plus side it looks like it has great accessories. I think that a cargo plane was TLC's chance to make a cool little six wide cargo plane, but they went with a huge one! |-/ Overall, I don't quite think it deserves the hate it is getting, but I will rteserve my final judgement until I see a better pic. Also, whats so bad about the harbour? I mean sure it is big, but that was a great set! *sweet* TTFN! >:-) Quote
legobear Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 I really have my hopes up for the smaller cargo plane. How come no one has talked about the smaller version? Yes the big green one is gross. I love itty bitty planes. Do you guys think it will be like those promo sets? One person who saw it said that it's medium size.... And I have no idea what that means 8-| Quote
maiq the liar Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) That thing would overshadow my whole town! It'd be like a B-52 bomber.I had a rant a few months back about the "embiggening" (to borrow a word from the Simpsons) of the City line. The new airplanes, the new cargo ship, even the six-wide vehicles ... everything is getting bigger. The scale is all out of whack with the traditional, classic City scale. It's frustrating, because City is enjoying a great revival in the past 2-3 years, but these monstrous planes and ships just don't have any appeal to me because they don't "fit" with the rest of my collection. Well, they fit in with mine just dandy because... Well, back in the early 2000s when cars were 4-wide, let's just say i wasn't very good at keeping sets together. i rather like it myself i have room to spare, i just need to clean up a bit. *looks at brown drawer whose top is occupied by a TIE interceptor, old train Depot MOC, Clutter, Garbage truck, Tiny cactus, game case, Bionicle canister, more clutter...* Edited September 30, 2007 by maiq the liar Quote
Wout Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 for anybody who's been stressed about the big plane with <insert that tiresome argument> pieces: Relax!, there will be a little plane (yellow I thought) with more pieces and a early 90ies design. Yesterday I was in my special local toyshop and I knew the shopowner quite good, so I could take a peek from him in the new retail catalog for 2008 *y* :-D the post cargo is a little car (yellow?) with a postman, atleast one letter and a nice red postbox (a bit like the old postboxes, but other colour and postprinting on it) *sweet* I forgot a bit about the truck and Fork-lift, but they also look nice. ;-) Quote

I'm really happy to see some "classic" small brick build planes ;-) So we're having a postal truck and small cargo plane !! Cool, I hope to see a smaller post office, and a postal small vehicle (bike, motorbike with sidecar like the old one ??). Lets hope TLC expands on that !! Can't wait to see pics ;-) *yoda* Quote
5150 Lego Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Wow. I take off for a few days, and look what i've missed. First off, don't you guys that don't like this set passing judgment alittle to soon? I mean com'on, the pic quality is absolutly horrible, and shows no detail what so ever. It really isn't a good enough pic to show any detail. For all we know, it could come with some really nice pieces that haven't been seen before. personally, i like the color scyeme, and the props are a nice touch. Keeps it differnt than the airliner we saw last year. I understand that many are unhappy with its size, but it is much more realistic than the 4 wide planes we had in the past. In all, lets wait till we get some better pics till we go bashing. Quote
legobear Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 My biggest mistake was not getting into the mini planes earlier or else I would have gone to every airline to buy their 06' promos :'-) but looking at the indy plane, and the description of the yellow cargo plane makes me so :-P gleeful. I have a question for you veterans (I'm new to Lego City) that have years of knowledge about Lego City sales; can you guys give me your approximation for when these will debut in stores or S@H? I can't wait :'-( thanks guys :-D Quote
