November 23, 20159 yr Great stuff! I really like your different solutions to mimic certain shapes and textures. I especially love the Bauhaus builds and the building by Le Corbusier. Btw. the Dessau masters house you've chosen is a reconstruction (two of the seven houses were destroyed in WW II) - the new build just mimics the shape but has no details of the original building.
December 2, 20159 yr Author Thank you ER0L, both for the nice words and the information. Some new creations. Wrapping up my Bauhaus week with three small creations: Bauhaus school building in Dessau by Gropius, Chamberlain Cottage by Gropius, and Farnsworth House by Ludwig van der Rohe. The Bachman-Wilson House by Frank Lloyd Wright. Somehow i lost the length of the building in the photo. Also, I was supposed to take the photo from ground level, that is why I did not bother to build all windows all the way down :) Casa Gilardi by Luis Barragan. It was a lot of fun to play around with lights and shadows. Duplo-brutalism. Happy to use my son's Duplo. From Iran. German balconies. It is funny sometimes, that something that looks like a straightforward simple and quick build gets complicated by a small detail. In this case the thin walls of the balconies. December 2, 20159 yr Some lovely creations in here. But the cherry on top is your photography skills. I so love how you catch the highlights of the builds compared to the real photos. Very great work indeed !
December 8, 20159 yr Author Some lovely creations in here. But the cherry on top is your photography skills. I so love how you catch the highlights of the builds compared to the real photos. Very great work indeed ! Thank you for those very kind words! I continued with some more shadow work :) Coleman A. Often described as a turning point for FLW, where he moved towards his characteristic prairie style.
February 3, 20169 yr Author Hi guys, some more small Architecture MOCs. Villa la Roche by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. This is a double house but I did not have the time nor bricks to finish the whole. That is also why I built the windows with black bricks, as that goes faster than proper ones. Inside Villa la Roche Aircondiotional love. Lego minimalism. Shadow play, a little bit of my favourite theme… It is so much fun, especially if you involve stairs. Canadian Church and my first round Lego window :) This is how it often looks when I take my pictures. Experimenting with green background, because it looks nice in black and white. However I picked black background in the end. Beach kiosk bathing in the full moon light. From my own imagination. Shadow play inspired by Nicholas alan Cope, my favourite photographer. Shadows in court yard, inspired by photo from Raven van Baak. The sun hits the roof of Auroville Townhall, India. Suprisingly cool effects in the white grille plates :) Shadows in stairs Window from inside of Bauhaus Masters’ House in Dessau, by Gropius. Roof top of Villa Tugendhat by Mies van der Rohe. N-house in Tokyo by Tamagami Edited February 3, 20169 yr by Askan
February 3, 20169 yr Fantastic job with "shadows in stairs". Well, all of them are great, but that one really caught my eye.
March 17, 20168 yr Author Fantastic job with "shadows in stairs". Well, all of them are great, but that one really caught my eye. Thank you that is very kind! Experimenting with some impossible figures inspired by some pros like Reuterswärd, Escher and Penrose as well as other Lego amateur builders I have seen on internet. It is difficult with white very reflecting Lego... First out, Impossible Trellick Tower Next is a Scooby Doo mystery... A mix of figures, including a variation of Penrose triangle Impossible cube inspired from Escher. Edited March 17, 20168 yr by Askan
March 17, 20168 yr Author No nothing is photoshopped. I take the pic with my iphone and then I do some processing in the iphone to get a black background from the black paper I use as abckground. Normally I adjust the contrast and shadow a little.
March 19, 20168 yr I very much enjoyed looking through all of your photos and was very pleased when I was unsure what was Lego and what was a real building. You captured the pictures so well. Lego and modernism seem like a perfect match. I have often wondered about trying to capture some of my favourite artists work in Lego, now I feel inspired to give it a try.
March 19, 20168 yr Wonderful! Logistical question: do all of your builds only use one Architecture Studio pack? With the discount at my local store (noted in another thread) I might take the plunge if so...
March 20, 20168 yr Author I very much enjoyed looking through all of your photos and was very pleased when I was unsure what was Lego and what was a real building. You captured the pictures so well. Lego and modernism seem like a perfect match. I have often wondered about trying to capture some of my favourite artists work in Lego, now I feel inspired to give it a try. That' s wonderful! Give it a go! Yes modernism fits perfect for Lego because of the basic shapes. Wonderful! Logistical question: do all of your builds only use one Architecture Studio pack? With the discount at my local store (noted in another thread) I might take the plunge if so... Thanks! I started with one box of the studio set, so my first creations are only from that. Then I have added more and more white bricks. Some to be able to build bigger things (more basic bricks like 2x2, 1x6 etc) and many more tiles and some other pieces. The studio set is however great and the limited amount of bricks really boosts ones creativity and you get away from the demand of building perfect things. So a studio set to begin with then just order some extra stuff on Lego online shop later. I have stayed with basic bricks and so far I dont use special bricks like windows, doors, fences etc. Edited March 20, 20168 yr by Askan

March 22, 20168 yr my architecture building is on Lego Idea site. i have made the Taj Mahal. have look maybe you can support me Your Lego Ideas links have been removed. Stop asking everyone to support your idea. 2 of your 3 posts so far have asked for support. Instead, make a topic about your MOC and share photos on this site. Read below. LEGO Ideas: If you have a great MOC, that is also a LEGO Ideas project, you may present it on EB as you would any MOC, with a single link to the Ideas entry. Make the title about the MOC, not the Ideas business; don't be too shouty, and it is likely to be tolerated. You need to be thinking: 'I want people on EB to see my MOC and comment on it. If they like it, perhaps they'll support it on LEGO Ideas', rather than: 'I want Ideas support! If I post it on EB, perhaps more people will vote!. You should probably go through the Site Guidelines to ensure you don't break any additional guidelines.
March 23, 20168 yr What a great exercise! Those are fantastic recreations of the original images and lighting. I also enjoy the behind-the-scenes images showing how you do it. Very cool.
March 24, 20168 yr Author Xon67 and Collectorman65, thank you very much! I will try to post some more behind the scenes :) Here are some more creations: Villa Tugendhat by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Regret i didn't hide the studs in the windows, but i was afraid to run out od tiles :) Miniversion of Model Team Highway Rig Ordinary stairways Ministry of Justice, London, by Basil Spence. Lookup detail. Bang & Olufsen Beosystem 5000 by Jacob Jensen IC Innovation Center by Alejandro Aravena. Nordic Pavillion for 1958 Venice Biennale by Sverre Fehn. September 7, 20168 yr Author My Lego version of Gropius House in Lincoln, MA, USA, by Bauhaus founder and architect Walter Gropius. This was Gropius home from it was built 1939 until he died 1969. It grew bigger than planned and I ran out of bricks, therefore it is not fully up to scale and I have removed one part. Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr The roof is built in another direction and I just put it as a lid on top of the house. This was the only way I could figure out how to make thin lamellar sun screen. Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr I always feel extra satisfaction when I get to use my white technic axles in architecture builds. Gropius House by Anders Löfgren, on Flickr I often build with renders as inspiration as they are more clean than photos (no bushes, tress, cars, curtains, etc) and it is often impossible to find photos where you can see roof details. September 7, 20168 yr Looks really great Askan, I like your selections and building style a lot. True to the original but still with some individual character. Good idea using renders. I should probably try that as well.
September 9, 20168 yr Author Looks really great Askan, I like your selections and building style a lot. True to the original but still with some individual character. Good idea using renders. I should probably try that as well. Thanks! Yes try to find renders, it is great for scale, details, etc but you will need original photos as well as renders are never 100% with the details :) Great! You nailed the buildings and also took excellent photos of your models. Thank you :)
October 25, 20177 yr Really too bad, the pictures are offline. I loved your designs and this topic was actually the reason I bought the architecture set (21050).
