DuckBricks Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Really? Watch An Under worldly Takeover. Really? I'd be freaked out if those tried to get me. I mean, the heroes will probably encounter those lava things a lot, which are unanimously the goofiest mob Lego put into a show. I have seen it, and while the skeletons did manage to pull off more of a menacing appearance there, watch any of the pilot episodes or any of the other mini movies featuring the skeletons and you'll see they were goofy and extremely incompetent, and written more as comedy than villain. What we've seen of the lava monsters as of now isn't much, but they certainly aren't solely comedy - the evil cackling of the red spheres and even their leaders - Jestro and the BoM - are certainly more menacingly scary than Ninjago's skeletons were. But as I mentioned, it's too early to make a definitive statement on this until we get the first few episodes... Quote
DraikNova Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Also, that metallic spiderweb effect whenever Jestro transforms is pretty creepy looking. Quote
gamejutzu Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Well yeah, Jestro's creepy and those bro cyclops things aren't bad either. I was just talking about the lava puddle things, which are goofier. Sorry. The skeletons actually weren't bad, since six of them did manage to tussle with Nya, and another time when six of them (maybe the same ones?) almost took down Kai. The only really goofy ones are Kruncha and Nuckal. The rest of them are only goofy when they lose their body parts or are running for their lives, which is normal. Other than that, they pull off a solid job, doing things like jumpscaring Cole and capturing Jay and Zane. In the third season, they looked pretty imposing, using their arms as weapons. But yeah, Jestro's probably gonna be the creepiest. Even his weapon looks scary. Let's hope he does a good job of being a joker-esque villain, it's all I want. Quote
dannallcorn Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Personally i cant wait but i can see why some are dubious of it Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 So, yep, turns out Jestro is Vincent Tong (Kai) and the Book of Monsters is the guy who voices Garmadon. I thought Vincent was Clay, they sound so similar. Quote

Robert8 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I wonder why "the queen" doesn't have a crown Maybe she is not the queen. Maybe she is a concubine Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I thought Vincent was Clay, they sound so similar. Anyone else who is significant playing other roles? Quote

CM4Sci Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Even better news—Jestro apparently gets a chance to SING! ..Really? Eh, only fitting I guess. Quote
DuckBricks Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 New trailer on Lego.com, featuring Knights "suiting up," some new villain shots, etc. Getting pretty hyped for this show! Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Wait, I can't find the airing date for it (what, it might be interesting). When is it? I now it said late December, but is the newer info more specific? Anyone? Quote
PenPlays Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 ... And the TV show is a miniseries... of shorts. Episode 1 is up, called Alliance of the Fortrex. Some odd jokes here or there. Voice cast is the same guys who did Ninjago (and yes that's Vincent Tong, Kai from Ninjago, as Jestro, and Mark Oliver, Garmadon, as the Book of Monsters). It appears that whenever a shield symbol flashes across the screen, that's when the app can interact with the show. It's quite cool, or at least the sound of it is. Does anyone know if the app is available yet? All I've got is outdated devices on hand, so I can't check. Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Huh. Too bad they're just shorts. There could have been some good techno-fantasy storytelling happening. Looks like the credits are being done in Chima style. As expected, it's quite goofy. And that "download!" transformation part reminds me of those cheesy fights in Sonic Boom. I wonder what the main theme is? As in the music kind? Not song, music. Edited November 28, 2015 by gamejutzu Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Oh it was odd, but... like always I hoped for something better... I DO like the Scan sequence! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I hope that's not what the show is like. That was probably the blandest most lukewarm attempt at a Webisode I've ever seen. All the characters were incredibly flat. The voice acting on Clay was good, but the voice acting on Jestro was disappointing. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

However, I also like Silver's (what's his name??) voice acting as well. I DO like the Scan sequence! Eh, fine, but to me it looked very generic. Each character's little "upgrade" sucked. Same background, same weapons, even the same pose. Quote
Mandate Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Ewwww... I had a feeling this was by the same team that made Chima, and somehow they didn't even manage to meet my already low standards. Boring, one-dimensional characters, lifeless animation with no weight to it, cheesy dialogue and way too much "NEXO this!" and "NEXO that!". Is this the new Hero Factory? I must admit, I initially laughed when they did the "power up" scene at how corny it was (reminded me of Power Rangers), but by the end I actually kind of liked it. Kids will probably eat this up, but I honestly hope the next adventure of the Nexo Factory Rangers is at least a little bit more well done. I think the problem here is that this is just a super-glorified commercial. It's not an actual "episode" per se, but rather something more like taking a guy that's never heard of the Halo franchise and then shoving them into the fifth level of Halo 5 and expecting them to follow along with all the crazy stuff that's just happened. I'm still willing to give them a (very small) chance for the TV show, I've seen a lot of people say that the final season of Chima (which I never saw) was very good. I just hope this isn't demonstrating the general tone of the line, I don't think I can tolerate 8+ episodes of this. Quote

I assume (and hope I'm right) that this won't be anything like the actual episodes and this is just a mini movie ad, like the Ninjago 5(?) minute shorts from 2011, which are about on par with this. Robert8 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Well... that was poor No plot whatsoever So far it looks like 5 Nexo Knights are just too much for a miniepisode Quote
dannallcorn Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Its only the first of 8 webisodes to get things rolling the full series should flesh it out a bit. Quote
Cagast Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Wow, so generic and disappointing. If the full episodes are like this, this could be less interesting than Chima, which I hated. Also, very poor jokes. At least the animation is better than Ninjago and Chima. But even if the real TV show is like this, I don't care because this first set line is great. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Well, there's going to be a 20-ish episode first season, I hope they're not all like this. Oh, and that was a verrrrryyy long power-up scene. Edited November 28, 2015 by CM4Sci Quote
gamejutzu Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 At least the animation is better than Ninjago and Chima. I am not trying to start an argument, but i'd really like to know what makes you feel that way. The effects (magic and impacts) are good, but the actual animation, like running and attacking? To me it looks on par with Chima or worse. Quote
