eurotrash Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 MOC: Chinatown Residential Buildings As soon as I saw the Sand Green Elves Fences I knew I had to use them in a building for Chinatown. I wanted some place that looked ram-shackled and lived in, but that also had a sense that Hipsters had started to infiltrate and renovate the area. So I ended up with one side of the building looking a bit seedy and rundown with washing hanging from one of the balcony's. And the other side with the original ground floor (complete with window AC) and a hipster-gentrified upper floor. The rear of the building is somewhat plain and unassuming. Hope you like it. As usual comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome. Quote
Iria Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Nice balconies. The olive green and the reds work surprising well together. I like the front entrance ways. Not a fan of the brown but you did mention it's a ram-shackle building, so I guess brown does work in that respect, also the dumpster out front. Quote
kermit Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 You sir are truly a master builder. The wide variety of so many parts that I wouldnt even think would be useful in a modular building is amazing. Quote
dr_spock Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Nice. Hanging laundry outside on a pole reminds me of Hong Kong apartment buildings in the 1970's. Quote
Only Sinner Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I don't think it looks seedy, I think it looks nice. Even with the dumpster in front, the building looks OK and everyone has a smile on their face. I really like the different windows in particular. Quote
eurotrash Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 You sir are truly a master builder. Pfft! But thanks anyway... I really like that clothes line! Nice. Hanging laundry outside on a pole reminds me of Hong Kong apartment buildings in the 1970's. Yes, that's what I was aiming for! I originally had a washing machine on the lower balcony, but I couldn't get a decent image of it so I removed it at the last minute. Thanks for the comments. Quote
Bartram Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Nice work! The green elves fence looks great with the red. The clothes line is cool too! Quote
badchriss Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I`ve been always a Fan of those classic NYC styled Row Tenements. That Lego Elves Fence is really a unique Part that fits in very well with classic Architecture. It has also a certain Art Nouveau Feeling...just imagine it in Combination with beige colored Bricks as Part of an Art Nouveau Building. Also that`s a clever use for those grey Canopy Parts. Quote
