promobricks Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Toy Soldier is the LEGO Christmas Tree Ornament 2016 (5004420) - revealed at LEGO Store Berlin (see here for more details) Cheers, Michael Quote
Legocity2713 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Whoa, thanks promobricks! These bags always have some pretty cool builds. No exclusive pieces (except for the assumed 2016 printed brick) making it easy to relicate. I'm liking it. :) Quote
x105Black Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 No. It seems to alternate between "vignette year" and "character model year", and this year there don't seem to be any side-sets with minifigures in them. That's good news for my wallet this year. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Mmm.... I love Toy Soldiers but I'm not sure about that one Quote
Blackpool Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Those eyes! Those creepy, creepy eyes! Quote
makoy Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I'm getting disturbed by that black moustache which appears to be more like a black bar being bitten and sticking out of his mouth. It is creepy like the others. I'm not a fan of this years seasonal models at all... Quote
Bricknblue Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 LEGO is really outdoing themselves with the creepy factor this year. Quote
badchriss Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 LEGO is really outdoing themselves with the creepy factor this year. If you`re thinking about that TRU "Child friendly" Giraffe than you`re pretty right. Oh my Gosh,i just realised by putting Child friendly in Quotation Marks i made it even worse.... Quote
Vorkosigan Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 That's good news for my wallet this year. Yea honestly I'm ok with them alternating because the vignettes are always available for a short time and sometimes push me to pay full price for larger sets to get free shipping. Obviously, this is part of the point to LEGO. But I don't mind taking a break from that and focusing on getting sets from other sources at a discount. Quote
Aanchir Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I think the toy soldier looks adorable! I love his mustache! It's weird to me how "creepy" seems to be people's first reaction to just about anything released this year that's the least bit silly or cartoony-looking. Quote

Capparezza Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) BTW: If you buy something at the LEGO Store in Berlin these days (that is, until the grand re-opening, when rebuilding is finished, on 24th Nov) you get a coupon for a free Toy Soldier ornament on your next visit. Just happened to drop by at the store on Friday. Just be sure to redeem that coupon on 24th, it says "while supplies last"... Edited September 12, 2016 by Capparezza Quote

The Cobra Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I wonder if anybody at TLG remembers how 2015 seasonal sets looked like. There's not one 2016 set that looks better than its counterpart from one year ago. Some are average, some are just awful. Quote
parsom Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Yeah, sure - vigs every year. Come on, vampire is awesome. He looks far better in reality than in photos. Those elves are funny and in some way are something new. That's the essence of Lego. Quote
Legocity2713 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I know the goal is to make silly models but these are just laughable. That said, this one isn't the worst of them and has some pretty good pieces... But what is up with those noses. XD Quote
tafkatb Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 There's not one 2016 set that looks better than its counterpart from one year ago. None of these sets have counterparts from one year ago. Their counterparts are from two years ago, because they alternate every other year. Even then... yeah, I think I mostly prefer 2014's figures, with the exception of this year's vampire, which I like a lot more than the 2014 bat. Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Anyone notice the elf is worthy of mjolnir? That's Thor's hammer haha Quote
makoy Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Anyone notice the elf is worthy of mjolnir? That's Thor's hammer haha Are they supposed to be elves?? I had no idea. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I really hope the 2017 seasonal line will be vignettes again And it would be nice if they include more holidays like New Year's Day Actually I can't believe New Year's Day isn't included here. It's far more celebrated worldwide than Easter or Thanksgiving or St Valentine's Day Quote
Legocity2713 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Guess the upcoming reindeer set really will be a polybag. Pretty nifty looking; definitely better than the main line of seasonal sets for the year. https://www.instagra...en-by=brickvibe Credit to BrickVibe. EDIT: If anyone can embed the photo into the forum rather than just the link we would all greatly appreciate it. I really have to learn how to do that one day :) Edited September 17, 2016 by Legocity2713 Quote
