Sven F Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 TLG isn't Luis Vuiton or Swarowski, they don't sell luxury status items for a premium, so it really isn't their business to worry about upsetting the aftermarket value of something that cost $3 TLG never sold the chicken for $30 nor was it ever their intention for anyone to buy it for that price. So how is it in their interest to protect the value of something they never profited on in the first place? I never bought the Chicken for $30 why did you? Quote
Actor Builder Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I never bought the Chicken for $30 why did you? "Because I was certain the price would increase to $60!" Ha. No. I bought the chicken when it first came out on accident. It was before the second price rise and I would grab some randomly. Can't afford to pick at random anymore. Quote
DD840 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Any chance the chicken suit guy will still be available in stores this weekend? I can't drive down to a TRU until then. Quote
Tech Artist Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) Any chance the chicken suit guy will still be available in stores this weekend? I can't drive down to a TRU until then. It likely will be. It's showing as available for Free Store Pickup for my store on their website(which if nothing else you can still order this online or just do store pickup if you can). They seem to have a large stock despite the issues in the beginning. Edited March 2, 2016 by Tech Artist Quote
CM4Sci Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Good thing I got the Chicken 3 years ago! :) Jesus, 3 years? I remember when Series 1 was just a bunch of cool Minifigures on stickers. Quote
blackknightrises Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Unfortunately it looks like TRU has currently taken the Chicken Suit Guy off of their website. It was on there earlier, but with Free Store Pickup as the only available option. I'm hoping they add it back. I wasn't able to grab one before they sold out. Quote
BlockLogo Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I got my chicken suit guy in the mail yesterday, in a damn postage bag. The cardboard coop box thing is all torn up. Quote
Tech Artist Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I got my chicken suit guy in the mail yesterday, in a damn postage bag. The cardboard coop box thing is all torn up. Is the Minifigure ok? Also, the cardboard coop is nothing special. It's just a folded, printed box that is blank on the inside and honestly the artwork is not great anyhow. Quote
BlockLogo Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I'm sure the figure is ok. I ordered another little Speed Champions set too to get free shipping and that box is all beaten up too. I'll think twice before ordering from TRU online again... Quote
DarrellBricker Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I went to a Toys R Us near me yesterday, to no avail. The staff member I spoke to didn't know what I was talking about, even after I explained it was an Easter promotional figure. I watched her go on the website, which of course didn't help any because the figure was taken down ... so, no Chicken Suit Guy for me yet. I am hoping another Toys R Us nearby might have it, or that the one near my niece does - I put her on the job. On the plus side, the store DID have Series 15 minifigures so I picked up a few more of those instead. Quote
Tokru Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Those boxes are going to cost a whole lot of money on the aftermarket. There are so many people with boxless chicken suit figs out there that are gonna wanna complete their set. Wait, the box could be valuable? I just got the chicken suit guy in the Lego Store for free and imediately dumped the box because it seemed pointless to have that. Quote

If people want their terrible cardstock they can have it. I have no need to try an make money off it. I have one of my Chicken guys on a CMF Display plate and the other just standing next to him(don't have anymore plates). Edited March 4, 2016 by Tech Artist Quote

They also had Series 15 random figures, and some of the 2015 mini modular buildings I noted in another thread... Quote

Actor Builder Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It seemed to me like he was joking. I don't think anyone really cares about the packaging. So many people care about it. Notice the Chicken Guy with box is $6, whereas the Chicken Guy in a little random bag was only $3. Half the value (and resale value) is obviously in the little Chicken Box. Quote

According to this article, the Toys R' Us website(and I'm guessing in store again) may have him back as part of a promotion. Like I'm guessing, purchase $25 or $75 in Lego get him for free. Buy any 2 sets get him for free. Something. Quote

LegoInHand Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Hope they don't or it makes ours less valuable. I had no idea these old figures were 10x the retail price on the secondary market. As someone who snagged 3 or 4 of these (retail price) at various stores when these were still new, and with multiples of other "rare" figures like the bunny guy (some still sealed), I say bring it on! Reprint them all! I'd support a 2017 CMF special reprint set of 16 costumed figures from previous sets (followed by regular releases or rotations). I don't even care that I paid $15 for a Lizard guy two years after he went OOP. The costume figures are awesome and nothing would please me more to see them available again even if I already have some of them. It'd be another excuse to get more! Quote

Given the popularity of costumed characters in the CMF line, I wouldn't be surprised if they release a themed series with 16 (new) costumed minifigures, like the monsters series. Wow I just saw the secondary prices of the Bumblebee figure and they disgust me. Nothing would make my day more than a reprint CMF set that included her just to ruin the day of the hoarders. Quote
Robert8 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 From what I've reading and seeing, the price of the Chicken Suit Guy has dropped significantly in the aftermarket I wouldn't be surprised if we see more old CMF's returning. Quote
DD840 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Went to the TRU at Everett on the way home from a Seattle roadtrip and no word on chicken suit guy coming back. The first staff person didn't know anything but the cashier and manager said it had sold out the first day and that the warehouse in California had only had 3 cases left earlier in the week so stores near there probably got that stock. Bumblebee girl is available as a keychain now at Lego stores so I'm hoping more animal suits will be returning in one form or another. Quote
Robert8 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 It seems LEGO is giving away a free chicken suit guy with any purchase on Lego.com Quote
sithewok Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Supplies must not have lasted long. I followed the link in my email as soon as I saw it - the ad was still on the main page, but no matter what I added to my cart it would not add in the chicken suit guy. Now the ad is gone from the main screen. Quote
blackknightrises Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I never even got an email about it... Was this for the US or somewhere else? Quote
