Still Raindrop Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) I cannot see where the NK shields are being used as floor tiles. Help? Zoom in on the aerial shot of the entire first (or ground, of you're European) floor--the floor tile in front of the teller's window, where the customer first walks in, has (I think) dark bley and sand blue shields. It's a really NPU to get some angled tiles. Edited October 11, 2015 by Tea Weevil Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) I will buy it, but I went be happy about it. Another price increase. It may be good value for money, but it seems it will be almost all small pieces AND the trend is to keep going up in price. Good for LEGO I guess. Since they are the hot thing right now and their profits are through the roof. I'm glad I've bought less. Especially with all of the problems...anyway back on topic Interesting details, but small building. The laundry doesn't match up too well with the back. I'd expect a bigger back facade, especially for s corner building. I understand the need for the laundry for the story, but raising the price, why keep a story? Kids aren't buying it. They weren't buying it before and most adults don't care about play value... I like sand green window. The black railing is neat. Ingots as decor is an interesting choice. It adds some depth but something feels off about them. Edit. It seems the modulars are in the same universe as Scooby doo... Edited October 11, 2015 by TheLegoDr Quote

I like the laundromat--not only for the play value, but also for the varied look it gives. I like aristo in my town--different building heights, widths, styles, etc. We've had three corner buildings that were one building with a door facing the corner. This bank gives us a different door position, as well as what looks like a 24-wide building with some depth next to a 10-wide building (that actually has a somewhat larger interior). I understand why you don't like it--it's certainly not as grand as some of the previous corner buildings--but it's perfect for me. Quote
uksuzanne Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I like the fact it has printed windows & hopefully is a no sticker set. Also hope that the pricing is correct at £119 GBP. Not keen on the Laundromat being next to the bank personally, so I might see if I can put that on a separate plate & fill in the gap with something else. Maybe a loading bay for a Securicor van. Now just have to wait for January. Thank you for posting the pictures & info. Quote
took9 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 It's an excellent building. But i don't like the theme "bank". Maybe it's good for explaining your children the former funktion of a bank. In the area were I come from there are no banks anymore - and they are not needed anymore... Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) Very excellent set. Love the Very Classic look...well done again... But a little thing here, i see the set is missing an important minifigure ( a cup/Security Guy ). Since this is a Bank, then there should be a couple of them...;-) Edited October 11, 2015 by VintageLegoEra Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Most of the Modulars are set in the 1930s-1950s era, so they aren't restricted by current standards. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I cannot see where the NK shields are being used as floor tiles. Help? This a zoom-ed in picture of the floor tile pattern. I think these shields add a nice 3D-effect to the floor pattern. Quote
bjorkan Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 This is great set, both for collecting and playing. I do not know where to get some more money for this one, as well... Quote
Vodnik Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) Many people expected this part to appear in the next modular, yet it wasn't used: http://alpha.brickli...em.page?P=20310 EDIT: Actually it was! But only as legs for the desk, not facade details as some predicted. Edited October 11, 2015 by Vodnik Quote

Gremer Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I'm not a fan of the Creator buildings usually but I might just have to get this one. The detail on this is fantastic. Quote
Vodnik Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Are you quite sure? Read what you quoted Quote
Gongoro73 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Read what you quoted Yeah, you edited it while I was publishing the picture. :)But you're right, it could have worked really well on the facade, given the architectural style. Quote
Terrasher Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 This a zoom-ed in picture of the floor tile pattern. I think these shields add a nice 3D-effect to the floor pattern. Hahah! The technique used with glass doors to make those frameless windows is very ingenious! As for the rest of the modular, not the greatest building nor the worst. It's a bit short (shorter than the Grand Emporium), but it should fit in nicely next to the Parisian Restaurant, Pet Shop or Detective's Office. As in the last two modulars, there is an incredible amount of detail inside the set as well as lots of fun play features. I'm excited to see the reviews and purchase the Brick Bank as soon as possible! Quote
nesquik Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Not sure what to think this time round... There are some nice smaller details - or at least ideas - such as the grey 2x1 'gold bar' piece used for brickwork, the clock on the corner, the skylight and the tall windows on the first floor. I also really like the interior this time round as it's far more logical than D.O, and features some excellent micro-builds. But to me it just lacks a bit of identity; more specifically, a grandness. It's hard to tell where the designer got their inspiration from for the mural above the door and the facade surrounding the roof - these are really important areas for an old building as they become a signature. They look interesting but don't strike me as being realistic like previous buildings, where you could recognise the architecture from the real world. Perhaps if Jamie designed it*, there would have been more research done? I'm not too crazy about the forced-storytelling either. Yes, a little is sweet, and I think the P.R is a great example of where the story doesn't get in the way of design, yet actually enhances it. The laundromat has no purpose other than for connecting to an air shaft where the robbers steal the money. Again, it's interesting, but since a corner building already sacrifices space for the extra pavement, it seems wasteful to have a large bank standing next to a downtown laundromat. It just needs something more up-market, such as common clothes store of the period like a hat shop. Also, where is the money van? That is another opportunity to take the builder back to the time period. On the whole, a nice parts pack but a little disappointing. *I'm presuming Marcos Barosa was the designer, looking at the printed 'Prize Ticket' tile with a similar signature... Quote
fred67 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 So... I like it. A lot. The detail is really quite nice. I'm not big on interiors, since it will eventually sit on a train layout display, but the interior and roof elements and little details on the exterior made it quite nice, IMO. I honestly can't figure out what a lot of those pieces are. I like the fact it has printed windows & hopefully is a no sticker set. Cinema had stickers... I'm doubting this will be printed on clear, but what do I know? Quote
mediumsnowman Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 When I first saw this it was rather disappointing. I didn't like the concept of a "square corner" but it's growing on me. Lots of great details and seems like another fun build. Can't wait for January 1st! Quote
parksroad Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I don't instantly love it as I did with some of the older buildings. But still it's much better than the DO. Interesting that this is the first corner building that didn't put the entrance on the corner in some way. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Money laundering? Very cynical! I think this set is incredible - amazing detail and beautiful - it will be my first modular set ...and I foresee the Joker visiting... Quote
parksroad Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Joker would be a fabulous addition--the windows even match his hair The money laundering is one thing I really like--it's a joke that immediately makes sense when you see the money tiles going into the machine, unlike the cookie smuggling... santaends Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 The modified 1 x 1 scroll with open stud can be found on the highest level roof. It's in grey. Below it is bucket handles clipped vertically if my eyesight doesn't fail me. Quote
8BrickMario Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 The Detective's Office had printed door-sized window panes. I'd fully expect these to be the same. Quote
Brikketto Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I like this Creator, there're a lot of detail!! Quote
LegoSjaak Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I thought i read that someone was wondering if the windows of the bank were printed or if they were stickers..well, they are printed, as the discription at the beginning of this thread says: Special elements include a printed prize check, printed ground-floor windows.....
