It's ok.... I don't like how much the textured walls stick out on the ground floor and then suddenly ends at the arches, even if I know why it has to be like that. I also don't like on the second floor how only one side of the corner will have that raked texture and the other side won't - surely they could have found a more elegant way to do that.

You raise some good points. Maybe fixable with a little mod work. Perhaps the square corner pillars could be replaced with rounds same as the central pillars - although perhaps the square pillars are needed to give the corners a framed look. Perhaps that 2x2 brick with tracks on all 4 sides would look better.

Actually, it doesn't look like it has to be that way considering the "gold bar" pieces appear to be on 2 x 2 bricks (sideways), so I guess you could fairly easy make them line up with the arches.

Assuming you could recess the gold bars to line up better with the face of the arches - what happens on the corner pillar? You can't recess in two directions at once. So would need a different kind of decoration for the corner pillars.

True, you'd lose detail on one side of the pillar, which is probably why they went with their solution.

Well, a lot of mixed opinions, as usual.

We loved this one at first sight, and after looking at it in more detail, we still loved it.

Size, part count, we don't care. It's a lovely creation, both inside and out, and we look forward to buying it as soon as it becomes available.

Hopefully the extra goody is the one containing the yellow bicycle, as speculated above.

So I like that photoshop of the extra floor. How tall would it be with the extra floor compared to other older modulars (you know, back when they were bigger)?

I totally agree and I also don't like columns with no chapiters. Why? Too "expensive"?

Anyway I'm going to buy it for sure (when it will appear in Italy - in one year or more  ).

For those of you who think it's tiny, this is how it would look with an extra floor (and extra cash):

From cafe corner to Detective office, I have thought that the original proportion is the best at its look design and balance. For instance, adding one more floor for cafe corner or other modular looked quite silly to me. However, for this modular bank, I cannot help admitting the fact that adding one more floor for this Brick Bank looks perfect and more balanced than the original.. it would have been better if it had come out with taller scale.....For the first time of doing Lego since coming out from the Dark age, I am seriously considering of buying one more set to make it look better.

So, this photoshop manipulation image by Lego Sjaak looks great!

Sometimes I wonder if Lego reads these posts and deliberately makes the building small so people will feel obligated to buy two or more to make it a "proper modular". Ok, just kidding, but still, if it sells well, that will encourage Lego to continue the pattern of raising the price, making smaller modulars, insisting on a storyline. and padding the piece count with a lot of smaller parts. In the bank, it is obvious there are a lot of 1x1's and other small parts.

After an in depth look at this thing, I will certainly buy one. I can not pass up a neoclassical bank, and it is so much better than the DO. I like the color scheme. Most banks are either grey, white, or tan, so having it in bright colors would not work. I really wish they had not tried to add a laundromat to it and just had kept it a bank. The tiled floors certainly add to the piece count, but I do not think the interior is over the top. There is a nice amount of detail outside, which is most important to me as I will hardly ever look inside the building. There are some parts dedicated to the storyline, but it is not as rampant and annoying as the DO.

Interesting comments about the designer. Honestly, after the DO, I would have hoped it would be someone else other than Jamie this time. Disclaimer: Jamie has designed some very nice modular and Creator sets. I just think it would be better if they alternated designers to get a variety of building techniques instead of relying on the same person year after year. Having new multiple inputs give the modulars a new fresh perspective. And about the storyline, it is hard to say whether or not this is the whim of the designer or if TLG has issued a standing order that one be included. I agree that in an adult theme it is unnecessary. Nevertheless the design is good enough to set aside a budget next year to be able to purchase it. Also, I agree with some that if they keep raising the price, there will come a point where I get priced out of it. Please dont ask me to choose between going on a summer vacation or buying something half the size of a Fire Brigade with double the storyline. </rant>

You mean like this  ???? 21484877564_ef0d3efa4d.jpg

Guess if I should win the lottery and can and want to afford 3-4 copies of this set, this will be a nice starting point

Looks really impressive that way, even though the architecture now somehow reminds me of a large US railway station.

The more I look at the stock pictures and the photoshop XL versions, the more I love it over all.

The DO took me a little while to love. When I finished the DO I was quite a bit underwhelmed. But I absolutely LOVE the private I's office, it's just perfect!

When I got my second DO and mirror imaged it, changed the dark nougat "bricks" for the dark red ones and turned the blue building (now twice as big) into a bakery/ cafe, I can now say I love it.

Since, no matter what, I make my modulars bigger (my version of the PC covers 2 XL base plates with no side walk!),I will most likely feel under whelmed with the stock size.

I think Jamie has done an awesome job with this one and it is quite beautiful!

To be honest, even in this massive proportion, it still looks great.. It would do good as a standalone too. But i'm afraid you would at least need 5 copies..or 4 + bricklink orders...;-)

What about this 48 wide Brick Bank, instead of 24 studs wide.. With two sets this should be possible, maybe with help of a few Bricklink parts.. Another option is to make the whole building 2 or 3 bricks taller... that should be possible as well! 21484764433_4b0fb3565a_c.jpg

LegoSjaak; You HAVE to stop photshop this building! You`re giving me too many (bad) ideas and "force" me to buy 4-5 copies of this.. A great building and modular but it scream to be MODed!

First impression's are better for this than I had for the DO. I'm really liking the look of this release going by the art work. This design could quite easily been used for an Police Station, New York style IMO.

Might get 2 of these to add another floor level. I also like a the blonde hair piece on the female bank worker. Reminds me of Sanne who worked on and chaperoned the 2014 Inside tour. Wonder if one of the crafty parts designers lik Gitte modelled the hair piece on her?

Well,

I 've already mocced my own bank, so this set will be turned into a police station here. I'll remove the laundromat, that way I can create a "vehicle-entry/garage" (?). And add an extra floor. Think I'm going to replace the windows in black. And the laundry will get it's own building. :classic:

I saw a Facebook post of Marcus yesterday telling people not to spread disinformation about the modular in some AFOL Facebook group. The initials aren't his he said. If I could only find the post again...

Huh, really! That's what I said: I could be really wrong. Edited by ilikeboomerang1

I'm really sorry... TLG is laughing it's head off, reading these posts of people willing to buy multiples of this set.... And once this new set is bigger than the others, you also buy copies of the DO, PR and so on.. It was never my intention to advertise for buying multiples but i must admit that i'm a victim myself too.. i have two sets of the last 7 modulars, and made one XL version of each of those two sets.. but now i'm even thinking of 3 or 4 Brick Bank sets... that would be crazy.....but...they look soo good...wider...taller...deeper.... :cry_sad: (Edit: TLG is not my employer....)

So far, I have yet to buy a second copy of any modular, actually any Lego set for that matter. If there is to be a time when I might buy a second one for modding and expansion purposes, this would be the set. I can envision widening the bank and giving the laundromat its own 16x32 building. Too bad the baseplate is 32x32 and not two 16 by 32s.
