JamesJT Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 lego 045 lego 048 It uses 4 RC controlled XL motors and has 3 modes: 1 Drive - Left and Right Tracks 2 Outriggers - 3 stage - swing, fold and extend. 3 Crane - Rotate boom, lift boom, extend boom and raise hook. There are 3 functions through the turntable. I think the 3 modes will be selected with levers on the back, though there is plenty of room inside for a RC sequential. Quote
Milan Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Wooow! Awesome entry! It was my old project, but never started it. Glad you did this! Quote

TinkerBrick Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Cool idea. Would have never thought of a tool like this. Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Very unique and organic. First time seeing such a machine too, and I like it! Quote
cheeze Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Great example of the real machine, look forward to a video of it in action Quote
PeterF Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Looks great. I'm especially curious to see the outriggers move. Quote
Jim Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Wow, excellent work! Original, well executed, great color scheme Quote
nerdsforprez Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) Lets hope none of those that vote are arachnophobics lol.... Edited October 19, 2015 by nerdsforprez Quote
JamesJT Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) I changed to from L to XL motors as the L's weren't strong enough. I need to gear back up now as everything moves too slowly. Lets hope none of those that vote are arachnophobics lol.... There were 2 spiders in TC6. One came 1st, the other was really scary! Jurss Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Great! This was also my idea, but it just stayed as idea (and maybe thats good now), because didn't had time for this contest. Quote
pyro690 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I like just how the cat sits there :D I thought it was stuffed when I first noticed it! Haha. Great idea for a crane! Quote
KirTech LAB Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Very interesting model! And I like design very much! Good luck in contest! Quote
JamesJT Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 I thought it was stuffed when I first noticed it! Haha. Great idea for a crane! Sariel has his hamster and I have that damn cat. She likes lego and cameras but what she really loves is the string from the crane. Quote
D3K Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 She likes lego and cameras but what she really loves is the string from the crane. I hear that, mine also likes PF wires. Lost two M-motors (luckily) two the menacing jaws of my feline buddy. On topic; I love the concept, never seen one of these before, looks like something that would be great to own, if nothing else, then for the fun of it! You have seemingly done a great job replicating the looks and functions of the real thing, but I'd try to redo some of the gearing to have the function speeds be more proportional to eachother. Of course I have no idea how this looks on the inside, and for all I know there are limitations preventing this to be redesigned, but from my point of view, the speed of the functions is a thing that holds back an otherwise great and unique model! Great work! Quote
JJ2 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 This is looking good so far.... Kinda slow though The way the legs move is quite fascinating. I think you should make it where this thing can walk, THAT would be awesome! Quote
BusterHaus Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Very cool entry. I wasn't sure of the scale at first, so the picture of the real machine really helped. Quote
