That's impressive list, but it would be much better to put URL of your collection listed on Brickset or Rebrickable into signature.

Now you have all those sets, what're you gonna do with, let's say, 30,000 Technic parts?

What future projects do you have in mind? MOCs? MODs (modifications to sets)? Reviews? Are you going to do reviews on all those sets, now you have so many to compare? I mean, this isn't just a topic about buying things, right? ;)

Unless I miscounted that's about 80 sets! My guess would be between $8k-$10k total. My wife would be happy to know I did not spend that much in 2 years. Wow!

A picture is worth a thousand words (or eight thousand as the case may be). I think it would be incredible to see a photo of all those models in the same place, at the same time. I can only imagine how much space that would take.

Get out the camera!

I will say lets make a moc with all the parts from the sets and make a ship :wink::laugh:

But what about all those wheels?

The most ships need a lot of tires  .

Ontopic again. Great collection you have there Richard

I started as AFOL just little over year ago and bought my first ever Technic Lego set 42030... Since then my Technic Lego collection has grown also a little bit:

8043

8262

9390

9395

9396

2 x 42000

42002

42007

42009

42021

42025

2 x 42028

3 x 42029

42030

42032

2 x 42036

42037

2 x 42039

42042

+ some extra parts from Bricklink

So not as impressive as your list Richard but I have spent maybe all my "loose" money to Legos (2-2.5k euros) but it has been all worth it and I not gonna stop now, no way  I would have decent amount of parts to build MOCs but I don't want to disassemble those sets that I have built  They are so nice to display :classic:

Yeah,

The bug can bite and bite hard. I used to blame Blakbird for my troubles (because of techniopedia) but I have since settled with the fact that it was going to happen one day either way. I amassed a collection most here would be dumbfounded by....but have since sold quite a bit of it off to distill down to only the models I thought were worthy. I still have a massive collection of mocs and I think am the only one to have all of RoscoPC's F1 cars built (though Eric still has them!)

At the end of the day you need to build custom models to truly appreciate what is possible with lego...although its not the best plan from an investment standpoint.

Picture we want picture :)

p.s. looks like Blakbird has a competitor :) :)

That's a nice collection.

Would it be fair to say it's mostly a case of getting each technic model released over the past few years, with some end of life sets that were still on shelves also in the mix?

The bottom of the list is easy due to the new numbering range (42000s, and to some extent the 9000s), but I always find it a bit tricky with the 8000s.

This means many of those sets are not huge ones but the fun little technic ones as well as the flagship models and everything in between (and double ups on the ones that you liked the B model of).

I'm with the others on putting together a few pictures

Thanks guys!....i know i need pics or it didnt happen, i am arranging that.

As for bragging....well, yeah.....i mean, i put a TON of not just money but work into getting all these sets.

If you look most of them are long since sold out, some are hard to find or very expensive.

I don't buy old sets boxed new as they are too expensive, what i did was over a long time i bought all of the parts brand new (where possible) and even bought the original manuals and then built the sets.

As such for me it was like build a BNIB set, i don't like or collect second hand unless it's either a great bargain or the set has parts i need.

So yeah....i think i am allowed to brag a little bit :-)

Compared to toher guys though i dont have squat!....all those premiere sets, those Technic and Racers Formula cars are still missing.....

I only get the B models if i like them, for example the AWESOME B model for 8048...briliantly designed tractor!

If i get bored or decide to quit Lego, i will try sell them to another Technic collector locally, i live in Ireland.

Storage space is my biggest problem right now, it's hampering me getting the more recent big sets as i have no space for them!

I need to try sort something out there, it#s been a very costly hobby but i have enjoyed the Lego experience.

:-)

That's a nice collection.

I look at past release and see what interests me, my ultimate aim is to collect every set released since 2000 onwards.

I dont like any of the older Technic sets before 1999, i know guy only collect the large sets...but i personally like a good range from the small sets to the mid-smal, medium and large sets.

Part count is important, i prefer building the large sets to extend the build time experience.

When i go to build older sets i take into account that i have to try source any rare parts...can i get them, how much do they cost etc.

At the moment i am looking into building an old Lego Racers Formula 1 car....but some of the parts are hard to find, so i will just take my time a gather the parts as i go along.

that a pretty impressive list imo!!,,,you have sets i dont (jealous).

for me its the build experience and sense of accomplishment at the end of the build. not just because i built a lego model but the fact i gthered and sourced all the parts, the planning etc. all my work and money paid off etc.

actually i have around 30,000 spare parts....i collect parts as much as i use the parts to build all those sets on my list.
