Hello,

This is my first MOC, which is based off of the only rear mounted pump truck in New Zealand, Sockburn 257, now Nelson 217.

Hi there!

For your first MOC this is quite good. I can see how you paid attention to all of the details on the real truck. I have a few ideas if you wanted to tweak it. Firstly I think the windshield is too high compared to the pictures you provided. This type of scania cab is difficult to replicate at minifigure scale due to the lack of suitable windscreens. The 2x2x6 windscreen(the one most CITY trucks use) is the right height but is too sloped and the one that you used is flat, as is the real truck, but is simply too high. I've encountered this same problem while building minifig scale trucks and have opted for the sloped windscreen (personal preference). Also as you can see on the firetruck, the rear of the truck with all of the compartments is just wider than the cabin. What most truck builders do in lego is they make the cabin 6 wide (not including the mudguards) and the rear 7 wide. This small difference creates a 1/2 stud offset on either side making the truck look just that more realistic. Just some thoughts. After digging through my ldd files I came up with an interesting solution to the windscreen problem. I've tried to replicate the livery of the truck you provided:

Have a look ^^

Anyways, I hope you found this helpful. I know I kind of went on a bit much, but hopefully to your benefit!
