First of all, this is my first post. But I've been looking a long time and are very inspired by sheos RH400

I am working on an excavator with 6 V2 pneumatic pistons for the boom, arm and bucket. And 2 small LA to open the bucket.

Same principle as RH400 and other large excavators.

So far I have made the valve battery with 3 major LA which opens and closes the valves. But it does not work as intended.

So I need ideas for a new valve battery.

I hope you can help me with this project.

Regards Jonas.

One of LUGPol's administrators has built Terex RH 400 with pneumatics.

It is using four valves, controled by servo motors, each with reduction:

Later version had pressure switches and compressors:

Wow - that's amazing. More than watching it work i'd love to hear it :)

Whole machine or only valve? :P

They are all valid solutions, the main problem with the servos it's the price!!!!

About the LA, why did you not like it? I find it a good solutions cos you can stop it everywhere from closed to open positions.....

That´s a pretty amazing unit.

But i´m not a fan of the servo configuration, because of the lack of possibilities.

You can better adjust the air-flow with a LA or some kind of worm-gear.

Oh I liked the LA, but I messed up the connection between the LA and the motor, I used gears instead of U-joint.

I might try to change it, but I would rather look for other ideas and maybe something smaller.

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you aboard! I can concur what others have said, I think LAs work well with pneumatic valves.

The pressurised valves working, so in the machine. i kind of have an idea about all sorts of hissing noises, but it might be the steam fanatic in me  . But that's a great demonstration of the setup, thanks.

i'd love to see those 'tanks' on a trailer behind the unimog and see it hitting the road

I´ve got the PISTONS! :laugh::tongue::grin:

Now it´s time for tweaking and modding the excavator.

Your images is way too big. Can you limit the pictures to 1024 wide, according to site guidelines.

I actually dont know how to do that, it´s a link to brickshelf.

Save the picture, upload it to your own BrickSafe or Flickr account, and embed a smaller version.

Otherwise you can simply link the image, instead of embedding it.

I think I got it right. :)

Cool!

I recommend creating a BrickSafe (very easy) or Flickr (widely used) account. It's very useful for hosting your own pictures.
