Okay, project one for 2016 is done onto project two:

To better fit in with the updated Forgotten Daylight steam loco, I have upgraded the smaller tender on this Mountain - type loco into a relatively long tender. This type of tender would be used for more long distance trips between refueling be it the vast prairies of the Mid-west, or the steep grades of the Rocky Mountains.

As I had lengthened the tender, I had room enough to put the whole railroad name on the sides of the model. This is not usually what I do, as "Brick Railway Systems" is shortened to the initials BRS on most of my locos. I accomplished the odd numbered spacing for Brick Railway (with a blank space in between the two) by using Technic bricks and half-pins with studs. I used to use regular bricks with studs, but that left my tender off-kilter with a odd length such as 23 instead of it's current 24 studs long.

By the way: printed tiles saying "6843" go on both sides of the cab.

I think I'll get this one on getting this model in February or March, and it costs around $75 USD (before S&H) from a couple sellers. (that's with a bunch of parts missing as I already have the letters, wheels, and assorted other rare parts!)

It's going to be set in German occupied France in about 1944, just before D-Day, so not sure if it should be a German or French locomotive.

For a German locomotive you pretty much can't go past the BR 52 otherwise known as the kriegslokomotive or war locomotive. They were made in the thousands to aid in supplying invasion forces. During the war they were simplified as steel became rare so there are many variations and are simple shapes so should be easy to build.

That BR 52 does look amazing. And there's the history behind it.

Too bad I'm building all-British locomotives. I might want to change all that...
