marvinblue Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 That new coastguard ship looks quite nice, but as with the creator vehicle ferry, I don't think I'll be getting either as I don't have a waterfront for my City. I must say that the creative juices at Lego have certainly been flowing!! *y* Cool creations ON!! X-D Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 (edited) Thank you very much for the new pics, Sim Avenue and xwingyoda! Like I already thought before, Agents will be no City subtheme. To 8635 Agents Mobile Command Center: *n* That's a awful set -brrrrrrrr! Surely all the other sets of this thme will be as ugly as this one. But luckily Agents doesn't belong to the City theme - so I don't care about it. To 7736 Coast Rescue Squad Car: *y* That's a very nice little set. I surely will buy it because I like these little sets (including the new Impulse sets) which don't cost more than 3 - maximum 10 Euros because you can buy more than one of them to enlarge your collection and they are available even for a little wallet. To 7739 Coast Guard Patrol Boat With Tower: *wub* Amazing! That's so brilliant and excellent designed! I really like it! For me it's the best (not only) City set (from what we know now) this year after 10184 Town Plan! It's exactly this what I wished when writing down my ideas for a lifeboat and a lighthouse on http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=9448 ! That's a dream! The lifeboat is so very well designed with its two chimney, the bridge and the room downstairs, the crane and the yawl. The pontoon and the lighthouse are very well degined, too. I like the surfer with the shark, too. It's nice to see how TLC includes action elemants into the CIty theme without making the whole theme fantasy and consequently boring and absurd. Sadly this doesn't happen with the new "Castle" theme. I hope that both rooms in the lifeboat (the bridge and above all the room downstairs) will have back walls like in last year's cargo ship. Otherwise this will get a very wet matter when the waves come over board and can get into all the rooms because they are open in the back! :-D And I even hope that the room downstairs in the lifeboat will be some sort of first-aid room with a lot of interior. If anybody already knows how much this set will cost, which interior the lifeboat will have etc. then please let me know! Harbor theme on! *wub* I'm very excited about how the Coast Guard 4ward Jeep With Jetski will look like - hopefully with doors and much smaller than this oversized CG Truck With Speedboat! I'd say this year is a great year concerning the City theme! :-) Edited January 1, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
M'Kyuun Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Although the pic is is obscured by glare, what I see of the new Agents set looks promising. I like the larger trucks, personally, as I think they're more to scale with the minifigs. However, I don't think they should go much larger than 8 studs wide, which is the ideal width for a truck, allowing 2 minifigs to sit in the cab. Love my Scuderia and my Heavy hauler. *wub* I also remember MASK, a pretty cool show, and it'd be fantastic if this theme was similar. *sweet* I'll agree with another member's sentiments concerning the possibility of a pullback motor... not crazy about that, nor the spring loaded projectile launchers. I guess the launchers must be popular with kids, however, because they seem to be in sets across nearly all themes. As far as serious looking figs w/ guns, well...bring em on. I grew up in the 80's where nearly all action figures had weeapons, esp guns, of some sort, so I have no qualms. The way I see it, if TLC doesn't include them in the sets, most kids will substitute something for a gun...I did when I was but a lad. Ultimately, I think it's natural, esp for boys, to create conflict, esp pretend gunplay. Both my opinion and experience. Quote
AgentRick Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Nice. Ive said that I Really like the coast guard theme, but to me, the Agents theme looks like a revival of a theme from 7 years ago: Alpha Team. It resembles it alot, plus we get other groups of agent to fight each other. This might be the closest to getting to a military theme, so I'll wait to see more sets to determine if this will be good or not. :-) Quote
VBBN Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 (edited) Now for my comments: I really don't like agents. I had a set like that which was a lego-rip off. And 8-wide? AARRRGGG!! City isn't very good. To colorful and big. Now the mini 4 wheeler? *y* *y* Edit: I was hoping the coast guard would be like this: Edited January 2, 2008 by ~VBBN~ Quote
alex54 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Those new CG sets look vey good! I like the new boat, with all the details. And adding extra element like the lighthouse is a very brillant idea! This line looks promising (if you don't look the problem of size of the 4x4). The little set is nice too, simple but good. I can't wait to have some new sets! Quote
THE-FORCE Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 New Pic of the 7736(I suppose): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2903051 Quote
iamded Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 That was posted by *yoda* a few pages back. Thanks anyway. ;-) ~Peace Quote
Username_Taken Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Does anyone know how much 7739 will cost in US dollars? It looks very good, but also very expensive. U_T Quote
Hinckley Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 My mysterious source, the super secret Colonel Sanders, brings us new preliminary pics of the coast guard sets: Removed by TLC's request Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Wow, thanks for the pix Hinckley - although I'm not sure Tabletown has any room for more ships and things...I'm sure I'll end up buying these anyway, I just can't help myself...it's like a disease with me. Although I tell my Wife it's better than drinking and I don't go out - I'm not sure if she'd prefer me to get the hell out of the house every now and then. :-D Dr. S. Quote
Piranha Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Thanks Hinckley and Colonel Sanders :-D !! These are looking great!! The 4WD, Rescue Helicopter and Light House sets are *wub* As for the others they are nice too, I wish the speedboat came in a separate set The Man stranded in the life raft/house has a flare stick!!Nice use of the old shark too! Love the Color Scheme and love the Line *wub* *y* P Quote
Derek Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) Freaking Amazing! Ive fallen of love with 7737! I immediatley thought of the Fire Off roader when I saw it. Im asuming it will be the same price... (I Hope) Dp8 Edited January 6, 2008 by darthperson8 Quote
General Zen Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Amazing new sets! I may not be a town fan, but these may be too good to pass up! these look better then the old coast guard sets from a few years ago. The dock and lighthouse is a wonderful addition! Quote
Brickmaster Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I adore the helicopter, just love the ship aswell, they look great and functional. And orange! Woo! I especially have intrest in the new hull. Quote
iamded Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 What wonderful sets! Thanks Hinckley (and Colonel Sanders ;-)), you're on a roll! :-D *y* These sets look great, and I'm very happy that we finally get a proper minifig lighthouse! (The SBSP one doesn't count. :-P) It's sad we only get 1 shark in all these sets, but the quality of the sets make up for that! :-D ~Peace Quote
Brick Miner Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 i hate to be the grumpy gus... but i don't like these coast guard sets. 2007 was just too hard to follow, plain and simple. it will be interesting to see the final design on the light house though. right now it is standing on a digitally rendered rock/cliff. so i wonder how the final design will be placed in regard to the dock, etc... it especially seems strange since the dock has stairs leading up to the lighthouse. almost seems like there will have to be actual bricks leveling the lighthouse to the stairs. but if that is the case, then whey do those bricks not appear here. maybe the rock/cliff design isn't finalized, yet ??? - BM Quote
Hinckley Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 right now it is standing on a digitally rendered rock/cliff. It's this piece: Click pic for BL reference. Quote
kidcharm Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Yeesh!... These city sets are suffering from sticker burn. ...Stickers are so bad looking... Quote
legobear Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Is that a new helicopter Hull by any chance? Because when I look at the back of the helicopter, I wonder how can it actually be shaped the way it is shaped... it's so smooth and round. I hope to god it isn't a new hull because I prefer my helicopters brick built. For the small coast guard truck (7737) is there a chance that it's also going to have suspension?? Really can't wait for these sets regardless though *wub* Quote

I hope to god it isn't a new hull because I prefer my helicopters brick built. It's the huge fuselage part from the Passenger Plane... *wacko* For the small coast guard truck (7737) is there a chance that it's also going to have suspension?? My exact thoughts! That would explain the ridiculous gap between the wheels and mudgards. Let us hope... Quote

I hope to god it isn't a new hull because I prefer my helicopters brick built. The aft section is the same piece used for the large passenger jet. If you look closely, you can see the plate sticking out on the side where the horizontal stabilizer attaches (on a plane). I wouldn't mind so much if TLC had designed this piece with a hinged cargo ramp in mind., but as it is, it's a bit limited in its usage. It fits this model pretty well. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 The only news here is the off road and jetski :-| All the rest has already been posted hehe !! Seen the retailer catalogue already so for me all this is no news :-P *yoda* Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 i hate to be the grumpy gus... but i don't like these coast guard sets.2007 was just too hard to follow, plain and simple. I gotta agree with you. Nothing I've seen of 2008 has come close to the stuff of 2007, bar the post plane and the truck and forklift (And town plan!) Back on topic though, the 4wd with jetski is slightly better than I expected. Think I might be picking this one up! Quote
Ashoka Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Wow looking forward to getting those orange hexaganal flags off bricklink to make an orange jedi interceptor! >:-) I also like 7737 which is probobly the most origional out of all of them. Ashoka~ Quote
