marvinblue Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 My opinion: I don't really like either sets, the plane looks a bit wierd and out of proportion for my taste and I think that the front on the truck is a bit odd after the SNOT efforts on the '07 line of trucks. However, my wife is pushing to get the Surveillance Truck. So it proves you can't please everyone all the time! :-$ Quote
Hinckley Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 The argument about realism and 4 wide versus x # wide studs I think should be centered around what kind of use we are looking for. If creators and collectors want a two person seater, then the only option is at least a six wide studded plane/car/truck. That being said, Lego hasn't had any plans lately at least to incorporate these two person designs so we're all stuck with six wide vehicles that don't function as they should. If i have a six wide vehicle that doesn't function to its full capacity, I prefer 4 wide with a reduced price and rather cute mini look. If I can stuff two [snip]yes, they're beautiful items, but the function may be lacking, and backwards compatibility is slowing becoming an issue. :-$ Just look around at some of the complaints about huge trucks unable to ride safely on those two lane roads now. Before this turns into another 4 vs 6 wide debate, take your passion over to this thread where the issue is already being discussed please... :-) Thank you! Quote
oo7 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Have we seen this set yet? It has a nice shot of those new handcuffs there. Quote

Hinckley Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Very interesting, thanks sam! *wub* I can't wait to see what these will look like. I hope they are not just buckets... 007 I believe we've seen it before but it's nice to see it again. X-D Quote
zeki Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 i don't like the horbour set, but i'm surely getting construction set. Quote
Batbrick Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) Thanks for the news as always Sam89! *sweet* That Harbour set sounds cool, but I might pass on the Construction set, unless it is really good. Do we actually know if this is System scale though? For all we knowit could be Duplo....... 8-| EDIT: I read the description more carefully, and realise it is minifig scale :-$ I probably won't get these as it sounds too much for starters, and my money is going towards other things! >:-) Batbrick Away! >:-) Edited November 5, 2007 by Batbrick Quote

xwingyoda Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Weren't they in dealers catalogue? Yes they were ;-) Its just weird that I solely posted them Quote
Batbrick Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 :-X That sums it up for me, I don'tcare if they are for starters, they are :-X *n* Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Hobbes Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Whiners... :-| First people complain and want TLC to go back to the roots. Now they do, and people complain again. Those are starter sets, and I think they're cool starter sets. So, there. Quote

Shadows Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Those aren't terrible at all. I kind of appreciate seeing some 4+ sets with real minifigs instead of the jack stone type and, while they don't appeal to me as a builder, I'm not horrified by the idea of them sitting on the shelves and selling to young kids who need a good place to start. I can't even guarantee that I wouldn't buy them for parts, if they were desperately cheap. ;-) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Weren't they in dealers catalogue? Thank you for the pics, osakana! I personally am a bit disappointed after having seen these pics! To the Build your own LEGO Quote
casewindu Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I had a feeling these sets would look like this and i'm dissapointed yet I agree with Hobbes that these are nice starter sets for younger children and others who are new to Lego, they have a lot of quality pieces that could also be used for other things. ;-) That helicoptor on the last page looks fantastic thebest we have had in years thanks oo7! *y* Quote

Those are starter sets, and I think they're cool starter sets. So, there. Yowchy! Tiger attack! Man, that stings. All right, stop clawing me, I'll like the set. I like the set, Sheesh! I like it, okay? But, no amount of mauling will make me buy it! :-P Quote
alex54 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Maybe the construction set for me... doors, big red tipper, caterpillar tracks... That sounds not too bad for me... In the harbour set, there are (only) basic pieces. Quote
Batbrick Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Okay, so it aint as bad a I exaggerated, you make a point, it isn't Jack Stone! :-X I still don't like the use of way large peices though, but I see your point, they are good for young builders. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Darth_Legois Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 So there is not going to be a fire line? :-$ Also i would buy that construction set if it was on sale for $10 but im trying to save for the police line next year. Quote
