OoC: one small remark, I shouldn't be bound anymore, right?

"I don't have use for the item, but I do like to gold. Don't want to demand the gold, if someone can use it better, please let him have it." Torald seems quite happy with the result of the battle. "I say we rest for a short while, get back to full strength and after that continue our journey to find the Triffid. Sounds like a plan?"

"Hmmm...a rest would be nice, but I fear that we may not have time for it with this Triffid running about loosely," I say, sheathing my sword. "Somehow I don't know if that patch is so becoming for a knight."

"It's way past my usual naptime but I fear that Petaldan is right, we probably should pursue the Triffid before it wrecks even more havoc".

Ezeran drinks a grand tonic.

Waldorf drinks a tonic.

"That would be a sight! A knight with an eyepatch!"

OOC: Don't know if we should take actions for Windus since he has been gone but if we should:

Windus drinks a potion.

Proposition for loot distribution:

Windus: Pirate's Eyepatch

Petaldan: 10 gold (a bit more since he got an item with lesser value the last time)

Ezeran: 5 gold.

Torald: 5 gold.

I hope that's okay for everybody?

"Thank you!" I beam before downing a Potion and chawing down my Greasy Sausage (as disturbing as that sounds :look: ).

QM Note: Please do, but remember that Windus can restore full health to people at the cost of 1 ether outside combat.

Ooc: Sorry completely failed to take his class into account. Is it okay if we redo his latest action? Can he heal himself and Petaldan instead of them drinking potions?

QM Note: Of course, that's why I pointed it out.

After the battle, the corpses were loaded to the cart again. The crowd looked flabbergasted by the Triffid's fast ambush.

"Did you see the speed of that thing? That monster caught us totally off guard! I will not let that happen again. It is evidently a huge threat to this city, and I will do all in my power to stop it."

heroicanpc-blackgullbonaparte.jpg

"But what does it want? Why did it attack my wife, out of all of us?"

heroicaquest124-waldorf.jpg

"It engulfed me as well, earlier today."

heroicaquest66-maitred.jpg

"And Master Eldritch, the necromancer, at the Kingless Crown restaurant after that."

"Oh dear... Frau-frau is sad because she lost scent of the monster. Those rotting pirates must have spoiled her sense of smell..."

"Then we must use our power of deduction to predict where it will strike next. Think, people! What is the common nominator for these attacks?"

"What if we climbed a house or other high point to check if we see it?" Torald starts climbing a house to check for the Triffid.

"There is no point in that. I have already sent men to scout the quarters nearby. We need to be smart about this, or these attacks will only continue."

Ezeran brushes his unshaved chin looking far out into the distance, it seems he is pondering the circumstances. "The first victim was Waldorf, an arbomancer. The next victim was Malastor, a necromancer and now this weather mage. The Triffid is obviously targeting mages to gain their power, maybe it's even trying to gain so many different powers as possible. The next target is probably a mage of some sorts and since it already has collected the powers of the above we might want to look after a different kind of mage with different kinds of powers? Maybe be an archmage? It could also been drawn to the raw magic manifested in the presence of magic user. Maybe a mage college or the like? If this last statement is true it could be that we could lure it with magic. I don't know. What do you think?" Ezeran turns to the party.

"What if he acquired enough magical powers, and is looking for physical power? That wouldn't narrow it down at all, but we must consider it anyway". Torald tries to think for a moment. "What you say, Ezeran, does make sense to me, but how can we lure it with magic? It's not like you can fill a bucket with it and put a trap around it, right?"

"It depends on how intelligent it is, if it's intelligent enough to differentiate between different classes of mages it's probable that it's intelligent enough to assess what powers it needs to grow stronger. On the other hand it could juat be acting on pure instinct, guiding it towards the next source of magic that is big enough to provide more power. What do you think about this line of reasoning?"

"To be honest, I don't know. Lets hope we run into him before he claims his next victim, so we can take him down."

"I think you're onto something, Ezeran. They were all mages, weren't they? It's possible that he eats ether or something like that. In any case, finding the nearest mage, probably one with some influence or power, should likely be our next step."

Ezeran turns to Captain Cousland. "I would search the surroundings for the closest powerful mage you can find and then try to isolate him or her from the Triffid. It could also be a place teeming with magic like some mage convention or the like. In addition we could try to lure it by setting up some contraption that runs on magic, I'm more unsure on this last idea. How does this sound to you? What have your scouts found?"

Ezeran continues. "I have one more concern, it could be that the Triffid is acting on its own accord but it could also be that it actually has a master that either benefits from the attacks or can somehow capitalise on the powers collected from the Triffid..."

"Although I am new to the city I would dare say that the academy of enlightment seems like a good bet. Or what were you thinking?"

Edited by MysticModulus

"Hmmm...I'm new to the city, so I can't say I know. What is Madrell's Curiosities? If the Triffid headed that way, it might be making for the Ziegfried Manor. Otherwise, it might be headed towards the marketplace...but Madrell's Curiosities, to me, seems like the place to go. I suppose the academy is a possibility as well. Is it a school for magic training or just a regular academy?"

"I'd say the Academy is a good place to start."

"You don't know? The Academy of Enlightenment was decimated last year when it was teleported into the Void. Some heroes from your organization managed to save most of the people inside, but the repairs for the schoolbuilding are still underway. I heard there has been some issues with funding, since the six houses have been quarreling over other matters."

heroicanpc-blackgullbonaparte.jpg

"Quarreling?! I beg your pardon, Captain Cousland, but we have been trying to affect the fate of this entire city! To think that it would befall on the hands of foreign upstarts! That reminds me, I forgot to thank you people for saving my wife. Consider yourselves friends with the Bonaparte from now on."

The heroes gained increased reputation with the House of Bonaparte.

heroicaquest124-waldorf.jpg

"Well, the Ziegfrieds are only the most powerful family of wizards. If the Triffid is really after us mages, the Ziegfried Manor would be our best bet."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go to Ziegfried Manor" Torald stops for a moment and says: "No thanks, sir, it is simply our job"
