Shadows Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I don't know how I didn't realize this at first, but the dwarf beards are an entirely new color of brown: Very chocolate bar looking and without the red that makes you frown. *y* Are these beards the same plastic as the old long beards, ie rubbery? It might just be the material taking the colour differently, but I do like the look of it. Won't go with any of the standard hair colours, of course. Ah LEGO, the only consistancy anymore is that nothing stays consistant. :-| Quote
Hinckley Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 I added some more pics to the review-mostly requests that were made to see the figures, but unfortunately will have to finish the comic later... Quote
Hinckley Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Okay, I can't help myself. I got the first half of the comic up... :-$ Quote
Siegfried Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Okay, I can't help myself. I got the first half of the comic up... :-$ You naughty boy. You should be sleeping! It's great! The dwarves do seem to be in need of a more logical mine layout! :-P Quote
Batbrick Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 That comic is hilarious Hinckley! :-D I can't wait to see part 2, and by that i mean do it NOW! X-D :-P Maybe the dwarfs are mining in two places and that is why they have a weird system! *wacko* TTFN! >:-) Quote
casewindu Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 nice comic Hinck, wise walrus indeed! X-D can't wait to see the next! ;-) Quote
Shakar Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Thank you for the three pictures Hinckley! Seems like I'l be able to turn some of my vikings into dwarves. :-D And I just adore those winged helmets. I have so many uses for them in my head.... Please come here, 7036! Shakar Quote
KMOI Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Hinckley, your reviews never cease to amaze me! I'm already wanting to buy the set from just reading your review! I just love all the little gimmicks and details they managed to cram into what could have been a dull mine. From the modular parts to the simply incredible gem carts, this set is as perfect as it can get! Or, at least the Hinkley-brand photography is making it seem that way. :-D I absolutely adore the comic too! I can't wait to see Sinner's ingenious solution! Keep it up, Hickley! Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Ehh?? You have this set already? You lucky whacker!! What a great review! I love this new style of reviewing! Some good new things in this set. I love those new beards! Makes me want to build Queen Anne's Revenge just for the sake of giving Blackbeard a decent beard. Looks like that new winged helmet is very useable for fantasy-heroes. The other one seems useable for riders of Rohan... I can't wait till I have this set!! If I ever get it. Dwarves on!!!!!! Quote
phoinix Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) always a pleasure to read your reviews my friend! very good pictures once again and great fun! *y* on to the set :it seems a bit messy..and a bit empty.. :-/ and as you pointed out in your comic the fanctions are a bit..pointless! the minifigs are VERY good and lego keeps doing that lately! :-) great minifigs in just ok sets.. they did the same with the evil-skelly-wizard-tower |-/ can you please please use the beard in a normal minifig with a baseball hat? i wonder if it can be used in city and look ok.. 8-| thank you once again (hey 500 posts! :-) ) Edited October 7, 2007 by phoinix Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 7, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 7, 2007 Okay, I can't help myself. I got the first half of the comic up... :-$ I discovered the comic before I saw this post because I was browsing that silly site of yours :-P It has a nice story and is very amusing (like all your comics!). How come you get this set so early? Quote
alex54 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Nice review and comics, as always! I'm in love for those dwarves, they are so nice! *wub* I will have this set, but not before february 08... Quote
Cabby Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Thanks for the review ! This set seems like a must-have to me: so many new AND good stuff! :-) Quote
TheFrisian Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Great review Hinckley, the pictures you provided really show this set in all its details. And I also enjoyed the first half of the comic. You really put in a lot of humor, adding the sigfigs of so many other members! :-D Quote
Hewman Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Thank you Hinckley for the excellent review. SWMAN indelibly said @SWMAN; I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that. Firstly, an old adage is that a pic is worth a thousand words...plenty of words with even the first few pics posted. Secondly, you ungrateful whelp, I am primarily a lurker here, and rarely do I see this sort of blatant disregard for the significant contributions of very active members such as Hinckley. Thirdly, I am not trying to start a quarrel. You are fortunate that the other members that posted so far are so gracious. Gotta agree with you, Troy. Personally I love the look of all the other figs there, I think it added to the review in a positive way, looks like it's time for me to pull out the fabuland figs when the Dwarves set arrives in Oz. iamded Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) Nice comic! I'm sure MOCers will add a big cave, and the bucket transportation system can be easily modified and extended. The boulder ends up sailing right over there heads... Don't you mean 'their' heads? :-P Just noticed that... Anyway, looking forward to seeing the 2nd part of your comic, and what modifications you come up with! *y* :-D ~Peace Edited October 9, 2007 by iamded Quote

It will feel rather empty without them :'-( Anyway, once again thanks for the review! Can't wait till it comes out here (which by Aussie standards will probably be the end of next year |-/ ) TTFN! >:-) Quote

I actually made of lot of grammar errors because I was tired and writing it backwards. Thank you for pointing that out though because misuse of they're there and their is one of my biggest pet peeves. I certainly hate committing it. It's nice to see a younger guy concerned about correct spelling and grammar. Take care my friend and thanks! BTW, error fixed. ;-) Quote
Slobey Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Get review!!! I'd certainly like to get this set *sweet* Will they release this set on S@H? Target Australia isn't affiliated with Target USA >:-( Quote
iamded Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) You're very welcome Hinckley. How much did this set cost you? I'm curious as to how much this will set me back... X-D ~Peace Edited October 9, 2007 by iamded Quote
