Well, it's nearly Tuesday 1st December and I'm still ****** off at LEGO for unfairly releasing it too close to Christmas and not putting it up for pre-order. If this set sells out and I don't get it for Christmas, this is how I'll feel towards them:

You can reserve the set in your local store 24 hours before it's release. (So Monday).

...And then curse when it's cheaper online.

Do you know if you can do that in America?

I'm afraid not, I phoned my Bluewater Kego store and they said it was okay there, try and give you local Lego store a ring in the next few hours and see if you can. :classic: I mean different stores have different policies of what you can and can't do but always worth a try.

Okay, I need to get my own TARDIS, so I can jump to December 1 and grab this set!

A note about the minifigs:

I believe the 11th doctor's costume is supposed to be this one not the one you linked with the image. In light of this, the minifigure is supremely accurate.

Also, I kinda wish the 12th doctor's costume included the bowtie, so we could use it for Matt Smith. Oh well. It still looks awesome.

I dunno, it seems closer in jacket design and markings to: http://whoisdoctorwh...5/212969251.jpg with just lego adding the series 5 pinstripe red shirt cause its eye catching and its a familiar look. This jacket was the dominant jacket in 11's reign actually so it would make sense i guess cause he wore it from a Christmas Carol-The Snowmen, which was one and a half series and two christmas specials. Either way it looks unique and like 11, and who's to say he wouldn't wear that shirt with that jacket anyway.

For any UK members getting the set designer Andrew Clark is coming to sign sets on Thursday in the Bluewater store, I think he maybe going to other stores around the country as well although I don't know the dates.

Yay,can`t wait until my Set arrives.Ordered it right away 2 Minutes after Midnight...along with a 10 € Set (the Space Starter Set) to get the Gingerbread House.

I`m so exited....iehhhhh.

Found this set today on the shelves at Barnes & Noble. Looks nice, didn't pick it up because I'm hoping I'm given it for xmas.

He was in Cardiff (home of Doctor Who!) today - nice chap, happy to sign my set :)

Already on back order on the USA S@H site. Going yo my local store later, maybe they will have it in stock there.

There wouldn't be all this back order problem if LEGO just accepted pre-orders so they could pre-determine the demand. Thank God the LEGO Shop isn't the only online shopping site that sells LEGO sets.

I managed to get one of the last ones they had anyway  but thanks for the help.

I just got back from my local LEGO store. They had plenty, shelves full. I got my 2! So I can have 1 open and one closed!

Stoked! I'll build it tomorrow, too tired to enjoy it tonight.

Edit: I forgot to mention it was extra sweet because I got the sets for points. Felt like I got 2 sets for the price of sales tax (just under $6).

I hope everyone gets their Doctor Who.

Made sure to go on my lunch break to pick up the Ideas Dr. Who set. Went ahead and got the Dimensions set too along with a couple other things to put me over the $99 threshold for the free Gingerbread House and 2016 Calendar. Thanks to a bank of VIP Points didn't cost too much cash.

Built Doctor Who. Really like the closed TARDIS best.

The control room is rather interesting, how'd they get all those little things designed.

The Daleks are very well done, lots of little parts, very good design.

The minifigs are spot-on.

My only challenge is what is common to many sets... The contrast between the background and part color. There are just too many part colors that look too similar on the colored background. I really think TLG should just start using white as a background color for instruction pages.

Picked up the set today from Toys R Us; it's spectacular.

The figures are all very good, with the exception of 11's legs--as the print color is off and really doesn't match the torso color unfortunately. My favorite for sure is the Weeping Angel; she's a spectacular figure and I just want an army's worth now. Clara is great too, as her duel molded then printed legs are very nice.

The build itself is good, especially the control panels. On the Tardis itself, I think it's a great representation, but it's too big, too tall specifically. I'm not sure how this could have been corrected, but it's still a nice looking model.

Agreed, definitely one of the best ideas sets we've gotten. I think my only criticism would be that the doors of the Police Box don't open, all in all though, a very good set.

I agree with the size of the TARDIS being too tall, but in order to have the connection with the Console a Room, I am not sure what could have been done. Too bad there is no way (out of the box) to make a stand alone TARDIS of the proper height. Maybe someone will come up with a "good" MOD for this. I don't have time (I need a time machine) to do this.

I want to like this, but i know nothing of Dr. Who, where do you suggest is a good starting point to get to know the characters and the show which are depicted in the LEGO set?

For the 11th Doctor: The Eleventh Hour

12th Doctor: Flatline

Thanks, so 2010 on i guess.

I must say all the older 70's stuff I've seen so far in segments on youtube seem a lot more interesting.

Yeah, the 70s was a golden era for the show. Matt Smith was a brilliant Doctor though, as is the current 12th Doctor. I'd definitely watch their episodes first if you're interested in the Ideas set.

I need to add that if you want to see the previous 2 "New Who" Doctors, you should watch

the 9th Doctor: The Empty Child

10th: Blink/Midnight (Blink fantastic, but the Doctor doesn't actually appear that much in the episode)

well, I've somehow managed to end up with 3 sets now!!! Lego wouldn't even let me cancel an order, they said I'll have to receive and then return it :(

I am tempted to open another box, build just the Daleks/Weeping Angel and the Tardis, and leave the rest as spares or make the central console a little more detailed.... not sure yet!
