Interesting assortment for both Exo-Force and Bionicle, but why are Onua, Tahu, and Gali missing? We only get Kopaka, Lewa, and Pohatu. X-O

It seems Lego is pulling off a new marketing strategy when they sell 3 bad guys, and 3 good guys.

All of these sets look awesome! Bionicle is very good. Star Wars, as everyone knows, is also very good. racers is awesome! And the Castle and stuff are extremley good! Exo-Force this year sucks though, the battle machines have horrible style. Thanks legomilk!

legomilk, you should seriously get a member class of your own, because you have to be the coolest member here! Okay, well, that's an exageration, but you still rock! (and I'm not kidding about the member class) *sweet*

Anyway, there is so much to comment about, so I better get started:

City: Much better now than the first few glimpses! The cargo plane, believe it or not, is looking great now, especially with all that green *wub* And the new carg truck is lovely! I'm not as keen on the two smaller ones, but it's great that TLC hasn't given up 4 wide planes entirely! Also, anyone else here love the vast quantity of packages and containers? *sweet* As for police, not as good, but mainly because of the stupid water plane and the color changes (now it's blue and black, not just black? :-| ). But man, that Police Station is HUGE! Must be the first ever to have 2 cells, and it looks really detailed! Plus, we get new taller windows, 3 vehicles, and 8 figs! *sweet* Oh, and the helicopter turned out fine, as I figured. TLC couldn't have messed that one up.... :-P

Exo-Force: My dreams have come true: a PURPLE Mech! *wub* Unfortunately, it's a robot mech, but still great! These look like awesome parts packs and great designs - I want them all! *sweet*

Bionicle: This... isn't as good. Okay, so toa Kopaka looks OKAY, but Lewa and Pohatu are not Lewa and pohatu any more! Plus, they all have the stupidest launchers yet, and the weapons don't look that great. The little matoran are great, though, and they all have new mask designs, which is really good too. But seriously, what is with these bad guys? They carry giant balls of energy in their stomachs? :-| The designs also look like crud, but this is good: because now I don't have to go bonkers on Bionicle shoping, like I have for the last two years. X-D

I'll talk more later, I have to get off right now. But 2008 is rocking my socks! *sweet*

wow these are absolutly great sets!

I love the new post line that little plane is awsome and so is the little van though it maybe a little too little! X-D The other van is also really nice.

The new police line is good too. I dont have a made up police helicoptor so this one will do nicely! the new police station with the new car is alot better and I will also buy both of these.

Due to my screen still being brocken I cannot comment on the detail of these sets but we hope to get a new one soon! ;-)

the indiana jones sets and that lorry in the ferrari set also look great!

I massive thanks to Legomilk for all of the details! ;-)

Actually, when I was looking at the mask of Lewa, it reminded me of the original Miru. *wub*

With the exception of Bionicle (They ought to rename them to Bionicle: Turbine Overload), 2008 has blown me right away. Everything is just so amazing that I'm at a total loss for words. I LOVE that mini-trains set! And Exo-Force looks like it's going to storm right back after a lacklustre year with their strongest offerings since the second line of 2006. I mean, every year, we get some pretty good offerings. But this year, all the lines are coming out, guns a-blazing! There's only one thing I can say right now, folks.

2008 on.

2008 on!

This is a dealer's catologue and they usually featue prototype pictures.
oh, your right... looking at the castle sets, it shows the preliminary images and the trolls with yellow hands.

well... i can only hope there are some major changes to the postal/cargo sets once they hits the shelves.

on a side note, i can't believe both city trucks (cargo and police) feature the same ugly front configuration with wedge plate and that nasty one piece windbreaker on top of the cabin :-X the trucks from 2007 were so much better... and i loved the front plates on them. what was wrong with that set up i wonder ???

don't mess with perfection, LEGO !!!

Omg, I so much love the post van!!! :D Im getting 2 or 3 of this hehe :)

post plane is nice, too

THe Police station is awesome, but will be expensive, no matter, I will still get one of that, too X-D

Lego definately improved over the last years, im happy now :)

I can't believe everyone loves these Exo-Forces... I hate them. :-X

I can't believe everyone hates the Bionicle sets... I love them. *wub*

I can understand why people like those Indiana Jones sets though. But that huge playset, shouldn't it have been released later this year when the big sets come out?

-ZotS

Thanks for the link Legomilk *y*

A bit disapointed in the technic sets only one power function motor but I guess there will be more to come TLC usually release more that 3 a year

I like the creator sets the Helicopter is a must buy.

Some great city sets aswell I like the postal sets it makes a change from police and fire I particularly like the cargo truck and forklift one of my first sets some 30 something years ago was a fork lift.

Can't wait for 2008

Thanks Legomilk.

Now I can start budgeting.

And Exo-Force has targetmasters!

whoa.

-Tohst

wow, awesome thanks legomilk... I like a lot that new postal service plane (good old-plane-making-school ON !!)

about uniforms...fear not... as they point out at the Czech forum, at page44 is warning, that pictures are

preliminary, and products can change a bit... so i think there will be postofficer uniform :)

that mini-train creator set is cute :-) ..but why mini |-/

i like also the new cargo truck...and...well... that crappy cargo plane, with big <insert that tiresome argument> bricks...looks quite cool :-$

Edited by szww

Will they sell the police car seperatly i dont want to get 10 police stations........... :-/ although that would be nice :-D but im not some realy rich guy |-/

ps:anyone like my avatar?

I already loved the Castle line when I saw the '08 Castle sets before. The Goblin's reverting back to the old Shadow Knight helmet doesn't bother me.

Exo-force... hmm... we get a taste of Transformers with the weapon to mini robot idea, and a scared Keiken face. And I like Arachnid Stalker's little attack thing it fires out. Other than that the '08 Exo-force sets don't do much for me.

City: The new Cargo things are sweet, we finally get new cargo. I'm starting to think those new 2x2 box pieces we saw in the Indy Motorcycle Escape set aren't hollow. Shame that. The mail things don't look bad either.

Now the police station...

Awesome satellite equipment. Heaps of minifigs, hopefully a detailed interior. The sloped roof is cool. I knew once I saw the new cage door piece in the Troll Attackship that we'd see it in the police station. And we get two of them, nice. I like the interior of the police truck and the toll booth ain't bad either.

*y* *y* for 2008! Thanks legomilk!

WOW WOW WOW so much news at once!

i cant handle this

system overload!!! *wacko* *wacko*

i LOVE the small plane and car for post!these are SO CLASSIC!!!! X-O

and i really like the two smaller creator sets.. ;-)

ofcourse the house is amazing we already said that..

the police station is a big surprise.. 8-

Like it or hate it, I notice that Mars Mission appears to be absent from this catalog, unless it was on the also absent page 17.

I wonder why page 17 was not scanned... 8-|

i dont remember mars mission being on the list for january

there are 2 impulse sets for mars mission.

maybe it will come back in june

though i hope it wont

i hated it!

Jeez guys, you are missing the best set in the lot

Belville!!

Look at all the parts - The oven and dishwasher, food items, gold dishes, the fancy bowl in the dining room, trans light blue wall pieces, light blue baseplates, bedspreads. Light brick in the barbeque to make it look real, an idea they stole from me of course... :-)

This may be the best Belville set I have ever seen! Sorry all you he-men who only buy police stations, but Belville sets are a goldmine of rare parts, and this one is awesome.

Other than that:

Technic is disappointing. EDIT: as pointed out below, the good stuff tends to come with the summer release, not the initial release. Here's hoping....

Ferrari stuff is OK (the small Scudaria truck is a hit with my daughter the Ferrari freak) but not great

Creator is good as usual. the mini train is great!!

The police station is better than the last couple

The big planes smell.

The racers are typical.

Don't care one way or the other about EF, SW, or Bionicle. so no comment

Keep in mind we have not seen the UCS type sets that were discussed before (Taj Mahal, Town Plan, etc)

But the Belville set is clearly the class of the catalog.

Did anyone notice that in the Indy pics, his whip is shown in two different positions? There was the curled design, and then a fainter image of a straight out whip imposed onto it. Maybe the whip will be poseable as we all have hoped!

- U_T

Wow, that is a fantastic find! Very clear pictures also

Cargo - Those new doors appear to be much more functional than the previous planes. I do wonder how those gray containers are made though.

Police Station - Not the prettiest looking, I'll have to wait for the final product. Those captions do seem to hint at it being modular, and are those light bley colored tools to the left of the prison cells?

Interesting Creator, that house looks very nice. A mini dark green train? What a tease.

The Technic sets don't really appeal to me though I have never really been into them. Funny thing, many of the Technic sets appear in the Lugnet poll asking what Technic sets AFOLs are looking for. It is as though they are asking for feedback on the sets after LEGO has decided to release them.

Star Wars - Unfortunately, nothing that really draws me to buying these either though the Rebel Battlepack is amazing. On Guilty Light: though the figs might be semi-appealing I cannot see myself buying all the bricks to go with them.

Castle - Dwarves Mine and possibly the Battleship are what is good here. I've got to check my Target soon for the Dwarves Mine.

Indy - Excluding the Temple Escape, I will probably pick up all of those. No new skin tones for the natives though. :-(

Racers - The miniature take on the Ferrari line is cool. I'm just suprised no one is absolutely psyched for those Speed Racer sets!! I do believe I spy the Mammoth Car though these are probably all mini scale. *hopes for minifig sets in the future*

Bionicle - Eh, not that good. And they had to stick with the non-reusable containers too.

Exo-Force - Interesting new spiky pieces but no new characters! >:-( (Trapped Keiken is pretty funny though)

Impulse - Who would have expected a printed hat? And that robot has a cheap metal detector.

Duplo/Belville - That is really nothing I am into but I do remember that old dinosaur theme.

Okay,

I've drooled and gotten it over with. I think I can give solid thoughts on the sets now.

Town: Cargo: I like the little throwback plane but there isn't anything here that gets me excited. The big cargo jet is the passenger jet in green. I even looked for good pieces in good colors and didn't get excited.

Town: Police: Again, nothing here that gets me excited. I know I'm not the target audience for these sets but would it kill them to take a slightly different approach to fire and police? Like, instead of a fire station, do a nice lego restaurant thats on fire. You get the firemen, you get the fire truck, and you get a different building than the 50th fire station. Again, not even excited about pieces except for the minifig non-batman type handcuffs.

Creator: Spider, Train, House. All good models. Nothing too exciting pieces wise but the back of the spider and the train have a few interesting bits.

Technic: Mid-year might have something impressive. This group, good intro sets but not for me.

Starwars: Not a big fan of anything here except the rebel trooper hats. I'll get a boatload.

Castle: Very exciting...very very exciting...but also very already talked about ;-)

Indiana Jones: Cannot wait. From the baby dinosaurs at the Temple Escape entrance to the Not-Zis in the Race for the Stolen Treasure, these sets are very nice. An example of my previous rant about Lego designers doing a very good job converting other people's designs, the car and the truck here are beautiful. Much better than when they come up with something themselves like this year's town sets.

Racers: Never my cup of tea. I understand why Ferrari is now micro sized as they did the mini-fig scale to death but I probably won't get any of these. I should look closer at pieces but in the past they have seemed so much the same thing over and over again its hard to get excited enough to do even that. Speed Racer makes me ten times more interested, but still probably not enough to buy them.

Bionicle: Okay, I was hoping the return of the Toa Nuva would mean really special sets which was silly of me. The first batch of 3 Toa and 3 enemies I think is much better than 6 of all one faction we've had previously. I think it will add more variety to the designs and thats always a good thing. I think having the little guys 'combine' with the bigger models will make the little sells sell so much better. And we'll have 12 little sets instead of last years 4...maybe. I think the designs are solid (for Bionicle). I think the weapons are good and the little ball shooter maybe not different enough from Zamor sphere shooters but still look like fun. All in all, a decent first batch of sets. Probably stronger than anything since the Toa Metru. And it does look like they changed the basic socket piece. Not much but the details on the sides seem to be gone.

Exo-Force: niiiiice. A purple mech, new cheese bricks, old cheese bricks in good colors, the weird pointy brick, Target-Masters, a big ole buzzsaw piece we know we'll see again elsewhere, and a spider mech. And a story line that looks like we may see more than the same 5 people. Of course, why didn't the girl mecha driver get a mech this year. I've got my own clone army of Hikarus going on already. I wish the enemy mechs still had bulbs with skeletons in them but you can't have everything. Definate buy.

Duplo: Another firestation! Thats okay, they make up for it with a return to the Duplo Dino sets which remind me very much of the playskool Dino collection. It also makes me realize I'm out of relatives young enough to buy Duplo or Playskool for. I guess its back to buying it 'for when I have my own kids' ;-)

4+ sets. Very nice basic sets. Yes, 4+ doesn't mean Jack Stone non-building sets! Yay!

Belville: I just want a full turkey. Is that so wrong? Drumsticks everywhere but no turkey.

Finally, did the AquaRaiders sets not sell well? We got no follow on sets at all. I guess Indy is the replacement for them in the first part of the year but I really liked them

-Tohst

Thanks a lot for the big an bright pictures, legomilk!!

I loved to see the big Indy pics! And I wonder what minor changes will be made to the "real"

sets coming out.

The vehicles are massiv... and once again... I wonder already about getting the Temple Escape...

The set is a bit crappy in my opinion but has this wonderful plane *wub* (which undergone a few changes

from the video game trailer) and very nice and unique figures and pieces! So it might be I have to

get all of them.. sooner or later and for a reasonable price.. but I know the day Indy sets are coming to my local Lego store - I HAVE to buy one to get that whippy Jones!! *sweet*

SW... mmm... not a huge fan of PT or AU or Stormis... so there is the Rebel Troopers for my collection left!! I love to get them finally! *wub*

Other things I liked are the Creator house and helicopter, the city forklift (comes with crappy truck)

and the River Dragon from ExoForce!

:-)
