Posted November 2, 20159 yr Have you always wanted to organize your LEGO collection, but didn't know how to get started? Or, maybe you've already sorted your LEGO, but it's hard to find which box, bin or drawer has the part you need? I'm excited to share a massive update to the LEGO Brick Labels collection to include most of the bricks in a typical AFOL LEGO collection. Sample showing crisp images and a clear description of each LEGO Element. This updated collection includes 500 different labels organized into the following groups: Basic Elements (bricks, plates, tiles), SNOT Elements, Slopes, Wedges, Round, Curved, Clips/Hinges. Two additional groups are in “beta” because they aren’t quite complete: Technic, and ‘Other’. LEARN MORE: http://brickarchitect.com/labels/ Sample showing Technic labels on an Akro-Mils 64-drawer cabinet. Here is a low-resolution preview of many of the labels contained in the collection. (Technic is not included in the preview images as it is in "beta".) You can learn more and download the labels at: http://brickarchitect.com/labels/ Love the labels? Let me know! Comments, corrections or ideas how to make them better - I'd love to hear your feedback! Sincerely, Tom Alphin Edited November 4, 20159 yr by henrysunset
November 2, 20159 yr Wow! All this hard work and it's all free! Many thanks to you! I did something like this for CCBS labeling/sorting, but nowhere near the scale and extent of this. Great job! Downloaded and ready to print!
November 2, 20159 yr Ive made my own system which im really glad for However this will be helpful for so many people and it definately shows that a lot of work have been put into this. Great job with this. Definately really usable for all FOL´s
November 2, 20159 yr Wow ! Great job ! This kind of job is really helpful and for free... Great initiative ! I've got my own system though (and not far from these labels) but I think it could be an upgrade for any kind of sorting and storage.
February 10, 20169 yr Author I just updated the Label Collection to include 52 new labels! This includes a lot of Window, Fence, Antenna, & Bar elements. Some of the new labels in version 2.2 You can learn more and download the labels at http://brickarchitect.com/labels/ Enjoy! ---tom
February 10, 20169 yr All my parts are sorted, but I’m in the process of labeling them. I’ll use these for sure! You really did an awesome job with all theses, and glad that you keep the update coming! Oh and thank you very much for sharing with all of us.
February 10, 20169 yr Author Thanks @jpsirois! Be sure to share photos when you are done labeling everything. I just finished cleaning my LEGO area, and wanted to share with you what the labels look like when used to organize my medium-sized LEGO collection. I am using Akro-Mils drawers on top, and inexpensive Sterilite drawers on the bottom to store complete sets and extra bricks. I also updated my website to include a section on suggested storage solutions, so take a look at http://brickarchitect.com/labels/ ---tom
February 10, 20169 yr Yeah I saw that on Instagram yesterday, that’s really my kind of storage setup. One thing I might keep different then you is for small commons parts. I like to keep these organize by type & color like shown in this nice shot by Chris McVeigh: The best I found for those small parts are (the same as picture on Chris McVeigh shot): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B0S2H6 They have fixed seperator so don’t have to worry for separator to move out when searching for parts. Also the bottom of each compartment is round, it’s just perfect for easily getting the part, they just roll on the side, they never get stuck on a corner hehe. Also since I’m in Canada, I’ve got to use Stack-On (only the 18 & 39 drawers version are easy to find for reasonable price) or MasterCraft (the Canadian Tire brand, one of our country hardware store) have a 60 drawers version almost identical to the 60 drawers Stack-On. I’ve contacted Akro-Mils directly and their refered me to a canadian distributor near me to get those drawer, they where selling them at 50-60$ each, that’s crazy hehe. But Lowes just bought Rona, one of our Hardware Store, I hope to see some of those products availability changing. I still got couple of step before labeling. I need reorganize my LEGO room, which is also my home office to try to liberate one wall for this. I also just have 4 drawers unit yet (2x 60 & 2x 18), need to get couple of others to get everything nicely seperated. Hehe and I also have a bunch (20-30) of empty container like you have on top of your drawer with circular cap. Still don’t know if I’ll use them for anything lego related. But seeing your setup really encourage me to get my collection organized soon, that’s a good motivation =)
February 11, 20169 yr Hey Tom, I have a suggestion for your label collection. I know it might be a lot of job so feel free to do whatever you want with it but if it’s not too hard and time consuming that would be really nice I think. When you release a new version, do you think you can have a folder containing only the new part available in this new version? Or a list of the new parts to know which one I need to print? This would make it easier to print only the new label for each version. I have an idea of the work this require so that’s just a quick idea. Thank you again, they look really nice so far! Happy to see your Index Label (1x Plate, 2x Bricks, etc.) I was planning to do couple of these on my own, you’re just to good for us hehe.

Look for the file "VERSION_2.2.txt" - it contains a version history listing those parts which are new in each update! ---tom
February 11, 20169 yr Oh nice! Sorry I didn’t pay enough attention! If you need help in any way creating theses, I’ll be more then happy to help you anyway I can.
February 23, 20169 yr Hi, Thanks for sharing. I'm labelling now my inventory. Could you tell me which pictures you use. I want to make some labels of my own,but I want it in the same style.
May 3, 20168 yr Author I have made some huge updates to the label collection in the past several months. Version 2.3 added 82 new labels, making the Technic collection nearly complete. Since then, I have added an additional 44 new labels. This includes an effort to review the most common parts from sets released since 2010, to make sure that all of the most common parts are included in the collection. That's a total of 772 Labels! These are the 31 new labels added in today's version 2.5 update... To download the latest version, or learn more, visit http://brickarchitect.com/labels/ Sincerely, ---tom
May 3, 20168 yr Thanks for sharing your hard work! I think a nice addition could be some more generic labels, like "Modified Bricks" or "Tiles" or "Robot Arms".
May 3, 20168 yr Author I think a nice addition could be some more generic labels, like "Modified Bricks" or "Tiles" or "Robot Arms". Bob, Just to make sure I understand your feedback, are you suggesting a small collection of labels describing groups of related bricks, rather than the labels I've provided which separate out each and every unique part? This might be useful for folks who don't have that many arms, and don't mind mixing #59230 droid arm, #30377, #76116 mechanical arm, and #48729 Bar w/ clip in a single drawer. Thanks for the feedback, I'll consider this for a subsequent update!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll consider this for a subsequent update! I think that's exactly what he was getting at, and I agree. I might only have a dozen or so of each type of arm at any given time. Combining them in one bin would work well for me.
May 19, 20168 yr Author I'm excited to share yet another update! Version 2.6 adds another 78 new labels, for a total of 850 labels! The collection is getting pretty close to "complete" based on elements which have been reasonably common in the last 10 years. This update includes 16 common Bionicle/Constraction parts, plus a complete collection of 61 current Wheel andTire elements. Preview of the 78 NEW labels in latest version! May 19, 20168 yr I plan to start building my storage closet utilizing several Stack-On storage modules this weekend, and I'll be making use of your labels in the near future.
June 12, 20168 yr Great job Tom! I'm currently organizing my storage and these are extremely useful! It must have taken hours for to do all this and it's all free to us. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work
June 13, 20168 yr I've been using this system and I only wish there were more labels for more parts! I'm glad to say my best friend purchased a gift for me and it was The LEGO Architect by Tom Alphin, so I am very glad to have contributed!
