LEGODalekbuster523 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Indeed. No matter whether BTTF sets are coming, LEGO has missed the very golden date of the "future" and this cannot happen ever again, so sad...... Wish that all Dimensions-related franchises can be as lucky as GB. I think Doctor Who will be luckier. I expect a fully fledged range of sets and a standalone LEGO Doctor Who game by 2017. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted November 10, 2015 Author Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) Could the DeLorean billboard Easter Egg in the free roam of the BTTF level in Lego Dimensions be teasing a set? The image is clearly taken from the rejected Ideas project for a UCS DeLorean, which might say it doesn't mean much. Regardless, it's a fun Easter Egg that just made me a little curious. I don't think there'd be much point in a second Delorean being released. Edited November 10, 2015 by Captain Nemo Do NOT Quote Pictures Quote
Lego_v194 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 More BTTF sets seem unlikely, if they'd been planning any, they'd surely have timed an announcement with all the buzz around October 21st. I was thinking the same thing. And with the date of October 21 almost one month ago, I don't foresee any big sets..the best time to have come out with a BTTF set would've been at that date or a little before The Lego dimensions sets (71201) and the Doc Brown set coming up in January 2016 may be the only BTTF legos we will see in a while... I don't play video games but I am wilking to fork out 30 euros to purchase the 71201 set tomorrow and the Doc Brown as soon WS it comes out. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Huh, looks like Playmobil has acquired the BTTF license for 2020... Space.com - Playmobil Is Going Back to the Future in 2020! Quote The new Playmobil playsets will include a hero set with the Delorean, 1985 Marty McFly and Doc Brown, as well as Doc's dog Einstein and their accessories. The line will also include a two-pack featuring the figures of 1955 Doc Brown and Marty. Finally, a set of collectible 6-inch Doc Brown and Marty characters will round out the sets. Playmobil has not release prices yet for the new sets, but they will be available in May 2020. Quote

There's a hunch some have that the next Creator Expert car may be a BTTF DeLorean, keeping in line with the previous three that have seemingly fulfilled a lineup put forth by a fan vote contest made by TLG back in 2008... Don't do that... Don't give me hope... Actually the fact that Playmobil is making some BTTF sets seems like a good sign to me. Some here mentioned that after 2015 BTTF would not be of interest because the "future" and the 30th anniversary were over. I'd love for a UCS style DeLorean in the style of Dave Slater's. It's also a shame that we never got minifigs of Doc and Marty in 2015 and 1885 attire. We'll see. Edited October 16, 2019 by BrickHat Quote

Retro Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 Maybe it's just nostalgia, having seen it when it came out, but my memory is of BTTF being a really brilliant film. I regret missing out on the Ideas set, even if the Delorean was not perfect. On the other hand, I never saw Ghostbuaters when it came out, only watching it for the first time recently and I didn't think it was very good. The Ideas car is also too big, I feel. Quote

Ouch, you had to be there i suppose. Ghostbusters was slammin’ back in the days. I think i’m going to buy that playmobil Delorean as well. Love me some 80ies popculture Quote
Gorilla94 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 I guess just like Scooby Doo the best chance is a UCS car. The rest isn't that iconic, the target group is quite small (compared to other licences) and there is a minifigure scaled Version out, that many fans already own. Quote

As you may know, the last three Creator Expert cars were 2016's 10252 Volkswagen Beetle, 2018's 10262 James Bond Aston Martin DB5, and this year's 10265 Ford Mustang, which were exactly three of the proposals put forth by that 2008 fan poll. I should add, if one needed further hope in this "hunch" regarding a potential Expert BTTF DeLorean, consider that there once was a UCS-scaled BTTF DeLorean that achieved support on LEGO Ideas but was then rejected in review. Furthermore, think how sets such the UCS Sandcrawler, the UCS Helicarrier, and the Ghostbusters HQ had forebearers in the form of rejected LEGO Ideas projects... 1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted April 18, 2021 Author Posted April 18, 2021 Our usual leakers on Instagram claim there is a "possible" $130 DeLorean coming in September! Cautiously optimistic! If we do get a big DeLorean, I'd love it to have 2015 or 1885 Marty and Doc. Quote
