I don't think the extra head and torso for Holtzmann are in this set. It most likely got mixed in with the promotional photos and is going to be in the Dimensions sets.

And I agree. The outdated ponytail with bangs would actually look better on Erin than the new one.

I wouldn't say that it's "massively important." People have noticed that it's a detail that looks wrong. That's all.

I do agree, this looks to be a very nice set. I still think the Daemon looks ridiculous, but that's my opinion. I probably won't buy it, but I'm happy that there is such a set for those that are into the Ghostbusters reboot, and it's interesting to see this kind of progress in design.

Who said it was massively important? It is a detail they went to some effort to put in, and based on the publicity shots they got it wrong. To some people, details matter. Like if they had called the Doctor Who sets Dr Who instead, I can assure you some Whovians would have complained. Details matter to fanatics.

Wow this set is fantastic. Besides the collars that could have been different in concept art, the detail looks so spot on. Every character is just brilliant. I'm not a fan of Kristen's hair but a simple hair change could fix that. My most anticipated set for summer 2016 by far

As for the build, I quite like it. This is the first time I've seen a generic station wagon in LEGO. The minifigs are outstanding, especially the villain. I may have to get this one.

hello there im new to this forum but wow that ghostbusters reboot set is amazing and with 6 minifigures the uk pricing will likely be £50 to £60 , im looooving that ghost figure which I guess is the same one that possesses kevin in the film , hmmmm I wonder if the set sells well will more sets come out

That is a good question. On the one hand, I doubt they'd really expand the release schedule all that much, especially since even if the new movie is successful, it'll probably be a few years before a sequel drops to reignite interest. On the other hand, Lego clearly has faith in the theme if the giant Firehouse and now a new movie tie-in are being released, so I wouldn't be surprised if even in "off years" they try to release a set or two as long as sales of the existing sets remain strong. And that's not even getting into Dimensions, which could probably supply new figs occasionally outside of traditional sets.

I think it all depends on what happens in the 2016 Reboot. Can't imagine a Chinese Restaurant HQ would be that interesting to build but there might be another location or vehicle in the film that's interesting.

I'm still not even sure it can be called "wrong", though. We're talking about collars that snap / button in different positions, meaning they're variable. I think it profoundly unlikely each team member will make a point of always having her collar flaps in the same, unique-to-her position at all times. If they're anything like normal human beings, they'll each have their collars open some times, closed other times, etc.

It's like saying a wrinkle printed on the "clothing" on a torso is wrong because in one single still image we might have seen, a character's clothing is wrinkled in a different position. I mean, come on...

I feel like a traitor saying this (let it be known that I love the originals) but I think I prefer the new 'Busters in minifigure form. The new hair and maybe even the uniform color is more visually interesting to me than Venkman and co's figures.

You're not alone. I feel the same way. From the hairpieces to their uniform colors. They look way more good visually.

I don't agree on the colour. The hairpieces are are very nice and welcome addition, but since Venkman has his new one and Zeddmore the Finn hairpiece it's all good.

There is probably a lot of nostalgia speaking here, but I still like the original more;)

I get what you're saying, but at least in the promo image it seems that the collars are a reflection of their character. It could just be reading into the image itself, but one character seems more straight laced and has the collar completely buttoned. Another character looks like a loose cannon and has the collar open. So there may be merit to the collars tying specifically to the characters. Then again, we have no real way to know, and will have to wait for the movie. I'm not sure I'll see it until it is on Netflix, personally. Still, I think it may be at least slightly more important than a wrinkle.

Also, I am sort of playing Devil's Advocate here. I honestly don't care about the collars myself. But if some do, then let them.

I am kind of excited to be getting instructions for an official TLG 8W hearse. I would like to try building a couple in standard hearse colors, too.

The set itself looks pretty good though, with all the main characters an their vehicles in one box. Would make a very nice display piece if nothing else.

I could certainly agree with that assessment.

Right now there are a lot of people vehemently opposed to it - some out of plain sexism (which is just stupid of those objectors but within their rights of course), others because it's a reboot of a beloved, classic franchise (which I can more easily sympathize with, although in this one case I'm more hopeful about the new interpretation than I am with many other remakes). The new movie will never win over most people in the former camp no matter what, but if it does turn out well, it'll probably win over a lot of people in the latter one.

At any rate, the distinction will probably muddy further with regard to the LEGO set(s), as FOLs who aren't fans of a particular iteration of a licensed franchise (or even the franchise as a whole) will sometimes buy sets tied to it anyway, purely on the merits of the sets and/or their parts assortments. I myself have sets based on movies I've never seen, and more SpongeBob Squarepants sets than I've seen episodes of the show. I'm also one of those Star Wars fans who is vastly more interested in the original trilogy than the prequels, but I still buy many prequel-based sets anyway, since I can often use their parts for OT stuff (or even non-SW stuff).

Ghostbusters is just the latest of a number of licensed LEGO themes in which the sets cover not just multiple installments (movies, episodes, etc.) within the same overall continuity, but whole entire different versions of that "universe"; other examples include Marvel Superheroes, DC Superheroes, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those other themes surely have had some buyers who want sets based on certain versions of the properties but not others, but on the whole I don't think it's been a problem for TLG. They just sell everyone sets based on whatever versions of these franchises they want.

Wow, this looks like a step ahead from the old Ecto-1. I'm really surprised about the detail on this one, plus doors and ability to seat all minifigs. Amazing! Plus the black female minifig is just great, we don't get too many of these. This certainly looks like an ideas/ special edition /UCS /whatever you want to call it set, not your average basic licenced line-up set. I'm really surprised about what they're delivering here!

Same here. It's nice to see a film company try something new with a nostalgic franchise for a change rather than more of the same (which can be good too but isn't as imaginative).

I agree, this is the first reboot I'm actually looking forward too Though, I have to say that at least in my case, LEGO bias has stricken again I have noticed that my interest in upcoming movies increases considerably the instant LEGO tie-in sets are announced Of course I still care about other movies too, but I simply can't deny that bias

I'll admit, the set got me on board with the film. But I don't think it can be awful. just mediocre at worst. It's helmed by talented SNL comedians (like the original) and. while I think the decision to reboot vs. make a sequel is primarily out of fear of the original fanbase, I think this could be interesting. If the film has the same creativity and humor but a different plot, it may become more popular than GB 2, if not on par with the first.

And I've said this on Brickset, but if the film flops, we still got an excellent set with a lot of effort put into it. Three new hairpieces, a more practical Ecto design, and some superb minifigures (usually I don't care about the hero minifigs, but this is the exception).
